I feel like I'm too hard on Broome most of the time, but his help defense just seems non-existent. Does anyone feel like that? It's like he can't react fast enough.

Actually, no. We won the opening tip and had the last possession of the 1st half, and the opening possession of the 2nd half.  Is it who has the possession arrow to end the 1st half?

I've just never paid attention to how it works.

It is determined who gets the ball in the second half based on the possession arrow.

Losses will happen, that's obvious. But losses with lack of effort is bad. That's what was on the floor today. A team that clearly didn't want it and it showed.

I question whether some of them even watched the game. You can see Auburn standing waiting on rebounds and one Miss State player flying in with the effort. I just can't understand a 20 rebound difference. That was the difference in winning this away game by 10+.

Like I said, most AU b'ball fans live on the mountaintop or the verge of jumping off a tall building.  You're the latter I see.

You are the type to shrug the shoulders and move on while continuing hoping for the best. The effort should have been fixed after the Bama showing. A championship team wants to win.

Well obviously as a player you don't want to just accept it and not learn from the losses or road struggles.  But nonetheless, this is a deep league this year.  We're sending 8 or 9 teams to the tournament more than likely.  Some think 10 but that may be a stretch.  Road wins are going to be precious commodities this year, against all but the worst teams.

You don't accept that as a player, a coach, or a fan. I'm not blaming the lack of effort on playing away. This team plays mentally and physically weak.

I think you're going to find that a lot of teams in this league are going to play way better at home than on the road.  It's happened a lot already.  Tennessee lost by 5 to this same MSU team in Starkville then stomped Alabama by 20 in Knoxville.  Kentucky stomped MSU in Lexington then got demolished by SC in Columbia.

    Get used to it.

Beyond how correct you are, it's such a horrible basketball mindset to have.  Nobody wants to get used to that. The effort was a 2 out of 10.

I don't think so. Last night's game was lost in the first half. Broome played well, the rest were all sub-par until after half time. The turnovers were horrible and out of character. Do that at home and we'll lose again.

Won't happen at home. If we can't beat Alabama on our home court then we need to move on to football.

Depth had no impact . Their rotation is conditioned to run and gun. Even with the rotation some of the Auburn guys were winded. The thing is look at who Alabama has played and look at who Auburn has played. I don’t see how some a predicting a 20 plus win at home. Alabama has been battled tested . I would be happy getting a win. Another posted has mentioned I believe it was @AURex who said something like we will find out how good this team is when the competition gets tougher. Anyways let’s get this Dub on Saturday.

The win is guaranteed in Neville.

Lol. You should check my history a little more if you think that then.

We didn't give him things we don't have the players that can match up with him one on one. So we need to double him and make somebody else beat us.

But I don't see what that convo has to do with you saying they played their best. The question you have to ask yourself when you say that is what did the guy do that he doesn't normally do? That's the question.

My point of all this is Alabama will not and can not play much better than they did last night against this Auburn team. Our defense and depth is going to prevent them from having that kind of game.

Once again who played their best game? If this is the best the team has ever played then you would have at least 3 guys playing their best.

Once again I know Mark didn't play his best and their second leading scorer didn't score one point....

But if you guys want to pretend that was as good as they can play run with it..... What do I know?

You don't seem to give our team the credit it deserves, especially on defense. An individual "playing their best" is subjective. Auburn isn't going to let multiple guys on the opposition go off on them.

I think we gave Mark Sears too many opportunities.

It sound like to lessen the blow of Auburn losing it’s easy to say Alabama played their best or close to their best. That’s wasn’t their best and played way better in their lose to Purdue.
IMO Auburn didn’t have to play their best to win either. Just needed to run the offense and control the tempo how they started the game

Nothing about it is lessening a blow. I'm all for giving a team respect after they beat us, but that was as close to their best as they will ever get against us. It was at home in a crazy environment and they pulled away by 14 in the first half to make it tough. They will get beat by 8+ guaranteed when they come to Auburn in an arena that isn't falling apart. You can go ahead and place your bets.

lol no dude! You are pushing this guy on us when AU isn’t even involved in his recruitment! 😂😂 you are just screaming in to the abyss at this point! 😁🤭

Seems like we are involved now.

I don't know why people keep saying they played their best game. Who on their team did? Mark is their best player and he certainly didn't. I guess maybe#12 did.

Estrada didn't even score did he? He's their second best scorer.... We need to play Donaldson more.

We still need that lead guard that we've been needing the past 4/5 years. We have to be able to make good decisions in the clutch or we won't ever meet our potential.

They played close to their best game against our defense.

Next year we should have a solid nucleus of returning and new Freshman players without counting what Pearl and company will pull in from the Portal.

Current players I expect to Return:

PG - Aden Holloway (Can play SG)

    PG - Tre Donaldson

SG - Denver Jones (best on ball defender on the team).

    PF - Chaney Johnston

    SF - Chad Baker-Mazra

    C - Dylan Cardwell

    Current Player that might return

    C - Johni Broome

    Incoming Freshman

PG - Tahaad Pettiford (Can play SG)

SF - Jahki Howard -  He will be better than Chris Moore

    Key players losing:

Jaylin Williams - Will be hard ro replace

KD Johnson - Spark plug who adds frenetic defense and can score hitting the 3 and going to rack with reckless abandon.

Broome is a big question mark if he returns we will be as good or better in 4 out of 5 positions (PG, SG, SF, Center).

PG - better even without Pettiford as both Aden and Tre will have a year or more of playing at College level. Add in Pettiford and we will be better.

SF - CBM returning and Howard replacing Moore we should be better.

SG  - Starting SG Denver Jones is returning and will be able to use Holloway and Pettiford to play minutes KD currently get. I think we will be a little better offesively but a little worse defensively so basically a wash.

C - Both return and we will be better as one more year of growth for both Broome and Cardwell.- If Broome does not return I expect Cardwell will play more minutes and with extra time is capable of 10+ points and 8+ boards a  game along with 2-3 blocks a game. Keep Broome we are better lose Broome, then Cardwell can pick up some slack but will need another Center from Portal.

PF - Chaney has beed a decent pickup but is not in same class as Jaylin. Jaylin will be our biggest loss and we will need help from the Portal.

I think we can be as good as current team and a couple of the right Portal players we could be better than this year.

Are we for sure losing KD?

Saw the video of Roll Tide Willie and RW. That dude looks rough.

Yeah that clip is embarrassing. He comes down for an official visit and they have him with a drunk redneck and they both have on Gildan brand Walmart shirts with a generic Blitz Bama Blitz. Only way he goes to Bama at this point is in a free Lambo and dressed in a nice t-town suit.
