  1. And that is exactly why there have been noticeable drops each year in the speed of the offense. I would actually be shocked if we don't see a whole new Gus when it comes to first down, this year, since he knows its slowing him down.
  2. No seems to about it. He's flat out admitted that his whole offense hangs on first down success.
  3. Now is where Coach Pearl begins to realize that everything he finds annoying about Auburn's compliance department is worth putting up with as the NCAA hounds see Auburn ranked #1 in basketball recruiting and start warming up their scopes.
  4. I do remember that. I still think he sees Josh Bynes number in his sleep. Still, he was the Heisman winner because "bama was due" not because he deserved it. Gerhart should have won it for because of that game alone.
  5. Interesting how one of the most potent of the groups had the worst record. I don't remember our D being so awful that year. Definitely proof that it's a team sport.
  6. It's actually been his talking point for quite a while now.
  7. At the same time, you have to love how little work Auburn fans have to do to prove just how awful bama fans are. That guy really has no clue how bad his actions make him look.
  8. True, but in Eagle's defense, it did appear as if WDE's distaste for Gus hit it's high point when Craig left. The timing was likely pure coincidence, but I can see why Eagle made the claim.
  9. I don't think the coaches want kids to hold off. I suppose there could be some specific case where they are 100% positive about an impact player, but I think normally they want the kid to come out and make it public. There's a lot of positive that comes from a good prospect announcing in public. Remember, the coaches themselves might let a prospect know their preferences but coaches cannot say anything to the press about a commitment. That has to come from the player. I'm with Mikey... if the coaches ask a kid to hold off, it's only for a couple of days, if there happens to be a strategic time coming up. They aren't going to tell a kid to stay silent for an extended period. I think the main reason a kid stays silent is to keep people off his back, like if he's from an area that is predominantly pro another school.
  10. Yup... because teenage boys who are being fought over by colleges and are going to nationally covered media events just grab whatever shirt is on top of the pile.
  11. We have to stop with the Cam comparisons for the reasons you mentioned. Problem is... the first one to compare Joey to Cam is actually Joey.
  12. Yeah, let's hope Gus didn't 'intentionally' promise things to Dameyune he knew he couldn't fullfill... just to lure him away from FSU. Let's get real for a second... Dameyune was in a great situation at FSU. He left because he was promised it would be a faster track to an OC position at AU. Rhett Lashlee's stock could not be any lower right now (so no other school would dare hire him away), and especially with Gus determining he wouldn't cut him loose, the writing was on the wall regarding Dameyune and his promised promotion... It was best for DC's coaching career to leave. Sounds like a patience issue to me. It was evident that Gus was looking for a new home for Rhett, just based on his public comments about how he would make a great head coach for a school. If Gus told Craig that he was the heir apparent to the OC position, and he wasn't willing to wait until Rhett was able to move on in another way that being fired, then that's on Craig. The outside world would definitely be questioning Gus if he fired the OC who presided over the #1 and #2 ranked offenses in the SEC in 2013-2014 and replaced him with the position coach over the part of the offense with the biggest issues. I would be willing to bet that Gus will continue to try to find a new home for Rhett and that it will likely happen before LSU offers Craig their OC position or another school comes calling.
  13. I'm going to say this right now, if Kirby beats Gus next year AU hired the wrong coach. Don't care if Gus wins 10 games. I would agree with this except for one variable... Chubb. If he plays to his potential, and their O-line doesn't fall apart, a trained monkey might be able to coach Georgia to a winning season.
  14. Let's get this kid, give him and Woody similar numbers, and have fun with the commentators when we run the read option.
  15. If he ends up 6-6 251, he'd be bigger than Cam. NO. WAY. I bet you also want to tell me that if he ends up 6-6, 220 he'd be smaller than Cam. Actually, I would say that if he was 6-6, 249 (A4E was wrong... Cam was officially listed as 250), he'd be smaller than Cam.
  16. No. Some of his family wanting him at Bama has "opened things back up." Hopefully that someone isn't his mother or father? Don't know the who yet. Just look for the one driving a new car or with a cushy new job
  17. I can't speak to everything else, but that was still the case in the 90s when I was at AU. I never locked my door... never had to.
