  1. We need to find a way to finish games. This team is too experienced and talented to lose huge leads. There is a balance between being controlled, but also having a killer mindset when the opponent starts a run. The excitement for the year will end quickly come tournament time if we repeat our previous mistakes.

I love watching this defense though. Curious to see who Pearl has defending Sears the majority of the time.

Flanagin's 1st year and 2nd year where he was asked to much showed his value. After the injury he did not seem to be the same. This year he is both healthy and trusting his achiles and is looking good.

He would be a great piece on this team and could help us but the issue is who he would replace. The only player i could see him replace is Berman.

If he wants a shot at pro ball NBA at some other country he is better off at Ole Miss as he would be a more integral part of the offense.

He looks good on a weak Ole Miss team just like he looked good on a weak Auburn team with Cooper.

The number of people who think Flanny was a turnover machine blows my mind. He averaged 33% less turnovers than Wendell Greene per game. I guess it’s a residual feeling from Al’s freshman year when he played out of position because we didn’t have a PG? Anyway, dude was a beast and helped us win a ton of games. Now he’s helping ole Miss win a bunch of games, no surprise.

Greene controlled the ball exceedingly more than Flannigan, and I'm glad he's gone as well. But Flannigan made crucial mistakes on offense and never learned to dribble off the pass. Once again, good on defense, but a liability on offense.

The greater "What if" in my opinion is what would have happened if Sharife Cooper would have stayed another year to play with Jabari & Kessler. How far would have AU made it then? And would Sharife have landed in a better spot in the NBA? Would Thor have even played much if he had been on a team with Jabari, JWill and Flan?

I mean, look at this scholly dist. chart. Not sure how Purifoy still is on the list, but that's some amazing top end talent if those full senior and junior classes could have all played together.

Does anyone know how Purifoy could still be qualified as a Junior? This has got to be a mistake.

  5. Flannigan couldn't mold into his own strengths. He was always trying to do more than his skill set allowed. He was a hell of defender and could make plays in comfortable situations, but his miscomings affected his overall value for the team.

Really?   You do realize we've won 8 straight by double digits right?  Closest being the A&M game Tuesday.  Seems to me we're finishing teams off pretty well.   Granted A&M was closer down the stretch than the final score indicates, but its still a double digit win.

I haven't seen it yet. Outside of just the final scores, if a team is actually successful scoring against us there won't be double digit wins. I guess we will see how Auburn reacts more down the line in the SEC. I would like to see more games like Arkansas.

I still don't want to believe we're THAT good yet, but when I see 4 out of the top 5 lose in two days, and we just had a year where 3 out of the final 4 were 5 seeds or worse, I mean....

We just REALLY need one more bonafide scorer out of the guard group. I think one of Jaylin/Johni will be scoring most games. I think one of Chad/KD will be scoring most games. I don't necessarily want Tre to be a scorer as that's not him, but we aren't getting enough scoring punch out of the Tre/Aden/Denver trifecta. The offensive metrics being as good as they are with the up and down scoring we've gotten from that bunch (and zero from CMo/Chaney) is honestly jaw dropping to think about

Yeah I'm not holding my breath. But it's truly nice to see from an unbiased accurate system like Kenpom to finally have Auburn at the top at least for now.

I would like to see KD and someone else take more opportunities driving to the basket during the dead periods after the big Auburn runs. There's a specific basketball mindset you have to have if you want to finish teams off. We don't have that yet.

As of now, we are projected to lose 4 SEC games and are underdogs only to away Alabama and away Tennessee.

Is that ranking at any point or right before the tournament?

The stat I'm referring to are the rankings right before the tournament begins. Unless you pay for KenPom, you will only see the rankings by year after the tournament is over.

Edit: You can also see the current rankings of course.

I think the argument could be made for KD, CBM, and Tre to start. But i think Pearl likes the flow of the 2 lineups right now. The opponent comes out with there best lineup and plays us even and feels good about themselves. Both teams sub and AU has zero drop off and may even start playing better. How many times we've started to slow to have backups come in and get us started? Its rare to have a team this even between starters and subs and i think its brilliant to divide the lineups like he has. Constant pressure on the other team.

I think KD is most valuable off the bench after the tone of the game has been set. He is an ideal 6th man who will give you momentum both offensively and defensively and is a perfect contrast to some of our more passive players.
