What an absolute freaking embarrassment! Achor Achor or Dillon Mitchell would’ve been beasts in this offense and we settle for a guy that could only average 15 minutes a game at SMU? Extremely disappointing

Can we please delete this ridiculous thread? This is embarrassing. We clearly need a new pitching coach. That’s the problem.

Dudes hated me for saying it but I don’t know if Freeze was really hireable for anyone other than us. No one seemed interested and we seemed to bid against ourselves there. All that being said, that was probably a 7-8 in terms of the “this move feels really nasty” scale
I think Dior would be about a 10? He got plea bargained down from a felony, which is probably the only reason he can even be playing this sport right now. Dudes can say what they want about how bad the Miller thing was and how shameful it was he didn’t sit, but they at least recruited a guy who was initially completely spotless. We’d be taking this dude in…knowing EXACTLY what he did
I agree - Hard Pass for me

Dior Johnson…wow
What are your thoughts DTR? Kid definitely has baggage - type that I definitely do NOT approve of. But where do you draw the line on 2nd chances?

Yea, just saw that Duke went to Oklahoma. As others have stated, it is because we basically have no more NIL for basketball. Is anyone else concerned about that statement? If anything, basketball deserves wayyy more NIL than football based off results alone and also that Pearl is the best coach on campus, yet we can only get 1 guy from the portal? That’s very disappointing honestly.
So my next question is where does Auburn go from here? I am assuming now they will definitely be going to Juco or Division 2 for the last two spots, because we need a backup point guard and a power forward. We could have had a top 5 roster, but now it’s taken a hit with no good options behind Pegues as well as Chaney Johnson getting the start for sure, who’s a good backup but not a starter in my opinion.
This completely blows my mind - we were able to convince Broome to come back, we have a team of mostly seniors… this may be the best shot that we’ve had at our first National Championship. And then you can’t even fill out the team because we don’t have the resources…

Hokanson is saying that we’ve spent all our NIL. Are you kidding me?!
There’s absolutely no excuse for this! We are a big time program that still refuses to act like one.
At a time when Alabama just went to their first Final 4 and supposedly just “passed” our program in basketball, where is the sense of urgency to win our first national championship?! We can’t even fill out a stinkin roster.
Bruce should have the resources to go get any player that he wants! This is pathetic.

We had multiple top 10 recruits coming in on that team. Talent was not an issue when Dean took over. He’s just been a disappointment. Time to pony up the cash and get a real coach.

I can’t start a new thread, but staying on topic about power forwards, Achor Achor from Samford just hit the portal. Any chance Pearl takes a look at him?
Dear Lord, I hope so! He shot almost 45% from 3 - averaged 16 pts, 6 reb - scored 23 pts, 8 rebs against Kansas in the tournament. Big time want!

AMEN!
The Administration is scared to shine light on anything negative, like they choose to shield the Family from just how crappy some of the athletic teams have become.
My response to your above post is in no way negatively directed at you Cameron.
I informed my kids early on that I would pay 100% of their education but I would NOT subsidize stupidity. I feel exactly the same way about Auburn Athletics.
We've all watched the Auburn Administration make one stupid decision after another and they've systematically wasted well over $100million in just 3 yrs buying out football staffers year after year after year. Firing head coaches, coordinators, position coaches, support staff while we alum and fans all watched the 3-peat losing seasons circle the drain. Auburn Athletics are not good stewards of the finances and the BOT have been enablers to the administrators who have made one poor choice after another.
We as a family, choose to financially support AU Academics and it will stay that way.
Jerry,
I completely understand your position. I might even agree with you, but here’s my reservation. If everyone had that same attitude, then how do we ever get better if the athletic department isn’t being supported? I agree that our leadership has made terrible decisions. But choosing not to support the athletic department isn’t holding the leadership accountable, it’s only putting AUBURN further and further behind. The question is how do we hold the leadership accountable and make sure our money is being used wisely?
With NIL - I believe Auburn fans have an opportunity - now more than ever before - to directly impact the product in the field. The more money we generate, then the better players we will have and the better chance to win a National Championship in something other than equestrian. I don’t believe it’s possible for them to use NIL money on coaches buyouts or other stupid decisions we’ve made in the past.

I stopped looking after scrolling through about three pages of undisclosed. That was very informative. And the first girl, she is on every commercial for whatever clothesline that she is promoting. Don’t even think she is the best gymnasts on their team. Point being, she is attractive and happens to be a gymnast.
just curious, if you’re so hung up on Auburn being the best in every sport that they participate in, are you donating anything substantial to OTV?
Some of us aren’t in a position to donate anything “significant”. But I promise you that if I was… you better believe I would be pouring my money into OTV! And I would expect any hardcore Auburn fan to do the same.
And that’s what I don’t understand. Your money goes further now more than ever! We are supposedly funded by 4-5 different billionaires (according to WDE). It’s now LEGAL to pay for players. If we truly have the money, we should be competitive in EVERY sport.
There are sports that we’ve never been truly competitive in, but we should have an opportunity to change that now. I don’t expect the NIL “Wild West” to last forever…. But while it’s here, we should be getting the talent we need in EVERY sport.

Never mind - they were both drafted. But… both should’ve came back for one more year.

Can he or Justin Rodgers come back if they don’t get drafted?

We need a Brady Manek type at the 4 - big man that can shoot - to put us over the top.

Could you even imagine the negative recruiting that Oats would be able to do if he balled out at UAT? We would never hear the end of it.

I was one that didn’t want to see Aden transfer. I wanted to see him develop into the stud that Bruce and coaches believed that he would be. If he goes to Alabama and succeeds, then that would definitely be a “slap in the face”.

Is it HF struggling to land an elite QB or as GWill said...AU still not paying top dollar for QB's?
Point taken. But I’m also referencing the fact that he never had an elite QB at Ole Miss either. It’s a trend he needs to break.

Losing Longstreet to Mike Elko is a tough pill to swallow. Hugh Freeze continues to struggle to land an elite QB.

Wow! What a HUGE transfer addition. We may be seeing our women’s basketball program starting to turn the corner. Now we just a big WOman and we’re a contender.
-
Butch Thompson is not the problem! He’s one of the greatest things to ever happen to Auburn baseball. Get rid of him and we’ll go back to where we were before we got him. The pitching coach and NIL are the biggest issues. We desperately need Tim Hudson back.
We also need more people with money ALL IN on this program.

BOOM!! War Eagle, JP Pegues!

Absolutely baffling - I just wish the stuff that happened at Arkansas would happen at Alabama instead.

There’s always a choice. Our money people know what’s at stake. They can choose to get serious about winning and doing whatever it takes to win…. or we can continue to get beat out by Cincinnati, UCF, etc. We had a chance to have an absolutely loaded lineup that could compete for a National Championship. It was within hour grasp and we freaking blew it!
