StatTiger 3,188
Here is a seven game comparison of the 2004 and 2005 Auburn teams. Keep in mind, the 2004 squad competed against a .513 strength of schedule during the first seven games and the 2005 team has competed against .462. The biggest difference in strength of schedule would be Tennessee in 2004 compared to Georgia Tech in 2005. Raven_tiger 5
Stat, do you gamble? I don't mean it to be an offensive question, Just curious about all the statistics. I mean the average fan doesn't know AU's winning % when the game is played under the following conditions: 1st Saturday following a harvest moon, @ night, < 50% humidity, temp 75-80F, against a coach with a grandmother named Eunice... Just curious. If you say something about increasing our "bankrolls" with a subscription to "Stat Tiger weekly" I'll have my answer...

I did pick us to win, 24-20 so an overtime TD would have really made me look smart...

WarTim 3,457
Thanks Stat, as per your usual, for the great info. I am very proud of this AU TEAM. Many goals still lie ahead of them. They have proven that they are not "weak", as some had speculated. I would not be afraid to take this TEAM anywhere to play anyone. We have a program, not a one year hickup like some teams experience. We are capable of beating anyone we play. Time to get ready to beat ole miss. WAR EAGLE! I have always thought you were one of the few here with some common sense. For all your stats, what good are they if you don't win the game?! Stats are meaningless, if you don't win! Let me ask you this: Which would you rather have- last years #1 defense in the country ranking that UAT held for most, if not all the year (with all their gaudy STATS) or our 13-0 record, SEC championship and Sugar Bowl title? Don't say both. Choose one: stats or titles!
WarTim 3,457
Seven, why not go ahead and admit that you are NOT an AU "fan". We all already know. Go ahead and "root" for your REAL "team". It's okay. You would have a ton of company, although they are all mullet wearers, on that bandwagon.
mcgufcm 4,107
i'm actually going to side with 7 on this one. the point is to win the games. i wouldn't care if we had statistically blown last year out of the water; i've seen us play in person every game except arkansas this year. we were a better, more consistent defense last year. we had a more explosive offense last year. and we didn't lose close games. period. i am impressed with some of the numbers and i think they speak volumes for the state of the program and our ability to reload, but the point is to win the games. that's not narrowminded; it's universal. it would be like a colts fan telling a pats fan: we had possibly the best offense in the history of the league last year don't be narrowminded and point to your lombardi award! thanks for the info stat, hopefully we'll put these good numbers to use the rest of the way. i'll be there losing my voice for everyone of them the rest of the year win or lose. war damn eagle!
