Karsten cops plea in tax case

By DERRICK NUNNALLY

Former ESPN college football sideline reporter Adrian Karsten was sentenced to 11 months in federal prison Friday after pleading guilty to two counts of failing to file income-tax returns.

Karsten, 45, of Green Lake, made more than $600,000 as a contractor for the sports network from 1999 to 2002 but did not file federal income tax returns for any of those years, according to the federal charges in his case. He pleaded guilty in March to two counts for not filing tax returns for 2000 and 2002, and the counts from 1999 and 2001 were dismissed.

He had faced up to two years in prison but instead got 11 months in prison for the 2000 offense and 24 months of probation - including nine months in home confinement - for the 2002 count. Karsten will also have to perform 50 hours of community service, and the IRS might seek to recover some of the $167,000 in taxes he allegedly evaded, Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew Jacobs said.

OMG...what is wrong with these television people not paying their taxes?? The guy that won the million on Survivor didn't pay his taxes either.

"Ah, nobody will notice." Some people have more money than brains.

His $600,000 went much further then mine, when he don't pay the taxes. <_<

Now most of it will go for his attorney fees and fines. :(
