105 football players to report to LSU

LSU will welcome 105 football players to campus on Friday as the Tigers begin their third season under coach Les Miles.

Players will spend Friday morning checking into their campus apartments. The afternoon has football-related activities scheduled.

Players will undergo physicals with the training staff and team doctors during the afternoon as well as getting fitted for equipment.

LSU will hold its first practice on Saturday morning. Veterans will workout at the Charles McClendon Practice Facility. The freshmen, along with selected veterans, will practice on Saturday afternoon. The first two days of practice the team will work in shorts and helmets.

The team will add shoulder pads in days three and four before dressing out in full pads for the first time on Wednesday, Aug. 8. After four days of split squad practices, the Tigers will workout as a full unit for the first time on Aug. 8.

LSU opens its season on Thursday, Aug. 30 at Starkville, Miss., against Mississippi State in a nationally televised Thursday night game. The Tigers return 15 starters from last year's team that posted an 11-2 overall mark, which culminated with a 41-14 win over Notre Dame in the Sugar Bowl.
