The problem I have is that fans are griping and blaming the wrong thing.

DJ isn't the one who blew the play and it wasn't the DC that called the play. As has been stated, one can't cover that long. You're right. That's why you have safeties over the top to play the ball. One on the man, and one on the ball.  Now imagine the pass again-- DJ where he was, but you had a safety drifting over and undercutting the receiver -- it's an easy pbu.

4 across the back of the end zone and 4 on the goal line watching for the ball.

I would have been tempted to get milroe to run. Unlikely he scores on a 31 yard run.

    Man, it's still stings.

Not sure what you are disagreeing with, but clearly I stated that boneheaded decisions were made by the coaching staff.    If you don’t think that players win games, then you don’t know sports.   An Auburn receiver dropped a touchdown last night and no one is saying anything about it.   Was that coaching that made that call?   And did coaching drop the pass?   It all comes down to making a play.
Again, there have been plenty of boneheaded mistakes by the coaching staff.  I think none more egregious than the QB rotation.   Ashford was never the starter and really should have been moved to a different position or regulated to scout team.

Didnt says players don't win games. I said we had the players to do it last night. Maybe reread what I wrote.

Sorry, but disagree with everything about this.   Jimmy’s and Joe’s when football games.    Have there been questions and frustration with coaching decisions? Absolutely!  But that’s going to happen in every loss no matter the outcome.    The what if game can be played over and over.

Sorry but I disagree with everything about this. The jimmy's and Joe's were clearly sufficient last night. The coaches made critical judgement errors last night to give bama a change to win the game. All year that has happened starting with the qb rotation every other play for the first 4-5 games.

This take is another example of not taking in all into account in context and reflecting on the whole season. Go back and watch our loses. You can see it in every game. Of course when the players are "off" and the coaches make boneheaded calls it is detrimental.

  4. Folks can say the players didn't execute. It's true, but the coaches have to make decisions to win the game. Fielding that punt and not rushing a qb on 4th and 30 is on the coaches. Terrible terrible decision making either by freeze or his coaches. Borderline incompetent.

In your opinion, do you think Jalen Milroe for Bama has a brain? Just in this game alone he ran 2 yards past the LOS then threw a pass on 2 different occasions. How do you view him?

I haven't watch milroe enough to make a judgement. Yes him throwing beyond the LOS twice in a game is brainless.

My comment on thorne wasnt just about last night. I've watched him all season. I watched him run out of bounds on 4th down against LSU. I've watched take sacks when you absolutely can't and had the chance the throw the ball away. But then I've seen him run and try and truck two bama linebackers like tonight. Its like he doesn't get it most of the time and then out of nowhere light comes on....for a bit.

What makes you think otherwise? Harsin literally gutted the program.

We took Bama and UGA to the wire and are going bowling with an offense where maybe 2 guys would start at any other school in the conference not named Vandy.

    the last 12 years

we'll see how this first recruiting class shakes out. hopefully it turns out as good as advertised.

Come on man, get a grip. Had the team ready, played a great game. Yea, should have won, every call on every play isn't going to be perfect for any coach. Players also have to make a play. CHF didn't drop the punt, CHF didn't cover the receiver. Yea, can't throw the kids under the bus either, plays happen and they put their heart in it. We've been on the good side of these types of games before, we will be again.

CHF going all in on recruiting and giving bama all they want in year one. Things didn't bounce our way at the end, but I'm not firing a coach or stopping supporting him when he's doing all the things we need to improve.

this is the kind of stuff that tires me. same stuff with gus. its like some folks have no concept of context. losing doesn't bother me. i mean, actually it does but losing to a better team, getting out played. you can't win them all. but to watch that game and ^^^^this is you come away is baffling.

we lose an absolutely inexcusable game to nmst last week then come in and play a game like that and lose in that way. letting robbie play at all, putting moore back for the PR, and only rushing 2 on 4th and 30 are......freakin inexcusable. but yeah, they almost won darn it. you guys buck up.

  8. he seems to have no brain. throwing past the line of scrimage, running out of bounds early when he could pick up a yard or 2 more, taking terrible sacks. but then, like you said he will run through linebackers picking up a big run. i dont get it.

  9. he was just under 50% completion rate last year with 250 attempts.

this year with 22 attempts.....50% completion rate.

im all for giving him the reigns because after watch PT run out of bound on 4th down id rather go down in flames with Robbie (if thats what happens) than watch PT anymore. i can just tell you that if robbie plays just as poorly the same folks will be pointing out all the stuff we already know.

You're basing his accuracy from last year. Dude looked accurate last Saturday with the few chances he was given. You act like he can't improve. If he is being coached properly, which I doubt, he will get better but you can't say he doesn't deserve a chance. He also threw some dimes against bama last year.

never said he didn't deserve a chance. you projected a lot into what i wrote. i don't act like he can't improve, see my last two sentences.

  11. i will say w/r/t playing Robbie i think the switching qbs in and out is to his advantage. most of the time when he comes in the defense assumes he is going to run and when he throws it catches them off guard. the problem then becomes if he stays in the defense starts daring us to pass because Robbie's accuracy is no better (likely worse) that PT's.

its not like we don't know Robbie's capabilities. we have seen him. if however freeze would tailor the offense to his strengths we might actually move the ball. that hasn't happened yet.

There are only 24 hours in a day. Maybe with the (needed) emphasis on recruiting the day to day coaching has taken a back seat? Just a thought.

i had this thought as well. is it possible that Freeze is 100% focused on recruiting and simply has let the coordinators do all the planning. as has been pointed out, freeze has made it clear he thinks the talent is almost nonexistent and this year the line for "success" is pretty low. the offense has not looked like his except for the uga game. i think this would be poor decision making on his part, but he is kind of known for poor decision making.

    That we did.

However, now we have to hold it together for six more games and expect the recruiting to continue to pull in top quality guys.
It’s gonna be rough on some of us guys as we have to really embrace the “rebuild” moniker. It sucks.

he hasn't pulled any top quality guys yet. i know from previous experence commits mean nothing. hopefully freeze can close better but we'll have to wait a see.

Take the 3 before the half and go in with the lead. It didn't matter in the end but it sure felt like it did then.

Agree, but what really killed is today was 3rd down on both sides of the ball. Defense had them at 3rd and 6 plus on ever scoring drive and could get off the field. Take that 3 before half and get one of those big 3rd and long and that's our W.
