  1. Thanks for doing these analysis every season Coach , I really appreciate them:

    • Was fun to watch the improvement of K.J. Britt as the game went along. He had a couple of poor run-fits early, but got that corrected pretty quickly. And boy, did he "bring the wood". Love watching that kind of play.

I enjoyed watching the improvement of K.J as well as the game went on; everywhere you looked it was Britt or Tutt. Dinson is a remarkable story in itself and I look for him to have a fantastic season.

I almost spit my drink reading that...  HAHA  6'8" 280 tailback.  HAHAHA  There is an every down back for ya.

There was some highlights of him at tailback, reminded me of when we were recruiting Ladarious Phillips (RIP), we went after him as a fall-back option as well, but he was an athletic specimen.

So...just spit balling here...late offer...are we missing on some other targets?

Well there was a couple highlights of him at tailback so I assume he is a back-up plan in case MAR picks Georgia or Miami (j/k); E said he might have been  offered as an Offensive Lineman (while there were no highlight's of him there  , he does appear to be athletic & may transition to OL fairly well).

  4. I was disappointed with the targeting foul on Jeremiah Dinson. I guess by the letter of the law, it was the correct call, but I still didn’t like it. As Dinson said after the game, “It is what it is”.

I thought that was a borderline call myself; Dinson didn't hit the Quarterback with the crown of his helmet, yes it was a high hit but was just a hit to the chest of the Quarterback.

  5. s easy as it is to point to the offensive line as the key to all our offensive woes, it’s becoming clear as time goes by that we have no running backs who can pass protect. Kam Martin is apparently too small, and Boobee Whitlow got bowled over backwards on the TD pass to Seth Williams.  Fortunately, that was one of the plays where Stidham chose to deliver the ball and take the hit. Malik Millerlooked like he was on the way to becoming our third down running back because of his ability to pass protect, then he got run over for a sack. Miller is big enough to do that job, but he will need to be coached up on not taking a play off.

JMR- I know that K-Mart might be small, but there were a couple instances of him standing in there to pass protect where he was willing to stand in there and while it was a mighty crash, he did slow them down. I will take willingness any day over  just moving out of the way like Miller did later in the game.

Thanks Coach!  This is easily the best analysis I've read since the game Saturday.  A couple of points to add, at random stream of thought, to what you said ...

    • I was surprised how positive you were on the Center position.  It's seems like every time I watched Kim, he was getting stoned, knocked around or otherwise being at the nucleus of lack of movement in the middle.
    • What's your thoughts on the RB situation?  I like Kam Martin, I really do.  But IMO, he's a outside guy or someone we need to get the ball in space.  Boobie is the guy if we're going to pound the inside zone.
    • What has happened with TD Moultry?  Seems he went from fast rising star to have taken two tremendous steps back.
    • Cox running the ball is a wasted play.
    • Any one else find themselves screaming at our cornerbacks ... "turn your head around, play the ball!"
    • Ryan Davis was a refreshing burst at punt returner.  Can't remember the last time we've had that implosive potential back there.  He'll bust a few this year, it's just a matter of time ...
    • Derrick Brown will not only be playing on Sundays but he will be a first rounder.  Legit talent.  Love watching him play.
    • I hate our extra point formation.  Just line up and kick the ball.  I'm fine with being "aggressive" but time and time again it seems the cuteness just creates trouble for us, instead of creating some kind of advantage.
    • Glad you mentioned Big Kat leaving his feet ... definitely a scream at the TV moment for me.
    • My other player of the game, Darrell Williams ... love watching that kid play.  He's going to have a big year.

Agree on Darrell Williams, he seemed to be everywhere.

I think I was more frustrated with Iggy's play than anyone else, also think it was him that blocked in the back on Ryan Davis's long punt return (unnecessary).

Gene Chizik thought JB Grimes unit did very well considering the opponent.

Was glad to see us get Seth Williams involved in the passing game, and across the middle at that.

Only saw Shivers get one carry but it was a big one for the 1st down.

Slayton, Hastings and Craig-Meyers are all averaging at or well over 20 yards per catch. R. Davis has 58 catches this year and is on the verge of being AU's all-time single season record holder for catches. As a receiving corps, ours are averaging 13.5 yards per catch with 18 TD's. Our opponents are averaging 10.8 yards per catch with 11 TD's. Apparently they are learning something at Auburn.

    Thank You Mikey.
