I think playing at home vs. on the road makes a big difference right now in how this team performs. Hopefully, our road performance will improve as the team continues to grow.

I’m not saying he’s a good or bad oline coach, but what does Kendall’s record as a player have to do with his abilities as a coach?

I think that oftentimes, big men aren’t appreciated because some of the things they do to help their team don’t show up in the stats - especially on defense. We see the blocks and rebounds, but we don’t see how they may affect shots or the decisions of the other team’s players on whether or not to take the ball inside. Austin Wiley affected the way opposing teams played, and now Walker Kessler is doing that.

He said something in the post game interview on the Auburn Network about not wanting the crowd to get even louder and about wanting to send the message to his players that he had faith in their ability to figure out how to adjust.

If we keep winning, do you think the calls will start going more our way? That seems to happen in football.

I’ve come to realize that, in general, bball refs are predisposed to call fouls on big men. I see it in Middle School basketball games with my son. My son just turned 14 in December, but is 6’1”, so he towers over most of the other players he goes up against. I see him get called for fouls quite a bit that appear to be clean blocks. It almost as if the refs feel the need to ‘protect’ the smaller players from the big bully out there on the court.
