Who cares? We have to worry about Auburn. We had the 7th ranked class.

I didn’t demand anyone read my post and respond to it. It’s a message board, this topic is about Saban retiring, and I made a post about what I had heard.

  2. I’m seeing Lanning’s name mentioned. I hope that’s not true, but as meticulous as Saban is, it wouldn’t surprise me if the coach to replace him has already been decided. I got this from a friend of mine who is a huge bama fan. I hope it’s not true:

My son told me his coach who has connections down there, told him before it was announced.  He says Ms Terry has been diagnosed with dementia.  That’s why. She only has a few really quality years left.  Now I’m not sure that’s true but that’s what his coach told him.

Don’t see how that slows movement.

Well, if a school has to buy out an NIL contract and offer a new NIL contract, that could be millions of dollars. They may consider it worth it for the highest profile athletes, but they can’t do that for all of them. If other schools aren’t dangling carrots then players might not be so quick to leave.

NILs could also be structured to have a multi year incentive or forfeiture of a percentage of money if the athlete leaves after one or two years.

It's either that or the whole thing dies a slow, ugly death.

I agree 100%. There have got to be some guardrails put into place ASAP or this thing will spiral out of control quickly (if it hasn’t already). Maybe have a multi year deal in place like @GoAU suggested with an NIL buyout to whatever school they go to?

Nah, I'm definitely not a Bammer. The way you spelled that is seriously about how that fanbase and their players spell though. I give them a pass though. It's gotta be damn near impossible to type or write when every finger is being weighed down with national championship and SEC championship rings. And that's just since 1992.

Bless him. He just can’t stay in character long enough to finish a post.

So who will admit to helping to give him 31 post count likes? 👀👀

There has been several posters mum about last season citing it as a throw away season. I can second that , so I have no clue what you been reading. Most not frequent the post game threads then.

Same here and I’ve talked about it in several posts. @NCAubs The post thread titled “Once again Freeze says he had team unprepared” is one to look at for this type of discussion.

In Feb 1997 I was a 16 yr old sophomore at Gadsden High School. A buddy of mine and I decided to “go out for football” for spring practice as linebackers. I’d never played a snap of actual football in my life. During a scrimmage, the DC/asst coach Charles Nails was lighting into us for the defense’s arm tackling attempts, yelling “You think you’re gonna tackle Derrick Nix at Etowah with that sh**!”

Gadsden High and Etowah High (the alma mater of Cadillac, Pat Nix, Freddy Kitchens, Derrick Nix, et al) were local 5A rivals.

Now Freddy is a former NFL HC (honk if you saw that coming), Carnell is the Caddy-lack, Pat Nox is Bo’s Diddy and a HS coaching legend in the making, and AU is courting Derrick Nix as OC. Good times.

We played Etowah my senior year. Patrick Nix was the quarterback, Toderick Malone was a receiver, and the running back/linebacker was Tyrone Nix. We took the ball to start the game and scored on the opening drive. It was all downhill from there. 😂

It is being reported in a multitude of places. 24/7, ESPN, and SI so I assume it is official. I haven't seen anything from Auburn yet though.

I’ve seen the other reports of him being hired, but that’s the official part I was refferring to, an announcement from Auburn.
