Like the list, but did you subtract Newton and Fairley twice? You had us at 63 scholarships, then minus those two would be 61, and a full recruiting class would put us at 86...

Also, I don't think Frazier is the backup next year because I think he'll redshirt and compete with Trotter in 2012 as a freshman.

No included at 61 are Dismukes, Rose, Frost, and O'Reilly. 61+21=82 scholarship players.

I honestly believe at the end of the day that Newton will leave and yes Frazier will play a lot next season.

Won't T. Reed be a RS Fr.

And if we sign Roberson do we expect him to redshirt?

Fixed the Reed Typo. And Roberson will not redshirt. He will play early and often for the Tigers.

Ah, gotcha. I was trying to figure out where you were coming up with those numbers..lol.

I agree that Newton will likely leave, but I really don't expect to see Frazier next year. I just don't know why you would waste a year of his eligibility when Trotter has a similar skill set and three years under his belt at this level, plus Clint Moseley to back him up. Now, if something were to happen and Trotter went down, I could see it, and that possibility might be enough to convince the coaches that they need to get Kiehl reps, even at the expense of a year of eligibility, I don't know, but I'm a little old school in thinking quarterbacks especially need a year to get used to the speed of college. If anyone can do it, Kiehl can, because not only is he a phenomenal athlete (and don't mistake that as saying he's more athlete than quarterback, because the kid seems to have his head screwed on straight), but he's also been in virtually the same system we run since he was JV.

But again, when we already have a guy in place to take the reins, I don't know that we'd waste a year of having Kiehl at the helm.

I watched the one game on TV where Kiehl's team played what looked like a semi-pro team from Texas, and I was really, really impressed with the way Kiehl handled himself in that game. He clearly belongs on any field of competition, and is willing and able to put a team on his shoulders.

if cam leaves, i think trotter will be our QB. he has a strong arm and can run, i think hes underrated by the AU fans. i saw him play in high school, hes a freak. as long as he can stay healthy

Based on success that QBs have had after playing their freshman year - Colt McCoy, Sam Bradford, Matthew Stafford - this year Murray at UGA - I could see the coaches using him as a freshman. Frazier's a superior talent. The sooner he gets in real games and makes dumb mistakes the better.

I have no idea, of course. But, I wonder if the old school (As someone said) method of bringing them along slowly is still the best practice.

Unlike some of those other university's I don't think we need to start a freshman QB. If Cam leaves I believe Trotter will be our starter, Mosley will be our back-up. JMHO

Remember what happened last time we put a stud QB from Arkansas in games as a true freshman? He's playing receiver now.

Yeah, there are instances in which a true freshman is enough better than everyone else there that you test him by fire, but I just don't see that being the case here. Trotter is a quality QB (I put him on par with all but maybe two SEC QBs), and he can make plays happen, too.

Oh, and that game someone mentioned between Shiloh and I think it's Trinity High School (the "semi-pro team", which isn't far off) was absolutely a testament to how good Frazier is. They put up 26 against a defense that, playing against Texas 5A competition, gave up a total of 67 points in their other 9 regular season games.

Let's ask Stan White his opinion!! (For the younger guys, he started as a freshman).  IMO, for what it's worth, I see Keihl red-shirting if and when it's proven Trotter and/or Moseley can handle the team.  It's not a decision that has to be made early.  If it is made pre-season, the shirt can always be pulled.

Bradford and McCoy redshirted also. Stafford was the only QB he listed to start as a true freshman

Oh I think there will still be a competition, but I think Trotter has already proven to the coaches that he has the tools to win in the SEC.

Trotter will certainly get the first nod next year... Frazier is a special talent and he will eventually have a GREAT career at Auburn... but Trotter could really make Auburn a very balanced football team.

Not taking anything away from Cams passing abilities... but hes a freak... why would you not utilize his running abilities?

Trotter can help Auburn win football games, and the guy is not a bad ATHLETE.

He will have a throw first mentality, but has the ability to run if things break down. He will run by choice, most likely not by design... except maybe a couple of times.

Cam will be back. Trotter backup. Freshman will redshirt. All experts say Cam needs another year, plus NFL labor relations problems. Don't let the bammer media push y'all into believing every good junior we have has to go pro. Let Julio and Ingram and the bammers go pro. Our guys need to show loyalty to Auburn.

There is about a 0% chance Cam comes back next year, regardless of what the bammer media says. I have eyes and a working brain to think for myself...

I don't think it's 0%, but close.  And, as the weeks wear on and Camgate dims in the background, that percentage increases.  When he and his family step back, realize how close they might have come to a bad outcome, and think about the long term future, the decision might be to stay and refine his skills for one more year under the tutulage of the master.

To be honest, a good way to show everyone he and his family aren't overly concerned with the money would be to come back.  And maybe he would actually be able to enjoy the season next year.

Of course, this is all assuming this situation has been totally cleared up by then.

Whether the story would've come out or not, he was still a one and done player. He will be drafted EXTREMELY high, he will definitely be paid like it especially being a QB and his OL is leaving, which is one of the reasons he came to AU in the first place. I'll take pops advice and change my opinion to 0.0000001% he's one and done.

Listen, guys.  Cam's pro stock soared when Michael Vick had that incredible Monday night game (that's when Kiper moved him to #15 on the board), but now with the so-called Cam twin ( Vince Young), the scouts are taking a second look.  Seems they have knee-jerk reactions like we all do.  The thing I do not want to see happen is that the Newtons get some bad advice from the NFL agents and other gurus, and declare, then sit until the 2nd or 4rd round.  It's happened too many times, and remember, declaration is not a reverse decision.  After the past three weeks, I do not believe the Newton family is going to be prone to any knee-jerk reactions.  I can tell you one thing:  the Tennessee Titans won't touch Cam with an early pick after this week!!

No one knows what Cam is gonna do but Cam and his family if he even knows at this point. There is still a lot of important football left to be played and i'm gonna sit back and hopefully enjoy every minute of it. Its a season to remember so cherish it while its before you.
