Mikey 16,716
I expect to see Auburn there next year. I expected to see Auburn there this year. Slater had some impressive recruiting classes. That the new coaching staff couldn't parlay that into either the SEC or NCAA tournaments or both is NOT encouraging. Making the top 8 in the SEC or the top 64 in the nation should not be a challenge for a school like Auburn. That it has become a challenge is tragic. If Joseph Sanders doesn't get hit in the jaw, Auburn is in both the SEC and NCAA Tourneys.

Well then, it's tragic that one player's late-season injury can prevent Auburn from being in the top 2/3 of SEC teams or the top 64 teams in the country. We've put too much energy and resources into this program to get miserable results like the past few years have provided. A key player getting hurt could be a reason for, say, failing to WIN the SEC tournament. It's hardly a reason for the team not being good enough to get in. We didn't even finish ninth. Kentucky has the dubious honor of "almost" making it into the tournament.

We're obviously happy about our hire now, but he was the fan favorite throughout the coaching search
