  1. It's all about SW in my opinion. If Sean can be serviceable then the offense should hum along. If Auburn can keep oklahoma's offense off the field then maybe this game will stay out of the 60's
  2. I was being a little sarcastic because the only way to get a new OC is to fire the old OC. I don't think Rhett is going to end up anywhere else and this season isn't going to get Rhett fired. Everyone said that Gus giving Rhett the play calling was to give Gus a reason to let Rhett go at the end of the season. All Rhett did was destroy 2 SEC teams and beat two other good teams before Sean and Pettway went down. If Briles doesn't get swept up in the next couple weeks then I'm sure he'd be happy to get a consultant or other lower level job. Some paycheck is better than no paycheck. Maybe Auburn comes out and plays lights out on offense next year and Rhett gets a promotion somewhere. KB could walk in and be the OC and next in line to get back to relevance Seems like that is working for Kiffin and Sarkisian.
  3. So is Kendall coming in as a "consultant"? I don't think Rhett is going anywhere. It also sounds like Stidham is leaning heavily to Auburn without any changes being made.
  4. I think we'll run the same offense we have for the past couple weeks. Then I think we'll run the same offense with the 2nd team and then with the third. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
  5. Score more than the other guy is a win every time
  6. That was the same play Sean got sacked on against LSU. Both times SW should have thrown it away. I'd have to go back and look but I feel like there is limited options on that play if the primary receiver isn't open.
  7. Last night was Gus's worst nightmare. Sean White had an off night and it killed the offense. JF3 came in but it became pretty clear that auburn was running 9/10 of the time. The LSU game becomes a must win. TaMu dominated Auburn offensively and defensively last night. Sean is still only a sophmore and Auburn's best option to have a complete offense. I say stick with him and he'll get better every game. He will win Auburn more games than he loses.
  8. Auburn's Oline will have to run block better than they have the past two weeks. The only times we got significant running plays against Clemson was when JF3 was in. Against Arky State there are a lot of stops at the line of scrimmage. The number of explosive plays helped offset the 1-2 yard run. Last year Auburn won because TaMu's run D was soo bad. Gus needs to get Pettway more carries to help wear down the TaMu front for Kerryon. Kerryon will be elite in the next year but he is not quite there yet.
  9. A team improves the most from week one to week two so lets see how much better we look against an inferior opponent.
  10. If you know the other team snaps it on the clap of the qbs hands then it's easy
  11. Defense is great. Offense is worse than last year
  12. We threw a slant against UGA last year and JJ threw it behind and over the reciever straight to the Db. Slants are short yardage plays. Auburn's big receiver is 6'2 so not that big. I remember Florida eating our lunch in 2000 because we had 2 short dbs and grossman kept throwing it over them to his tall receivers. Rb or kicker is the only position I feel like a playmaker can be less than 5'11. Davis had one great catch against TaMu on a wheel route.
  13. Auburn has 3 5'9 receivers! I hope they are good blockers/high jumpers.
  14. We need to bring back that coach who took a 3-9 team and turned them into a 12-2 team. Is he available? Aside from a loss to the #1 team on the road, a fumbled snap, and shootout against Bama on the road his next team wasn't terrible either. The only real black eye was the UGA game that year. Maybe we'll get him back after we get rid of Gus
  15. 700-1000 people there so should be plenty of info floating around about the results. Gus said Woody played with 3rd a lot.
  16. Last season was pretty close. Auburn replaced Qb, Rb, Hb, Fb, Te, Sammie at Wr, and a 4 year starter at center. I actually feel better about this season. Sean, Kerryon, Cox, and most of our Wrs have significant playing time under their belt. Its still early but it seems like Sean has the leg up on JF3 so far. I don't know how JJ fits into the scheme of things other than being a senior leader. I'd like to see JF3 go live with Woody. It would show Gus how much he's progressed since spring and whether he's ready to take the lead. If he goes out and makes plays then he's the man. If he goes out and makes bad throws then its the Sean show. His skill set is best shown in game type situations. Gus knows what he has in Sean and JJ.
  17. It may have been the angle but Sean looked taller than everyone except JJ.
  18. When is the first Scrimmage? I'd assume that's when the qb battle will really start to weed out the winner.
  19. based on the whole minute and a half of WR video I think NCM could be the next Duke or Sammie as far as big receivers go. Eli had the best hands and looked more natural in the drills. Of course if that was a 3 minute video I could completely change my mind. I think this offense needs a Darvin Adams more than it needs a Sammie or Duke. Darvin IMO was the most dependable WR Auburn has had since Frank Sanders.
  20. I remember thinking "why is our defense so bad when our head coach is a defensive guru?" During the Chizik era. Looking back I'd be interested to see how many of those 22 games were on his watch and how many have been Gus? Chizik's defenses may have been on par with what we consider good defense today. I was bored this weekend and watch parts of games from 2010. Our front 7 played with some serious aggression. Dbs not so much
  21. i remember that 30pt goal being a big deal when tubs was coach. I can't remember who it was we lost to and scored 30. I want to say it was UGA or Bama
  22. According to Stats previous post on highs and lows Sean had right at a 130 rating in limited starts. Things to be considered: he's was limited in his first couple starts, he was injured in his last couple starts. I gotta believe a healthy Sean with a full off season of practice with the 1st team improves on 130. Jovon, Martin, Kerryon, and Miller should add up to 150/game. 200 yards with that backfield should be an average output. A top 50 defense would be one of the best under Gus. Fingers crossed
  23. 2007 is surprising. I don't recall Auburn having a very dynamic offense that year. The offense was soo lack luster Tubs sacked Gorgeous Borges for Franklin which sealed his fate. I'm sure Auburn had a top 25 defense that year.
