Auburn head coach Tommy Tuberville has been selected as the East head coach for the 2006 Hula Bowl, the American Football Coaches Association announced recently. Tuberville will be joined by Washington head coach Tyrone Willingham, who will head the West team.

The Hula Bowl is an annual senior All-Star game played at War Memorial Stadium on the island of Maui. The 60th annual game will be played in January, 2006. Auburn's Junior Rosegreen and Bret Eddins played for the East in the 2005 game.

Tuberville is entering his seventh season with the Tigers and 11th as a head coach. Tuberville was named the Coaches' SEC Coach of the Year, Paul "Bear" Bryant Coach of the Year, AFCA Coach of the Year, Schutt Sports Coach of the Year and Associated Press SEC Coach of the Year.

In six seasons with the Tigers, Tuberville is 51-24 and has a 31-17 mark in Southeastern Conference play. Auburn won its first SEC Championship since 1989 last season and has claimed at least share of the SEC West title in four of the last five years.

Joining Tuberville on the East staff will be assistants Scot Dapp (Moravian), who is the 2005 AFCA President, and East Carolina's Skip Holtz. San Jose State's Dick Tomey will assist Willingham. The AFCA's 2005 I-AA, Division II and Division III National Coach of the Year award winners will fill in the final three spots on the staffs of the two teams.
