  1. E, i am impressed, if you are sending out messages @ 3 am in the morning. 👍
  2. So he's a shooting guard? His tweeter says he will commit right after the EBLT camp, which I guess is going on this summer?
  3. I always thought Smith had the body type for a tackle, and didn't understand why he wasn't groomed that way at Auburn. I felt he could have been a first rounder if he had learned his craft as a tackle in college....
  4. looking at Atlanta's picks(3 pretty high picks before GS has their first pick)...it seems like the Hawks could be setting it up to get Okeke to me with one of those. A local guy...with all that potential, could be a good PR move.
  5. I will say this...If we land Kessler I feel that will be the greatest recruiting job Pearl has done since he has been here. Why? Looking at it on paper..Kessler was either going to follow the Kessler legacy at Georgia, or he was going to sign w/ a blueblood. I felt and said so, regardless of what i was hearing from time to time how we had a chance, that we did not even have a 'good' chance. I thought the closest we get was 3rd. I thought the reasons I gave were just too strong to turn him to Auburn... I realize..as in past recruiting wars w/ the top level players...we have come close...so close..and still lost out..(I'm talking major sports, not just basketball)....so I am still not going to bet my house on it..
  6. Interesting that one of Kesslers best friend is Powell. Mmm. Seems Pearl may be using that connection to find any way possible to get Kessler to Auburn instead of Duke. Smart. Smart.
  7. I think looking at him, his arms are definitely too short for Tackle, but they could be looking at him at center too for the future...
  8. Isn't Gordon a true project at his position? Really raw, but with all the right body dimensions for a PF...
  9. I saw some film on him, and he has height, good quick shooting release, pretty quick feet. So what makes him ONLY a 3*? To be from KY, and not get a sniff from your homestate basketball schools like KY, Louis, or Memphis makes me wonder what he lacks? I see he is not strong, especially when he goes to the basket. Not sure about his ball handling or D. I can see where he fits in at the SG spot..
  10. Gus caved in because of...? He definitely needs to put on a LOT of weight to be an effective OL. No way he contributes his first year...
  11. 😪😡I never thought this would happen. We were punked. But some of it is our own fault. The Steelers way doesn't work when the player is an elite player. They want 'guaranteed' money up front. Steeler's management may need to rethink their contract ways.....
  12. That's how i saw it too. I read so many posts, consistently that most of our fans thought we would be better b/c we got WIley and Purifoy back (who were expected to be starters), and w/ transfer Doughty and Okeke getting better in his soph year that we were poised to be even better than last year. There were complaints last year how Murray didn't play well down the stretch bc his height hurt him finally against the better teams. The only player most didn't like losing was Heron b/c they knew what he brought, and then having a solid backup PG, and the only concern there was we had not recruited a quality one until we finally signed the PG JUCO McCormick. I think Murray's solid rebounding stats, Heron's 5-6 boards a game and muscle didn't get replaced due to Wiley being hurt most of the year so far. McLemore and Spencer simply do not take up space or muscle in the interior, therefore our offensive rebounding has really suffered. HArper is tired, and the minutes that McCormick gives, while helpful, his D is not as good as Mitchell's. And we are simply not consistently good enough this year, as we have lost games for different reasons it seems.
  13. If it was WH, he would be Waffling the DL...but doesn't sound as good as pancaking does it? (And i love IHOP pancakes)!
  14. Anyone have the tweet of Auburn Football when Pickens picked GA? Now THAT would have been an interesting view....
  15. definitely not now, after signing 2 top RBs. Now we have what 6 RBs(Boobie, Martin, SHiver, Miller, and the new signees)?
  16. I think some of our players reactions like Schwartz, Miller, and with Pappoe there for the signing, shows that Pickens was indicating to them he was ALL AU on his visits and tweets and any communication Pickens had w/ our players. To hear Pickens flip, just made them all mad and react, bc of probably what he had been telling them all. Don't blame them...
  17. this is what I think of TB. Great championship player yes....but
  18. No. I am hoping he works out and I really don't have a problem with it at this time. I felt that Malzahn needed to change his recruiting of RBs as we have not done as well in the recent past. I was thinking more of what happened with Craig and Willis. It just didn't work out for whatever reason. Some on here thought Craig was only good at the recruiting part, and was criticized for his WR development. I can also remember for years when everyone wanted Garner to come back, but others said he was not the cleanest w/ his recruiting techniques, and his DL coaching was not up to the quality we needed. Well, it seems he has worked out very well for us. All I am saying is that those that clamor for ex AU player/coaches, need to understand they are not always the best fit for what we need as a top level competitive team w/ playing as well as recruiting.
  19. I really wasn't directing this directly at you, so that is why I said i was somewhat kidding. It just triggered this thought, as over time on these forums, I see us (and at times me included), throwing out names, and wonder why our HC doesn't try to bring in those coaches, and when he brings in a coach we don't agree with or never heard of, we're doomed. It's like some on here (who have no connection to sources of any kind), feel that bringing in an ex AU player as a coach is always the best solution to our problem, bc they will always do the best job for their alma mater. p.s. I have no problem with the Memphis AC, as he's got to be an upgrade in recruiting to Grimes...
  20. It always kills me on here, how we know what is best for Gus in hiring his assistants. So let's just throw out the coach at Memphis and maybe Gus will read our posts, and give him a call. 🙃 (i'm kidding a little here)
  21. that's not on coaching. Again, as someone else said, the Centers were surrounded w much better defensive players such as those you mentioned (Murray for sure, and some w Heron (who did get his share of rebounds, if you look at his stats).... I also think Anferee is still not the same totally as he was before he tore his ankle up. He doesn't seem as smartly aggressive as he was.
  22. agree with this. There are inside players that are great defenders in the middle b/c they have other skills other than height that help them defend( positioning, leaping ability, shot blocking...etc). I think we have that too in Okoro and Akingbolo certainly bring defensive skills to the perimeter and inside. It would be nice to have some bulk inside too, so it would be nice to have Wiley one more year, but even with his current injury, he has to try the NBA, even though he may be a risk due to chronic injuries. But it could be still just growing pains of a young man growing into his body...
