There has been several times where the o line gave them adequate time and for three weeks now , announcers who have played this game at the highest level as echoed the sentiment of the head coach that they are not making the right reads. Additionally we got guys sailing the ball of WRs head consistently , I mean can’t complete a wide open pass? Come on. The Oline certainly is not top tier but they are serviceable. This excuse as to why QBs can’t hit wide open guys or see check downs as long gone it’s course.
I mean yesterday there was an obvious blitz. PT is looking at him. He doesn’t check down, he doesn’t audible. He just sits there, call the play and gets sacked. Come on man.
Yeah, PT seemingly can't see the whole field. Ever time he came off the field freeze was pissed and seemed to be pointing to the area of the field he should have been looking toward. The oline isn't top tier but I think more of the problem is the qb.
Honestly that haircut says a lot.

It doesn't really to me because he wouldn't have won it here without a better supporting case. Now if we had made a better coaching selection that Potatoes AU Rotten then maybe he would have had a chance to shine here.
yeah, thats not my point. just that we had a heisman caliber qb who was AU through and through and all the powers that be let him go (ran him off?) and now we have sub par qbs and no evidence that things will be better next years since we will likely be starting over again.

Has PT checked down once this year? Does this offense even have check downs?

The script for the first drive of the game set the tone. I have never coached a day of football in my life, but they did nothing to help Thorne settle into the game. He also didn’t do anything to help himself. Ditto for Robbie and Holden.
1000% correct

I’m not sure any of us are doubting the deficits we face, especially at QB. But I expected an organized game plan and play calling and settling in on an offensive identity 4 games in. CHF needs to take over play calling and decide what he wants to do the rest of the season. There’s no rhyme, reason, or rhythm to our offense at all.
I agree. First it was the qbs in and out. Today it was the running backs. I thought hunter was getting some momentum and then he gets yanked, not to mention when the run was work we start throwing incompletions. Its hard to watch.

Despite the ugliness of the cal game, I let that win give me too much hope for the rest of the season.

But why? There has to be a reason
I'm sure others can explain better but Gus's "system" didn't prepare guys for the NFL and that got used against him on the trail and frankly I don't think he was a good recruiter.
Harsin just didn't recruit at all.

Its really going to sting if Bo Nix ends up winning the heisman.

I’ve been prepared for being (.potentially significant) underdogs for the next month. But I have to admit I was thinking we’d be further along than we look at this point. We’ll see.
same. maybe just more hoping we would be further along than expecting it. we;ll see how it goes next week. beating a&m will get a lot of milege since we would be beating both jimbo and patrino.

big test next week. even if we manage to get a win in college station, im still not sure we'll know all that much. there are flashes of brilliance then no movement at all, offensively speaking.

Virtually every principled analysis like LP Tiger's shows the O line graded about a C- vs Cal. Two steps forward, 1 step back.
With the run heavy play calling, Freeze may be telling the O line y'all better LEARN how to run block before SEC play or you ain't going bowling.
my question was going to be about the oline.
seemed like Cal didn't think we could throw and sold out on the run. i also think they thought they would run a lot better against our defense than they did. the defense really won that game. the offense came through when they absolutely had to. despite the play being ugly i feel much better about this win than say mizzou last year.

I read all these comments/opinions regarding CHF and shake my head. I graduated from Auburn in 1981...I've seen a lot. Not only at Auburn but after serving my country for 20 years in the military. I served many Presidents during my service (1982-2003). This country tolerated a President that brought shame to the White House, elects and tolerates congressman and senators that readily manipulate the stock market for their own benefit and continues to supported past President that tried to overthrow the government. Trust me, we've got bigger problems in this country than the hiring of CHF.
Bad behavior justifying bad behavior. I think I remember that part in the creed.

You can't just add an ellipsis wherever you want to make it say something entirely different.
From the article you linked:
"Florida State's two-time All-America cornerback, Deion Sanders, was placed on six months' probation and fined $800 after pleading no contest to charges of grabbing a salesclerk's blouse and striking a security guard during a scuffle at a shopping mall in Fort Myers, Fla."
2 paragraphs later:
"In a 1986 survey of 350 colleges, the Philadelphia Daily News found that athletes had been implicated in at least 61 sexual assaults between '83 and '85."
I'm not getting into this debate, but you shouldn't just post wildly inaccurate statements. Don't you think it would be big news if Deion had 61 sexual assaults in 2 years?
thats hilarious

at least 7-6. 9-3 or better would be massively exceeding my expectations.

they can start by not having 15 pinned threads, that would help

I agree it was dumb to DM the girl , regardless of who tagged who. Freeze has owned up to that . As far as defending him, you or fans don't have to do anything to defend him. I just don't get the worrying about what other folks think. What can u do about what people say about you? Most of the folks who are doing that have so much crap in their own lives that they feel the need to drag someone else down in order to prop their self up. It's really sad in a way
its not what other people think, its what i think. im glad you think it was dumb to DM the girl. i would assume also you think it was dumb to cheat on his wife, and call prostitutes on his work phone and lie to recruits and their parents about his involvement in the ncaa, and allegedly make that high school girl change shirts in his office.
see, its just a professional life time of doing dumb things. he will be under enormous scrutiny so any little screw up will get magnified way more than anyone else would. i hope that his lack of judgement doesn't continue at Auburn. history suggest that is optimistic thinking.

I would say everyone has a past or did things they aren't proud of. I would raise my hand the highest. I would have no problem with Deions or Kiffin or Danny Hugh's past as far as owning up to their mistakes and trying to learn from them . Danny Hugh did some bad things. He paid for it personally and financially big time. I just don't think he should have to suffer for it the rest of his career. And again, I didn't see you blast Danny Hugh.
ive had a slightly different take why i think freeze is a bad choice and not worth the headache. yes, many folks have a past and done morally questionable things. if that is all freeze had done (cheated on his wife with prostitutes and maybe got them for recruits, that part gets over looked) that would be in the past almost a decade ago. i don't like it but people do make mistakes. ok, fine. but as recently as 5 months ago he is in some girls DMs who is suing his employer. idgaf if he had nothing to do with her case or if he or the guy he was defending weren't even at the school at the time that is minimum a flat out dumb thing to do. there was absolutely no win there and as you can see given detractors a ton to work with.
so you take his history and very recent history and the guy is a text book example of not having good judgement in the past and continuing to not have good judgement. THAT is my #1 problem, followed by the school and the fans having to deal with all criticism to the point of people defending things in his past or at the very least shrugging them off. the guy did some absolutely sleezy stuff that he admits to and there is a pattern of him being an idiot. i don't think its worth all this, but he is the coach and time will tell.

Yes, Gus and Freeze have been friends for years. I think going back to their high school days. Seems like it’s coming from two camps:
1. I didn’t get my guy so I’m upset.
2. I am holier than thou (Christ himself) so I am upset.
This is such an odd take
