Sec of Homeland Security clashing with WH

This could get interesting in a hurry. If a respected leader such as Kelly or Mattis resign in disgust, Trump will be in meltdown mode.

"Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly “has clashed with the White House over staffing and other decisions in recent days, people familiar with the matter said, leaving the agency without a second-in-command as it tried to institute a new travel ban during a chaotic weekend at the nation’s airports,” the Wall Street Journal reports....

“Mr. Kelly hasn’t been able to name the deputy he wants at the agency, people familiar with the matter said, and he fought off attempts by the White House to put Kris Kobach, the Kansas secretary of state known as a hard-liner on immigration, into the position.”"

It's like watching a train wreck unfold. It's horrendous but you find you simply can't look away.

Smacks of the Nixon White House.  Policy was not driven by agencies or appointees.  Policy was formed within the inner circle of advisers.

Everyone is an enemy.  Absolute loyalty is demanded.  It is, and will be, interesting to watch the parallels unfold.

Frankly, it's in the best interests of the country.

Sounds quite familiar to how Trump's predecessor ran his shop. He even went as far investigating journalist who weren't "with the program" enough to their satisfaction. Its quite clear with the way Generals were retired early and how the CIA was editing information so briefings would reflect a more positive tone that an inner circle was firmly in control of the talking points thus, policy.

The thing about diversity of thought - it doesn't exist with democrats but it does it does elsewhere. Consequently, things appear to be messy at times but, guess what...that's by design and is not a bad thing.

James Rosen of FOX News had his phone and his parents phone tapped. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2013/05/23/correspondents-association-concerned-government-too-aggressive-in-tracking.html AN AP reporter was also scrutinized by that admin.

James Risen another reporter was also a target of the Obama administration. Heres a link for you: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/18/reporters-privilege-obama-war-leaks-new

Before a panel of the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals, a Department of Justice lawyer argued that New York Times reporter James Risen should be forced to testify in the trial of former CIA agent Jeffrey Sterling, who is charged with leaking classified information to Risen about a botched plot against the Iranian government.

Rather than arguing the specifics of the case, DOJ appellate lawyer Robert A. Parker asserted that there is no reporter’s privilege when a journalist receives an illegal leak of national security secrets."

As far as the generals go..here...http://conservativetribune.com/obama-firing-generals-why/

Long-standing tradition dictates that current and former military officers refrain from criticizing their civilian leadership, but the issues facing our military these days have become too much for many of them to continue to suffer silently under, and many have begun to speak out about what President Obama has done to the military......

“They are purging everyone, and if you want to keep your job, just keep your mouth shut,” said a source that wished to remain anonymous

As far as changing talking points, I thought everyone was aware of that but here:

http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/politics/2013/05/exclusive-benghazi-talking-points-underwent-12-revisions-scrubbed-of-terror-references/

"When it became clear last fall that the CIA's now discredited Benghazi talking points were flawed, the White House said repeatedly the documents were put together almost entirely by the intelligence community, but White House documents reviewed by Congress suggest a different story."

All of this stuff has been covered A LOT and is all over the internet for inquiring minds but some continue to act willfully obtuse or are experiencing convenient amnesia and act like Trump is the reincarnation of Nixon or "literally" Hitler but never seemed to mind the previous guy's heavy handed Chicago style tactics.

Your specifics do not match your generalizations.

"investigating journalist who weren't "with the program""   You reference one incident that involves CIA espionage.  Hardly a pattern of attacking the press.

" Its quite clear with the way Generals were retired early"   Yes, it is quite clear that what you cite, is politically driven and factually void.  Just look at the statement: “They are purging everyone, and if you want to keep your job, just keep your mouth shut,” said a source that wished to remain anonymous

Obviously hyperbole and rhetoric.  Everyone?  Purge? Anonymous?  Here is some reality:

https://skeptoid.com/blog/2014/03/24/president-obama-purge-military/  Please take note of how specific the information is and, that it involves no political narrative.

" the CIA was editing information so briefings would reflect a more positive tone"   What you cite, says that it was not the CIA amending the intel.  It was the administration.  Clearly the Obama people wanted to put the best spin possible on the situation with an election in progress.  However, you have failed to cite anything that shows a pattern of the CIA being coerced or compromised for political purposes.

The "Obama did it too" narrative doesn't hold up.

This is the most divisive president since Lincoln.

It's become a real issue between me and my family.

The sooner we get this administration behind us, the better.  And if the aforementioned officials bail, it had better be as soon as possible.

Just want to point out that this line of comments while common in what is now the "smack" forum, are not consistent with substance/tone expected in this one. This back and forth tends to often deteriorate. Thanks.
