@aubiefifty thanks so much for posting this!!!!   I wish each of you could meet and know Ryan's mom.   That sweet lady bleeds O&B and loves CBT.   War Eagle always Ryan Bliss.

  2. In the 80's we had a wide out from Georgia, Trey Gainous, who also played baseball.  Bo nicknamed Trey "loadee" because Trey had an extra large load for a rear end.  Maybe 30-40 people know about this nickname, but if you could have heard Bo say "loadee" in 85 when he still had a pronounced stutter -- it would make you smile....

Wouldn't it be nice if one of these teams was Auburn.

It sure would be.  If Gonzo were the same guy in 24 that he was in 22, we likely would be there.   We invested lots of our limited NIL $$$ in Gonzo in both 23 and 24, and they turned out to be bad bets.   Because of scholarship limits and OTV not sharing much $$$ with baseball, baseball's margin of error was very small. Unfortunately, we exceeded that MOE in 24.

If Texas makes a move with Pierce, along with the recent Kingston dismissal at USC, the dominoes could fall in a way that we might not like.  Not many coaches out there that have been to 2 CWS and not being adequately taken care of.  BT might be the only one.....

POD, with all things being nearly equal, I don't ever see Butch passing on us for a potentially prettier girl.   Cohen tried to hire him twice while he was AD at State, and Butch politely told him to pound sand.   Butch loves Auburn.  And, his girls are there and one has had her baby there.   With that said, it is no different than telling your wife you love her and making sure she knows you mean it -- we need to make sure he knows we all love him despite our 2024 record!!!

And for all those calling for his removal, there are currently 4 teams and another playing today for a chance to make the College World Series.   That would be 5 out of the Eight.   Unheard of and just puts things in perspective on the just the competition in the SEC.

And all 5 of them have very advantageous additional scholarships that AU and UA do not enjoy.   The field is not level....    Thanks aubaseball for your comments.

The one thing that stood out to me this past season: he has to be an exceptional leader. Just from watching the games and the team/players/dugout, the players never quit, competed their rear ends off every inning, and there was no finger pointing or selfishness you sometimes see when a team is underperforming.  It’s obvious that he’s developing men to a higher calling than just baseball.  He’s the kind of man you hope your son plays for.

    So well said!!!

It is hard to have faith in much surrounding college sports these days, but I have complete respect for and faith in Butch and his leadership.  Men like him aren't easy to find and we are fortunate to have him guiding the program and the young men that he pours so much of himself into.

You have obviously spent some time around BT.   He is a great guy who loves Auburn.  If we can ever get him on a level playing field, look out SEC!!!!

    I 100% agree.

AU9377,  Can't thank you enough for giving $$$$$ to baseball.  Butch has some real reservations about the current state of affairs.  He is conflicted about keeping up with the Joneses while not creating an entitled team.  It is a real conundrum.  I thank everyone who loves Auburn baseball.

Just like @autan said we are slowly climbing currently back in 5th just like we started. I think we may move up to 4th if Ohio St. keeps falling they still have about 12 holes to play. This is one hard course would love to see it on TV so I could tell what's the story on why so hard.

Golf I've read several players say you have to be really good with the driver.   Others talked about how firm the greens are.   Others talked about tough pin placements.   Some call it a second shot course.  One thing is clear, it is a tough track.

i am pretty sure there were a lot of injuries this year. it messed things up from what i remember. i see so many articles i get stuff confused.

We bet big on Gonzales 2 years in a row, and it turned out to be a bad bet.   We will not make that mistake again.   If he were healthy, he alone could have accounted for 5-7 SEC wins, and it would have taken pressure and innings off the entire pen.  Our best hitter, Ike Irish, suffered a hand injury that really set him back.   Poor Bobby Pierce couldn't stay healthy his entire career.

  11. I had dinner Tuesday with a TUF employee to talk about baseball.   Maybe this is posted on here somewhere, but during the Bama series, Butch became aware that OTV was not giving baseball any of the non-earmarked NIL SSSS.   Before that series, many of us, including Butch, were under the impression that a formula was used to distribute non-earmarked NIL donations and baseball received a % of such funds.   I think it was Saturday that Butch was told that baseball only received baseball only donations, and he went on to get tossed from the game that day.   The upshot is that this has now been rectified.   In 2026, when revenue sharing kicks in, baseball will finally be on a level playing field.    Until then, baseball needs about a half a million in NIL to field a competitive team in 25.  If you can give a little, please do.    And, just in case, earmark your donation for baseball.

I bought a pair to officiate in.  Super light, super comfortable, wore a hole in them in a month and they provided zero stability.

If I recall correctly all of the injuries were to the pitcher's landing foot.   Butch was not happy about the injuries or the shoes.

It all comes down to why Battie and his brother were approaching the guy.

    where they just walking by?

Where they "coming after" the guy to kick his ass?

    somewhere in between?

The guy's lawyer (who probably should not be saying anything until he has reviewed all the evidence) is claiming that the Batties fired the first shots.

  14. I read an article about Friday's hearing.   Witnesses testified that it is expected Brian might be paralyzed for the rest of his life.   The good news there is it sounds like he will survive.   As long as the young man is alive, he has a chance of getting getter.   The shooter was 28 with four prior felony convictions.   So how much time did he spend in prison?   He also currently has a pending charge of sex assault on a minor.

He claims self defense, despite video that the police say shows him pulling his gun first and him firing first.   Also, if the Batties both fired first, they only managed a graze wound to his ear, yet he managed to land two critical shots?   He then fled the scene and instead of calling the cops and reporting that two people just tried to kill him, he attempted to disable his phone.   Everyone, even this guy, enjoys the benefit of the presumption of innocence.   Common sense sure makes you think he is guilty.
