Great win! Smothering defense from AU and Haddock’s second goal was something else.

Both were.

History Made: Auburn soccer meets its longest win streak ever

https://www.theplainsman.com/article/2021/09/history-made-auburn-soccer-meets-its-longest-win-streak-ever

[...]

Written in that book will be that Auburn soccer 2021-22 is on a 10-0-0-win streak dating back to last season, the longest such streak in program history. Auburn is now a perfect 5-0-0 on the season. Previously, seven Auburn teams had started 4-0-0 or better.

Auburn secured this record by taking down a tough UT Chattanooga 3-0. The game featured unstoppable defense and a lot of pressure from the Tigers.

As if program history isn’t enough, with Sunday’s win, the Tigers also claim the longest active win streak in D1 soccer. Combined with the highest national rank in program history and a win against a Top-15 ranked opponent for the first time in four years, Auburn soccer is making incredible strides this season.

[...]

The Tigers will go on to host Alabama A&M at home on Thursday, Sept. 9 before hosting No. 1 ranked and defending national champion FSU at home on Sunday, Sept. 12.

Halftime, 2-0 FSU. Second goal was world class but we need to be more physical w/ their forwards - Krikorian recruits strong players and has natl team starters from many countries sitting on the bench. We're as athletic as FSU and Karen has a good game plan, a comeback is possible.

2-1 FSU win. I hope we meet them in the playoffs, but for a 30 second nap we played them toe to toe. Quality soccer game IMO, better than most intl FIFA matchups.

Something to build on...but don't let this be the 'high water mark' of the season...regroup and come out ready...let us score a goal in the first minute the next time..

We lose a tough one in Knoxville tonight, 2-1 in double overtime. Arias scores our lone goal in the 69th minute. Tennessee ties it up with an incredible shot with 4 minutes left in regulation and wins it 11 seconds into the second overtime. Coach Hoppa said at halftime they seemed to panic in the first half. That was very clear in the second as well from about 10 minutes left in the game. For me, losing to Tennessee in anything is my equivalent to Alabama beating us in anything for many others. We still have a good thing going in soccer and are back home Sunday to play aTm. I think we are still on course to host a first round game in November.

Auburn in a battle with USCe. Losing 0-2 at half, SC scores quick in 2nd half to go up 0-3. Auburn finally responds with a gorgeous set piece.  Deep high kick into the corner of box.  Header to the middle in front for another header onto the goal.  1-3. Auburn showing intense energy now.  Almost scored another.  Exciting finish coming.

Every set piece for USC is dangerous it seems. They are getting the ball in the air close to the net.

Set piece for Auburn.  Just outside box.  Cleared out

That quick 2nd half goal hurt us because it would be a different game with only 1 goal lead.

Haddock and Melancon trying to push it up.  Just missing the creases.  Haddock has been close but can't get face up with the goal in the center.
