Softball 2022 Schedule and Season Discussion
all4AU replied to blakem's topic in AU Baseball and Softball Forum
Texas has to play Florida State before us on Friday, and on Saturday, UCLA has to play Texas later that day. It's possible that AU will face both teams' #2 pitchers since they both have bigger opponents on those days. Interesting conversations about AU pitching. Hopefully we will have more save situations this year if the offense is improved so that Penta and Lowe can relieve each other. They are so different (spinny lefty vs flame throwing righty). Corrick is a beast and a true workhorse for USF. She has British heritage and is the ace of the Great Britain national team so she's used to getting the ball almost every game. -

Great field of teams in Clearwater with excellent tv coverage. We draw Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Texas, UCLA, and South Florida. https://www.stpeteclearwatereliteinvite.com/event-schedule/ -
Agreed. Coach J has her work cut out to rebuild this program. 31-29 Ga Southern at half.

AU trails 13-9 at the end of the 1st Quarter.

I like Nessler a lot. Yes, he's complimentary of Saban, but I also have found him to be very complimentary of Auburn.

That was 4/32 for 3rd and LONG. They were higher than 12.5% on 3rd down overall before today. Sheesh! 😂

Great job by the band. People on twitter were upset that the AUMB got more screen time than LSU. You could tell all the AU people could sense it on LSU's final drive. Sounded more like a bowl game as @Sizzlesaid.

In the past, every game from this event has either been on an ESPN channel or streamed on WatchESPN. It would be great to see in person, but tickets are hard to come by. I've also heard of overcrowding at every field (to the point parents can't get close to the field to watch their child). There were also issues with parking, concessions, and restrooms and being able to accommodate the large crowds. Fantastic field of teams, and I'm glad AU is part of it though!

This week is the Wear Navy game. Everyone show up in the right color and get loud. Let’s do this! WDE!
-
Due to the rotating league schedule, we don’t play Bama, LSU, Mizzou, and Ole Miss this year. The SEC is still a gauntlet regardless of who rotates on/off the schedule.

Great win! Smothering defense from AU and Haddock’s second goal was something else.

We have 4 pitchers this year with Emmah Rolfe from Bob Jones coming in fall of 2022. I think we'll be fine as long as no one is injured: Lowe, Penta, Dismukes, Yarbrough -

Here is the schedule. Live streaming is available for all games if you log in with your tv provider. It also looks like the Team USA games will re-air on NBC Sports. The games are at night here since it is day time in Japan. Schedule- 1 reply

Softball headed to Tallahassee Regional
all4AU replied to all4AU's topic in AU Baseball and Softball Forum
My assumption is her schedule will allow her to join team Italy in less than 24 hours because I don’t expect Auburn to make it to the regional final on Sunday. Love AU, but I’m just calling it like I see it. This team isn’t playing smart right now, and we don’t deserve to win. -

I think it’s time to ride Lowe. I think she should get the start Friday and the next game on Saturday whether it’s in the winner’s or loser’s bracket. If we win Friday, it will be good to go all out for the win in the winner’s bracket. But if we lose, this regional is too tough to take the 4 seed for granted. There are no automatic wins in this regional (Kennesaw is an at-large team.... not your roll over 4 seed like an Alabama State). -
Tough regional. UCF beat Florida twice. Kennesaw split with us so we know they are tough. AU plays UCF Friday at 1:00CDT on ESPN2.

This series will come down to Auburn’s offense, IMO. Arkansas was shut down by Liberty’s lefty for 10 innings. Yes, the Hogs are 9-0 in the league, but a winless State team played them very tough for all 3 games in Fayetteville last weekend. -

Correct, but Kennesaw was driving down Friday and Sunday for double headers both days (with Charlotte and AU). Don't know if they would want to drive down twice for a single game both days so look for modifications if there isn't a replacement team. -

Our only hope is if someone else’s opponent has covid, causing them to look for games. They would also have to be willing to travel to Auburn. Maybe AU will still play 2 games vs Kennesaw State at a minimum. -

I don't think you killed the thread either. Dean wants to win, and I don't think relying on these 2 is going to wear them out. As of today, Lowe and Penta have both thrown exactly 41.2 innings. Compare that to Johnson from Troy who has already thrown 69.2 innings before conference play has started. -

If I am understanding correctly, schools can only nominate 1 player for each category (SEC player, pitcher, and freshman of the week). The league can give out co-awards based on those nominations. I'm sure AU nominated Penta instead of Lowe because she did finish with a no-hitter and had 2 complete games (Lowe had a 1-hitter and ten innings pitched). Also, Ashley Rogers from Tennessee won pitcher of the week, even though Kilfoyl (Alabama), Haff (Arkansas), and Penta (AU) had no hitters. There were just crazy-good performances in the league last week, and I'm glad AU and Penta were at least recognized for freshman of the week.
