cbo 7,979
With the regular season over, I looked at some team stats. Some of it was interesting to me, so I thought I would share. The 2023 defense was a significant improvement over 2022 in all major categories: 2023 Defense (allowed) Total Yards: 4,333 Passing Yards: 2,420 Rushing Yards: 1,913 Points: 263 2022 Defense (allowed) Total Yards: 4,743 Passing Yards: 2,671 Rushing Yards: 2,072 Points: 354 Unfortunately, the offense was even worse than 2022 in all categories except points scored (which is the most important of course). I was most surprised we had less passing yards in 2023 than 2022. 2023 Offense Total Yards: 4,266 Passing Yards: 1,885 Rushing Yards: 2,381 Points: 327 2022 Offense Total Yards: 4,542 Passing Yards: 2,072 Rushing Yards: 2,470 Points: 297 A few other interesting stats: Thorne had the best completion percentage of his career (62.6%). That surprised me. Of course, Thorne had by far the least yards of his career. His attempts were way down. Auburn was dead last in the SEC in team passing yards. Thorne had the second most rushing yards for a SEC QB, behind only Jayden Daniels. Fairweather had the most receiving yards (339) for AU, only 33rd best in the SEC. Hunter finished 6th in the SEC in rushing yards. Marcus Harris tied for 5th in the SEC with 7 sacks. Simpson tied for 2nd in the SEC with 4 INTs. McPherson was 1 of only 3 kickers in the nation who made every field goal. AU was better away (3-2) than at home (3-4). Strength of schedule (Bama and UGA) and the NMSU debacle explain that one. (Slow work day, but I can't believe I typed all this out either). Edited November 28, 2023 by cbo
Tiger1992 999
I thought this thread was going to be about how many 5ths of bourbon I had to consume to survive this season.

Go for single malt scotch or grab a cask strength bourbon. You’ll drop the number a bit because of the higher proof.

Just making sure, you only included the regular season for 2022 as well, right? A little surprised the offense was better last year, especially since we basically didn’t throw the ball the last 3 games of the season.
