But they have to travel to Washington (12 seed overall).  The Lady Tigers will play BYU in the first round on Friday.  Congrats to Coach Deese and the girls.  WIN!!!!  WAR EAGLE!!!!

It just sucks that we easily played well enough host but the fact that Florida, bama, Georgia, and Tennessee all host pushed us out of that spot.

The last published RPI had us at 29 and even with the win over Florida and playing Tenn in the SECT wasn't going to move us up high enough into the top 16.  Then, with the other schools you mentioned hosting, there simply wasn't enough teams in the region that could travel by bus to Auburn to give us a bid.

Outside of the travel, this is really a pretty good draw for us.  BYU had an RPI in the 40's and Washington was the 6th place team in the PAC 10 and are 5-10 in their last 15.  In our last 10, we are 7-3 with 2 wins over then #4 Georgia, 2 wins over then #18 Kentucky and a win over #3 Florida.  We are definitely hot coming into the regionals and if we can get by BYU, Washington has a good offense, but not as good as Florida, Tennessee or Georgia and they rely on a freshman pitcher that may have hit the wall at the end of the season in the PAC 10.  There are many who follow softball regularly that are calling Auburn the upset pick of these regionals.

They open play in Seattle on Thursday (have to play Thursday, Friday, Saturday because BYU does not play on Sunday) agains BYU at 5:30 central.

Oh well.  It was a good season.  Defense falls apart with 5 errors leading to 3 unearned runs.  The Lady Tigers lose for the second time to a good BYU team, 4-3.  Sorry it is over for the girls but congrats on a good season.  They are graduating 4 seniors, all starters.  There will be holes to fill but we have a good class coming in.

Good luck to the seniors.  WAR EAGLE LADIES!!
