Guest Tigrinum Major
JHS recognized by Rivals as one of the top homefield advantages in the country. 10. Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn)Starting out as a 7,500-seat venue, Jordan-Hare Stadium has come a long way since its opening in 1939. There's no question that definitive home field advantages played a large part in Auburn's perfect 2004 season. And those who attended the game against Georgia last November will swear that the atmosphere was undoubtedly one of the best in the history of Jordan-Hare Stadium. Besides the impressive noise and intensity level inside Jordan-Hare Staduim on gamedays, the Tigers are just downright hard to beat at home, too. Auburn boasts a .798 winning percentage at home over the last 65 years. The X-factor: City-sized crowd Just how huge is the support for Auburn football? Consider this: On Saturdays during the fall in Auburn, Jordan-Hare stadium becomes Alabama's fifth-largest city. bammanmr 0
I find it hard to believe that we rank behind any of those other stadiums. I've been to some and they're just not that impressive.
DKW 86 7,431
1. Lane Stadium (Virginia Tech) Capacity: 66,233 On TV this is not an impressive stadium. Been thru Blacksburg. It looked a lot like Starkvegas. 2. Tiger Stadium (LSU) Capacity: 91,209 Loud AND very obnoxious. I love football. I love my Tigers. But there is no way in hell I would take my wife or daughter there. I would recommend having bail money just a phone call away too. The ugliness there can get to you some times. I have relatives that have had rental cars with every piece of glass completely broken out after an game. I was pelted with urine after one game there myself, back when they had dorms in the stadium. At points loudest of any team, just not consistently so. 3. Ohio Stadium (Ohio State) Capacity: 102,329 Nice tradition and fan base. With 55k+ on campus, I am sure they sell out regularly. 4. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium (Florida) Capacity: 88,548 Very loud and very consistent. Fun folks too. Lite beer commercial during a NM State game one time. 1/2 of crowd was "Less Filling," other 1/2 was "Tastes Great" Mr Two Bits was/is 's Shorty Price 5. Beaver Stadium (Penn State). Capacity: 107,282 At PSU games I have been to, they do inappropriate cheers at times. Was at a game, 1976? Sugar Bowl, where they did "Here we go Lions" all thru the invocation. 6. Autzen Stadium (Oregon) Capacity: 54,000 Pathetic 10, size, ugliest uniforms in the nation, who cares... 7. Kyle Field (Texas A&M) Capacity: 82,600 How did Fran, who hated TSDTR, get to be coach at TSDTR in Texas? Would love to go to an Aggies game just as a fan. 8. Camp Randall Stadium (Wisconsin) Capacity:82,368 of the Big-11 9. Doak Campbell Stadium (Florida State) Capacity: 82,300 Heard it was almost all metal grid structure at one time. We will be back there sometime soon I feel. 10. Jordan-Hare Stadium (Auburn) Capacity: 87,451 Home, I wish we were a just a little more consistently loud but IMHO, we are the 2nd most consistently loud stadium in the Only is better. And where are and ?
sportwareagle 0
I don't see how we could be ranked below some of those stadiums except that we don't sell out the cupcake games and like DKW said, we aren't always consistenly loud. Maybe this year we can change that!! WAR DAMN EAGLE!!!
quietfan 233
JHS recognized by Rivals as one of the top homefield advantages in the country.... the Tigers are just downright hard to beat at home, too. Auburn boasts a .798 winning percentage at home over the last 65 years. Can anyone lay their hands on a link to home W-L records of other big time programs? I ask because I vaguely remember reading a few years back that despite its "Death Valley" nickname, LSU's home field advantage wasn't all that impressive, that their overall home W-L record was behind many others. Of course, I think this was either pre-Saban or very early in the Saban era. I imagine Nick's tenure improved the overall LSU record quite a bit. [or perhaps I just dreamed it, not read it] Also, can we include our perfect record in Jordan-Hare West in our stats since we own that stadium too? Seriously, I wonder how Bama's overall record in Bryant-Denny looks since for many years they played their important games in Birmingham. Their overall B-D record might be very good, since for most of the Tide's football history they only played patsies in Tuscaloosa.
AUesquire 1
I've been to several FSU games at Doak Campbell recently, two of which were FSU/Miami games. They have really done a good job with this stadium and it's a nice place to attend a game, but .....intimidating???? You've got to be kidding me. I've been to louder high school games. They have one tradition I actually like though. In pre-game, the band comes on the field, faces the opposing teams section and plays that teams fight song. Pretty cool. subterranean_jack 112
I don't see how any PAC-10 stadium could be on this list. The Auburn fans nearly outnumbered the Trojan fans in L.A., and the Auburn fans were certainly louder. I've attended other PAC-10 games, and the crowd is generally more interested in the concession stands and chatting than the play on the field. I think the Mountain West conference has better atmosphere because of their fans than the PAC-10, even though the stadiums are a little smaller. I visited Stanford's stadium a couple years ago... what a piece of crap... it was practically falling down... wooden benches in the stands.... maybe seats 25 thousand... the PAC-10 hardly knows what football is, with the exception of maybe USC.. AUslug 1
I also noticed that Neyland was missing, that place can be very loud i.e. Florida in 98. I've watch several games when UGA was at home and I haven't been overly impressed with Sanford Stadium, it just doesn't seem loud even thought it is a nice looking place. The loudest I have ever heard Jordan-Hare was when Carnell broke it for 80 yards against Bama...wow.

SLAG-91 1,483
I don't remember FSU's band playing our fight song before the game there in '89, but they sure as hell played it afterward...along with Rocky Top. That, more than anything else, is why our band serenaded the FSU players with their "Tomahawk Chop" after we beat them in '90. There wasn't anything benevolent about it. Oh, and Doak Campbell was a glorified erector set back in the '80s...the facility looks much nicer now on TV.

aulax1 0
Going to Tiger Stadium a few years ago was definatley an experience all in it self. Since it was a night game, and they were playing Auburn, I think the majority of the fans had a little to much happy juice before the game. I had several fans standing next to the fance the sperates the stands and the field that found it necessary to taunt me al during our warmups on the field. If anybody has a chance to see a game at Beaver Stadium, I suggest you do it. It was one of the best times I have had sitting in the stands. I haven't been there since the expansion, but I am anxious to go back again sometime soon.
