Basketball Signing Day

Well we missed out on Jason Bennett (7-3 Center from Jacksonville, Florida). He would've been a HUGE addition to the Auburn squad in 07. He only averaged 12.5pts/game and 13 rebounds/game despite towering over most other High School students. But still, a 7-3 guy would've been awesome. He also only plans to play ONE year then turn pro. (Hardly a cornerstone for Lebo to build upon.)

He went to K-state where Bob Huggins is coaching. Bennett committed to Cincinatti last year to play for Huggins, but decommitted when Huggins was fired. Huggins remained in contact with him through that time (a violation of NCAA rules IF Huggins was still a coach) and eventually wooed him to K-State.

Despite that, we've got a pretty good group.

Birmingham News

...Auburn signed shooting guard Archie Miaway, point guard Dewayne Reed and forward Matt Heramb. The Tigers had signed combo guard Kelvin Lewis and forward Lucas Hargrove in the early signing period last November.

The 6-4 Miaway averaged 15.6 points last season at Tallahassee Community College in Florida. The 6-9 Heramb averaged 14 points for his high school in Douglasville, Ga. The 6-1 Reed averaged 22 points for his high school in Houston.

The 6-6 Hargrove averaged 15 points a game in Columbia, S.C. The 6-4 Lewis, averaged 20 points per game for his high school in Fort Worth. Lewis' father, Kelvin Sr., is an assistant coach at TCU.

Auburn returns six of its top seven scorers from last season.

Sounds like a solid group. It would have been nice to get a 7'3" guy, but only having him for 1 year wouldn't have done anything toward building a great team anyway.
