Don’t blame ‘both sides.’ The right is driving political violence.

david you need to work on your party a little more. your party had a ton of chances to rise up when this country was divided and what did they do? nothing relevant. it is your right to bash red and blue but your side has been stuck in the mud and not doing anything themselves. it is like you give everyone hell but your party gets a free pass.

I do not support the Reps at all and havent voted for a rep since 2004.

I am making fun of people, adults, that cast away any negativity from their own party and shout, scream, etc to support Team Blue, Or Team Red, no matter how sick the candidates are.

They could do like all cities do and send in the police, national guard, etc. This happens often. It is nothing new. Cities handle this stuff all the time. There was nothing different about this.

Even stating "Mostly Peaceful Violence" is just insane. The rioters were burning businesses, homes, jobs, careers, etc to the ground. They did nothing. Portland burned and burned....

Portland’s grim reality: 100 days of protests, many violent

maybe i am too hard line but here it is in a nutshell. the only chance of stopping the rising violence and crazy wacko bull in the republican party is to support the other party. and the only party that had any kind of chance of stopping that is the dems. and you throw them under the bus. it does not mean you are ok with everything the dems do it means you sacrifice for what is right and the libertarians are not even close to that. have i explained this to where it makes sense? the dems do a lot of stupid crap but they are not promoting violence and hatred like the right has.

i just gave you my thoughts on this. do you realize if the repukes had their red tsunami it would encourage the hate and violence in the red party because it worked.

I agree. My droning on is about messaging that drove 27% of WSW away from us tho. Can we not stop for a minute and figure out why WSW and Latinos are leaving us? I hate the VBNMW! messaging. I want sanity 24-7. I HATE HATE HATE the hyperbole that says that since 50 Reps did or said something bad that ALL Republicans are bad. I dont do stereotypes. I HATE HATE HATE that. I am white male Prog. I do not hate any black folks anywhere. I hate when I am labeled a racist simply because I am white.

I bet 95% of this board is white. Do you think that 95% of the board here is racist? We aint.

We get it David.  Violence it bad.  VERY bad when it affects you personally.

But the idea that Democrats "support" violence is crazy, no matter what mistakes were made, and by whom. Spewing that sort of nonsense doesn't make you look wise or objective, it makes you look stupid and somewhat schizophrenic.

I get it.  You're still butt hurt over how the DNC screwed you're favorite, self-described (Democratic) socialist.  And your right, they did.  But good God man, let it go.   Your only alternative is the GQP.

(But if you really think a Republican mayor would have prevented it, :-\  then vote Republican.  They'd love to have you. You think just like them.)

I dont know that I have ever heard you say that "mistakes were made." They were and that was simply my point. I dont hate Dems. I am beyond tired of them blowing the messaging. Not all Dems support Violence, Not all Republicans Support trump. That was my simple point. To tone down the hyperbole. To talk like adults. To drop the idiotic talking points.

Those that call themselves the Left in America, have turned into the national scolds as Maher has pointed out.. They cancel culture comedians and protest about artists having their own free speech. Someone said something stupid, SHOUT THEM DOWN. DOX THEM. LIE ABOUT THEM. When your friends do that? Oh its perfectly fine. They misspoke or read the cue card wrong. I criticize BOTH.

I quit listening to anything on Fox, Limbaugh, etc in 2005. I realized during the Hastert years that the Republicans stood for nothing. Nothing at all. Guess what? So do most of the people here on this forum. While I dislike Team Red, I can see that their people just want what they see as best, although they may be wrong. Same for the Dems. Obama gave us ACA. He also dropped 27K bombs a year in the ME in an undeclared war. You dont hear me criticize BHO. I cannot say a good word about Bush43. Two never ending wars that yes, we lost. I have never defended trump except on a specific event, like talking to N Korea.

None of that cancels what you did, nor does it excuse it.

You offered up a stupid, illogical, irrational whataboutism in response to the charge Republicans have been promoting political violence.

Your intent was clearly to equivocate the unfortunate violence associated with BLM riots in cities which happen to have a Democratic mayor with the Republicans promoting voter intimidation, references to gun - and other types of violence - against liberals (in some cases by name) - and in Republican political ads and rhetoric.

That's fact.  No amount of crawfishing changes that.

Own it and just shut up.

It's as if Scalise, Paul and Kavanaugh didn't happen. Cancel culture was a Republican initiative? Yeah it's clearly one sided. You guys are a hoot.

Nice (idiotic) diversion.

The question is not whether or not there are crazies on both sides, the question is how much either party is supporting or promoting such violence from those crazies.

As the article I posted in the OP demonstrates - with references - I am not the only one who sees this on the Republican side, as further demonstrated by the following articles:

Guns and Political Violence Play Central Role in MAGA Republican Campaign Ads

At least 104 MAGA Republican ads this cycle display and feature firearms or weapons, blowtorches, and even “Tommy” gun auctions, with many including threats against opponents on both the left and right.
