around4ever 4,139
Anybody with access to past betting lines who wants to do a little research, I have a project. I would like to see how many games we actually beat the betting line this season in basketball. I know the accusations include only two games. I can't believe that there was enough money bet on Auburn basketball games to even justify point shaving. But anyway, I would be curious how may times we beat the spread. Thanks. Velvet Beavis 15
There have been some posts in different threads on here about there being several bammers in the SEC offices. Maybe Mitchell was suspended and bama notified the SEC and the bammers in the SEC office kept quiet. But when AU reported Ward, one of those bammers decided he just had to leak it and try to hurt AU. That's possible. Maybe they leaked it because we notified the FBI and made the SEC office look bad for not doing so itself? Interesting name Velvet Beavis. It got me to wondering: Is there a Silk Butthead out there somewhere? Just a quirky play on the Velvet Elvis theme. I have an odd sense of humor. I posted this link in another thread. The betting data from Auburn's season also doesn't seem to offer evidence of game-fixing. The Tigers failed to cover the spread only four times in 16 SEC games, according to Covers.com. There were no dramatic line changes in the two games cited by the Yahoo! report. Line changes often occur when a large sum of money is wagered on either side, which is what might be expected if point shaving has taken place. http://www.al.com/sports/index.ssf/2012/03/fbi_questioning_suspended_aubu.html
AU64 10,122
I just can't help feeling that this is going to be a "local" thing...something within the state and not what we think of when someone says "point shaving". So maybe he was paying for all those tats or something like that?
