As crazy as it may sound, but I believe Cord should be given a chance to run some plays with the 1st team in practice and see how he reacts. He may, long may, but he may be the better qb on the team. I thought when JS signed that he was the best qb AU had signed since Cam. He has lost his mojo and is performing at a low level at the moment

In my opinion this game showed just how bad Auburn’s in game adjustments are handled. For some reason the defense was more concerning to me than the offense. They basically ran three plays and no adjustment were made to stop the plays. The quarterback read option sweep (the play that Cam perfected) we had no answer. Their QB ran for 5 yards shy of 200. That is quite honestly, unacceptable. He is their only weapon and, AU had no answer. The offense stinks and if only three plays are made AU wins. Now that is just how bad Mississippi State is and speaks of the failure how bad the offense is playing. The game was decided by missed opportunities and a bad play review of their touchdown. I thought Whitlow lost control of the ball just before going over the line. The ball to Slayton was as bad as a poor high school qb would throw.

I’m not at practice and don’t see the day to day effort given by particular players , but one thing I have observed from CGM is that if does not trust players, he doesn’t give them enough opportunities to showcase their talent. On one play , you can tell that Milik Miller has potential.

I thought the line played about as poorly as a line can play. I maybe too critical since it was first game starting but the center snaps to the QB seemed awfully slow.

Just a question, but if the back up 5 and 4 star offensive lineman aren’t any better than what is starting, what does this say about evaluating talent?

But what about Ashley and Troxel? 5 and 4 star recruits. Brahms was a 4 Star too. I know he was injured and maybe not ready to play at 100 %. And Grimes hasn’t been here in two years. What does he have to do with line recruits the last two years? When you sign a 5 Star , everywhere else they usually start

If you watch the other team from across the state, when they have an offensive lineman not producing they replace them with the backup. I’m not sure that I’ve ever seen Gus do this. It’s only when a player gets hurt or the score lopsided. It doesn’t take a person with a lot of football knowledge to see that some on the offensive line aren’t getting it done. Now that’s problematic in two ways: AU doesn’t have the players to replace them or the coaches aren’t good evaluators or teachers.

For once I would love to see AU get a wide receiver with the skill set of a AJ green or Julio

Thanks for the write up. I thought all year the line play was average and the stats tell story. Here’s to hoping that next years line play is better.

Was watching some bowl preview stuff on ESPN and they commented that for the sec championship game GA put someone else in at guard than who they played in the first game. Maybe that played a role in not dominating the line of scrimmage

After watching some replays of the game, I was wondering if the offensive line was the same for the championship game as the regular season game? I thought that after the first series in the regular season prince was brought in at left tackle and the offense started working.

This is why if you watch bama, they line up Ridley in the slot, wide out and motion him. They are searching for the right combination on who is covering him. When he gets a matchup with a safety, it’s a touchdown . Auburn never does this. Receivers stay in the same formation except Hastings and stove. Stove for jet sweeps and Hastings for nothing

I feel just the opposite. I think it will be close and a lot like last weeks Fla vs. LSU game. They will run the speed sweeps until we stop it and play action off of them. I hope the defense has been watching film. I’m getting nightmares of Wisconsin running the same play that we couldn’t stop back in the bowl game a few years back. JS will need to come up big for AU this week

I couldn't disagree more. There are some basic plays that need to be in every offense no matter what you run. A pass to a tight end and fullback is pretty basic

This is what I don't understand. Shouldn't all offenses utilize every position??? This is a coaching nightmare if they don't have basic plays to utilize everyone.

Unless things have changed, kids from cottondale go to the new school (paul Bryant). They used to go to Holt High school and like someone said previously, Auburn had a running back I believe that went to Holt.

it has nothing to do with injuries. JS is a tier above SW. Not saying that SW is a bad QB. When you see JS play, you will notice the difference immediately. I would compare the difference between Kelley from Ole Miss and SW. Now if you see SW as equal to Kelley, then we don't evaluate QB's the same

No need to wait for fall. The comparison of the two quarterbacks aren't apples to apples. JS is apples and SW is oranges. JS is the starter and everyone else is in play for backup. Folks AU has the best QB it's had since Cam. If he doesn't get hurt , you will witness the best QB to play for consecutive years at auburn since Sullivan

Amen 72. Let's start coaching players how to play their positions. Evaluate the best 11 and get to work. If the guy knows how to develop a back up and can call a good game, I'm all in.

Who is the other team besides bama that would beat OU? In the SEC. That's the only big boy conference we are comparing.

That's just typical SEC homer talk. Their defense is horrible in pass coverage. Their offense can play in any conference. Besides Alabama, who do you believe is better than them? No one else this year.
