  1. And if what @ellitor is saying about LSU being paired with OU is final, then I believe the cajun tigers will get aTm and Ole Miss to round out their permanent 3.
  2. If they're leaning towards giving us Vandy, then bama probably gets State.
  3. I don't disagree. Even @ Ole Miss was winnable that year. But we were in the preseason top 10 with dark horse considerations to contend for the SEC West behind LSU. The anticipation of a full off season installing the 'Tony Franklin system' (lol) had me thinking we'd come out swinging in '08. Just my opinion of course, based from preseason expectations, anything less than at the very least a 10-win season or top 10 poll finish was a let down.
  4. oh, if it were only just specials teams woes that made 2008 seems so promising in the preseason to turning out to be an all out disaster. One of the most painful four quarters of football ever witnessed. AU - 3, MooU - 2 Never forget.
  5. These are facts... I haven't visited Nashville in a while but that's a great weekend to catch AU @ Vandy on Saturday and possibly a Titans game on Sunday if the schedule aligns.
  6. A majority of those wins against AU were in in the WW1 and WW2 era. In the modern football era Auburn generally has no problems with Vandy except in seasons when AU is near or below .500.
  7. Looks like the committee eyed this board heavily, sided with the strong campaign of @AUwent and saw it your way. Cheers 🍻 Meanwhile ...Vandy 🥱💤 Oh well... hopefully it becomes the annual tune-up game most of us expect that prepares the teams for tougher conference foes.
  8. It makes me think 2019 would have been far more special than 9-4 with that defense to complement.
  9. Let's assume we'll get immediate improvement on O-line in year 1 under Freeze. Jarquez goes over 1k rushing this season. Who steps up as t he 1K receiver this year?
  10. *That's a pretty tall corner prospect at 6'3. Now I'm curious about his other measurables. * I'm banking on seeing improvement in the trenches with an upgrade in talent and position coaching. This helps Jarquez gets his 1,000+ yd rushing this season and possibly close to another 300 receiving if he's used as a receiving option. I'm glad he's getting shine in spite of the 'meh' overall records the past two seasons. On3 obviously thinks highly of 'quez as he's the only player returning on their list whose team finished below .500. They too believe he benefits from the coaching change, improved scheme, etc.
  11. Depends upon what factors are considered to preserve the rivalry as an annual one. IMO, the 1990s SEC expansion and divisional split was largely responsible for creating this rivalry. During that era, both happened to be very good and those games usually had more early fall national importance since they played in September and were usually highly ranked. Fan intensity matched on both sides. Prior to that, they didn't have much history. The intensity of that game has also waned over the years.
  12. I hated AU lost the rivalry with UF when the SEC changed the conference scheduling format from two permanent cross division rivals to one
  13. @Viper Memory's failing me. I don't know how I could've left him off the list after the Brody sack game. Thank you sir!
  14. @AUwent If Saban is there for another 10 years, good on him. Makes for great Iron Bowl TV and can potentially help Auburn win a few more recruiting battles if we play them close and win some. When Auburn has recruited well, it's not as if Saban was leaps and bounds better. Auburn has beaten Saban four times with Chiz and Malzahn as HC. During that stretch, there were four AU losses to bama were close at the halves with AU leading once or twice if I recall correctly. When Auburn hasn't recruited well and/or had poor coaching, it's been occasionally reflected in blowouts against bama and other SEC powers. Auburn has a strong historic recruiting pipeline in the state of Florida that goes back decades. Like, during a time when Miami, FSU and eventually Florida became perennial powerhouses. Proximity also played a huge role in that. Besides, neither one of those programs are the monsters they once were. Will UF have some years where they're top15? Absolutely. But they've been hit or miss just like Auburn has since Urban departed them. If Freeze can leverage that into consistently bringing top Florida talent here, then I want to play the Gators every year so Auburn has direct exposure playing the 'flagship' state team. We don't know if we will be 'doomed to mediocrity' under Freeze by playing these schools. I'd rather let the story write itself.
  15. Even almighty bama was not always as dominant as they are now. Between Bear Bryant and Gene Stallings there were the Ray Perkins years for them. Between Stallings and Saban there were the Dubose, Price and Fran years. It's all cyclical.
