Bama game 3

Recommended Posts

Underway on CSS. Kendall pitching....will be limited to about 50+ pitches as he is recovering from Tommy John surgery and is on a programmed recovery plan. Score is 0-0 at top of 3rd. Modest crowd considering it's Bama ....but then again, it's a holiday weekend too.

Boy it's hard to say who is the worst infielder...Tomscha or Yak....another error by Tomscha, a run scored and another unearned run. Bame 1-0 with AU coming to bat at bottom of the 3rd. Sorry....my apologies...momentary frustration !

Bama down in top of the 5th. Still 1-0. AU hit into 3 DPs thus far.

Savage could not get the sacrifice bunt down and then hit into a DP to take away Tohscha's single....4 DPs in five innings. Fly out to right and inning over. AU has 4 hits and no runs...Bama has 1 hit and 1 run.

AU pitching looks good. Koger keeping the ball down and made a couple good fielding plays. We need to get someone into scoring position.

Another good defensive play by Bama....frankly, they are light years better defensively than AU.

Kelly walked and then caught stealing...play not even close. Tella ground out...inning over and Bama still up 1-0 Top of 7th

Another free base runner for Bama....hit batsman...then single to move him to 3rd and sacrifice RBI bunt to score the run. Inning over.... now 2-0 in bottom of 7th.

One stranded runner who walked.....heading to top of 8th trailing 2-0. Kendall and Koger both looking good...no help from the offense thus far.

Another walk. Oh well. I'll bet he scores. I don't get CSS. Is Turnbull that good or are we just having a poor day at the plate?

AU turns 5-4-3 DP...needed that to keep the game in reach. Turnbull has good control and has kept the ball down. We haven't had a really hard hit ball against him.

A couple defensive swings and two quick outs...Yak strikes out and we are gone without a whimper. One more chance.

Performance by the pitchers has to be encouraging. Kendall did well for the time he was allowed to pitch and did not allow an earned run. Koger likewise looked very good....hit a batter that eventually scored but that was about it. Bama only has 2 hits but turned them into two runs. AU two errors plus the hit batter. On to the bottom of the ninth trailing 2-0. Not that much of a hill to climb but the bats have really been quiet today ......so :-\

Auburn down 1-2-3 in the 9th...and that's the game. Probably the worst offensive performance of the season by AU. The Bama pitcher totally handcuffed the AU hitters and I don't think we ever got a guy as far as second base. Bama 2 Auburn 0.

Gone without a wimper. Oh well, we got one out of this series. 1-8 against three of the better teams in the conference. It tells us where we are as a team at this point. We have a ways to go to be in that class.

UAT is not one of the better teams IMO

Well, they have won three straight series. They must be pretty good.

Something dawned on me late in that game. We were the worst football team in the conference. We were the worst basketball team in the conference. Right now we have to be the worst baseball team in the conference. How hard is that to accomplish? Has that ever happened before in the SEC, in one year?

They are 7-2 in the conference. Granted their schedule (including us) has been pretty weak to this point.

They are leading the SEC west...and all they can do is beat who they play. That's why, as bad as AU looks at the moment, we won't know the whole story until we play more of the schedule. Hitting and defense really need to improve.

Well...at least we went 2-2 against them overall.
