Honestly, why does it matter? It’s a personal decision. Leave folks alone and let them make their own decisions. Adding your own personal anecdotes to why someone is or isn’t a “real” fan is very tiresome.

I flew out of DFW yesterday and passed a gate where folks were flying to Boy-C. I scanned that crowd long and hard…..

Not gonna lie. This new, lovey @Viper has me super nervous.

I had a terrible hangover the next day. As a bonus, my wife backed into my truck in the driveway on the way to work the next morning. I wasn’t even mad. I just wanted to go back to sleep.

1.) I don’t think it would have changed much. 2.) While I love all of the Auburn teams, that ‘04 team will ALWAYS be my GOAT team. And I mean that because I never for a second doubted them in any game that year. Like CTT said, they were a bowling ball of butcher knives. 3.) If anything, it may have hastened Gus’ imminent departure. If I remember right, he at least feigned change in the latter years. A win there may have made him even more stubborn.

I said that 1000 times about this particular situation. He was sitting in a perfect spot to listen and learn. His ego just couldn’t allow it.

I had a guy get hired into a position of leadership at my work years ago that was totally in over his ski’s. He used a lot bravado, confusion, and turmoil to cover his tracks. It worked for a while until he almost got several of us seriously injured/killed. Dude ended up demoted and shipped off somewhere else. He never escaped his problems.

This cat came in and was one of the most disruptive forces in the history of our program. All he wants to talk about was how he was done wrong. All but a glossing over statement about ‘sure there are things we could have done better….but look at how successful we’ve been elsewhere’ Dude still doesn’t get it.

I thought we already did that the last two years?

I grew up in Mississippi. A lot(not all) have that air about them. Pompous.

That’s true. Everyone is having to adjust to it. I just see it as an opportunity for a team that has been depleted of talent to rebuild the roster much faster.

I would highly suspect (ie hope) that if CHF is sitting where he wants us to be, in just a few years, our usage of the transfer portal will be minimal at that point.

Yes, it’s obviously different. But this idea that something pure has suddenly been sullied is also not true. *edit to add- I realize that all of this discussion is centered around “feelings”, so this discussion is a never ending rabbit hole.

I got news for some of y’all. The bidding for some players’ loyalty/services has been going on for a while. We are just now standing in the window of the sausage making factory for the first time, and a lot of fans feel betrayed. “That’s how the sausage is being made now!? That’s not how it was made back in my day!” We are still gonna get players that want to come and play at Auburn because they love the school. We are gonna get players that come because of NIL, and end of falling in love with Auburn. Shocking, I know.

A much more well worded response than mine was. This is almost exactly how I felt through this whole ordeal.

Things change. Football changed. Players have always been able to transfer, the rules are just different now. I’ll continue to watch and pull for Auburn. Did anyone complain about Cam? I mean, he transferred and was only here one year. I personally think the transfer portal is going to continue to morph and change in the next few years.
