“CREDIBILITY”

CLAIM: “Credibility comes when you say something is going to happen and then it does happen…You are not credible if you issue resolutions and then nothing happens.” [source: President Bush, 10/28/03]

FACT: Bush said about his first tax cut that “Tax relief will create new jobs” and the economy proceeded to shed almost 3 million jobs. He said about his second tax cut that “tax relief means new jobs for Americans” and the economy continued to shed jobs. He said about the war in Iraq in May that “major combat operations have ended” and yet more troops have died since that statement than during the war. [source: President Bush, 4/16/01, 9/5/03 and 5/1/03]

Good thing he's not Pinnochio. Come on November, 2004!

Yeah, nice try... you guys are getting SO desperate...

Please note the part I highlighted - and WHICH party controls the unions?????? And WHICH party STILL maintains control of California, governor recall notwithstanding? Hmm, let's think about that one...

Jobless Claims Fall

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The total number of Americans filing initial jobless claims fell by 5,000 last week from a revised 391,000 the previous week, the government said on Thursday, in a sign of a convalescing U.S. job market.

First-time claims for state unemployment insurance benefits fell to 386,000 in the week ended Oct. 25, the Labor Department (news - web sites) said. Claims would have been lower by between 5,000 and 10,000 if not for labor disputes in the grocery store and transportation industries in California and other states, a Labor economist said.

The new claims figure was close to expectations of analysts polled by Reuters, who were expecting 385,000. The closely watched four-week moving average fell to its lowest level in eight months.
