Not buying it. This feels like last second noise. Especially after the reports on both Auburn and Ole Miss pay sites that Kiffin signed yesterday and is planning to announce tomorrow.  My money is still on Kiffin. He has nothing to gain at Ole Miss, and has peaked that program.

i agree, but i think its not kiffin either. someone else. don't ask me who, but i think its someone else.

Currently in Tuscaloosa , we’re already being called a fanbase who walks all over women, try’s to cover up rapes and the only school desperate enough to give him a chance. My worry is he’s my not a huge name with recruits but recruits mothers will most definitely remember him. Even if we win we’ll be known as cheaters . I have row 9 seat so I’m in for the long haul no matter what ha but this isn’t starting well

    wut?

Trying to look at some positives if this comes to pass:

    1) we would get an extremely motivated, hungry Hugh Freeze ready to rebuild his image in the SEC

    2) probably higher likelihood of retaining staff members. Can't imagine he wants to retain much of the Liberty staff when he will have clearly better options here

    3) financially sound decision. We have all of the leverage on the first deal. Probably the best ROI out there

agree with this. i didn't want freeze, but in the current environment (read jimbo's albatross of a contract) point 3 can't be overstated enough. hopefully Auburn does use that leverage to its advantage.

This is why we are waiting 'til after the Iron Bowl.   Talk about taking the wind out of our sails.   Freeze would be OK ,  but I do not trust him to keep us off probation.

which is saying something considering we now have paying players and basic free agency.

  5. Sabotage may be a foot. This could be a trick to distract a fired up Auburn with nothing to lose headed to t-town when they know saban is about to retire and bama is actually about to hire kiffin.

  6. if i were going to hire Caddy, i would make his base salary low (2-2.5Mill), load him up with money for assistants, then incentivize the hell out of his contract. give him a shot to make 15 Mil if he wins an NC and signs a top recruiting class. i think thats how you drive a young up and coming coach. thought Caddy may not even care about the money at some point (2-3 mil per year).

I won’t ever be in that position but quitting with work still left to do is a bad look and pretty cringe.

If he accepted an offer then just leave. Why stay on and lead everyone else on?

I get the semantics and all but still.

If we hire Kiffin, he’ll do that to us one day. Especially if he’s successful.

yep, and im telling yall, if he comes here and does well and the next coach at bama (when ever that is) stumbles, he is exactly the kind of person who would leave Auburn for Alabama.

im not saying thats a reason not to hire him, just an observation.

Dabo would be a Saban like hire.

Dabo + Caddy would be pretty killer imo. You would lock down two different but similar cultures in one. Both are family oriented with an emphasis on developing talent for the next level.

    Now I want Dabo lmao

dabo's recruiting has messed his roster up. he stopped signing full classes (i think one year he signed 16 players) because he didn't believe in "processing players" and therefore could not keep his lines stocked. by the time he realized it the damage had been done and its not been a quick fix. we could do worse obviously, but i don't know about dabo. plus his personality is terrible.

  9. I hurt for him that they didn't get the win last night. The way the game started it looked pretty disastrous, but they went to the half MADE ADJUSTMENTS (who ever heard such a thing) and came out and just about won the game.

I love Auburn, I love Caddy, and I love be how much he loves Auburn. Losing sucks but I'm so happy he got this opportunity and I also hope he gets to continue to grow with Auburn, whoever the next coach is.

Not sure if Harsin should be a reference point for a future coach's performance.

im not saying that. im saying we are where we are with harsin. the chance its going to get worse with prime is incredibly small but the chance he could be outstanding is much high. even if he is as bad as harsin was (which would very difficult) Auburn isn't any worse off in the grand scheme. Auburn is a going concern so to speak, its not going anywhere. if we make 10 bad hires in a row, there will still be an 11th hire to try and make up for it.

don't let the fear of striking out keep you from swinging.

He’s my pick. High risk/reward, but I think it could work out. All depends on the higher ups if it could work.

see, i see prime as low risk, especially compared to what we just had. there is not ceiling and honestly could he really do worse than harsin?
