  1. Twill straight gettin it done, son! Loading up on stud linebackers. Burns loading up on stud wide receivers. I have confidence Cadillac is gonna close at least one elite back before it's all over. Rg's track record speaks for itself. I think he closes well again, we definitely need some d tackles. We hit on some safety's last year. We desperately need someone to step up and close about 3 more elite o lineman though. That's a must have this year. Not sure about the QB choices we are going after. The one kid who committed is hopefully underrated and the other kid we are looking at, though high rated, looks like a stiff wind may knock him over. Back to twill though. Very very happy with the quality (both athletically and personally) of kids he is pulling in. And you know hes gonna coach em up too.
  2. Tot did some great things for the Au passing game and offense in general. His downfall was recruiting midget scat backs and linemen that couldnt run block. At least from my recollection.
  3. Walter Payton was the guy that immediately came to mind watching him. The insane balance and ability to bounce off a defender while keeping his feet is what reminded me of Sweetness.
  4. Lol. No offense meant man. I just think Fannin was clearly better. I may not being seeing the whole story though. I guess the good thing is, and the whole point of this original post was, we got skillz this coming year. We can debate forever who was better. But damn, this year could be fun, I'll admit.
  5. Man they are fun to watch. My main point was I'd take Fannin over Kmart. No offense to KMart, I just think Fannin was better.
  6. Do you actually watch the games? Fannin was way waaaaay more well rounded and overall talented than Kmart. Kmart is a scat back with limited potential. I'll grant you Fannings fumbling issues. That's the only thing that kept him from blowing up. I'd still take Fannin as the better pass catcher too.
  7. Nice try there, but no. The comparison was made that KMart was better than Fannin. I disputed that statement. I didnt make that one on one comparison. I responded to it. Now you're trying to say that Fannin and Omac weren't even true running backs as part of argument. not necessary or tolerated here Yes they absolutely 100% were. They were our top 3 ball carriers out of a running back position that year. If you read any of my prior posts, you saw I gave Ronnie and Caddy their props. So maybe read those first before 'btw'ing me.
  8. Indeed we will. I certainly hope this group becomes the best we've had. All seem like great kids and are talented!
  9. But you responded to my post, which had nothing to do with that.
  10. KMart over Fannin....not in a million years for me. Fannin was bigger, stronger, and faster. Just as dynamic but more powerful, just if not better of a pass catcher, and a way better blocker. My original point in my post was to downplay folks seemingly conceding this group was clearly better than 2010. Seems folks are forgetting how talented that group was or downplaying it.
  11. Dyer was a knucklehead, but was super talented. Had over 1000 his first year then I think 1200 or so playing for a crap team in 2011. I think he breaks Bo Jacksons career rushing record had he had his head on straight. And yeah, he had deficiencies, but I didnt say he was the greatest back of all time. I am comparing 2010 to last years guys. Do we have anyone proven to be as good as Dyer right now? Not so sure.
  12. So you think our top 3 from last year are better than those 3? Just curious.
  13. I know I'd put Dyer, Fannin, and McCaleb up with almost any trio we have ever had. I bet the stats skew even more in their favor if we exlude cupcakes or lower tier sec competition. Oh yeah, and in 2010, Cam took away a ton of carries from those guys. The most talented backfield trio I think we've ever had was 2003 when we had Cadillac, Brown, and Brandon Jacobs. Insane to think about.
  14. So you're referring to 'fit' with your JJ comment, a completely different discussion. Mcloofus and I were discussing talent on the offense. Fit is entirely different variable.
  15. Let's go line by line.. - Fannin was a freaking hback, Schwartz is a receiver. Let's compare apples to apples here. - That non three headed monster combined for almost 2,300 rushing yards. Mccaleb didnt need 100 touches, he got over 800 by averaging like 8 yards a carry. You dont need 8 guys carrying the damn ball. 3 or 4 is plenty. Those main 4 you mentioned ( I included Schwartz for you since he gets jet sweeps) only scraped up a little over 1800 combined btw. - Neither Joey nor Bo haven proven anything to this point. I seem to remember this all world sure fire cant miss kid...hmm what was his name...oh yeah Jeremy Johnson. Not saying these guys will be him. But you cant say we have depth there yet when those guys have proven zilch at the college level. Look, theres a lot of potential here. But man, 2010 was loaded.
  16. Maybe at receiver, though we had Darvin Adams (who was good with Chris Todd at QB) and Emory Blake. We had one our best tight ends ever (Lutzy), a three headed monster at running back (Fannin and McCaleb both ran legitimate 4.30 40s) as well as Dyer (you know, BCS Championship Game MVP as a freshman and #1 or #2 rated hs running back on ever recruiting report Dyer). Its a tough argument imo to say we have more offensive talent than that 2010 team.
  17. Man Lawyer Tillman was a beast. Ton of highlight catches in that video.
  18. Not sure if anyone mentioned yet, but before the FBI crap last year, Pearl had EJ Montgomery committed...6' 10" power forward ranked #9 overall in 247. That was a big recruiting loss for us. Had we had him and Wiley available at the same time, we could more effectively change to big ball when needed. Plus another huge defensive presence.
  19. Hell yea. I definitely want to get tickets this year. Pearl may have us there yearly pretty soon, but nothing in this life is assured.
  20. Lol. I know who he is. I'm hoping he pans out quick, but despite the recent success of true freshmen qbs, they are still the exception and not the norm. Familiar with Khalil Tate also. Looks like a truly dynamic runner. I was hoping someone knew of another option I hadn't heard of, but also, nada.
  21. What other transfer dual threat qbs are left at this point? Hell, what other transfer o lineman can we get? Give me something to look forward to. Lol.
  22. Saban kicked Tubbs teeth in for in state prospects in 2008. 2008 was also s really good year in state. Got basically everyone he wanted because he out worked Tubbs. There was some quote I read a while back where Tubbs basically said Saban wasnt going to be able to come in and take over the state quickly. I think Tubs underestimated him to be honest. Which is insane in retrospect.
  23. Dont get me wrong. He was personable and did consistently beat Bama. But they were weak sauce when he was here. He was better than average, but nothing great. Basically 8-4. Just my opinion.
  24. I agree with this. Unless the domination is more about power football and exerting your will on the opposition. Then, I might feel ok. Another thing I feel like folks dont talk about is winning more recruiting battles where the guy is not a juco or we dont have a built in Au advantage. Case in point we got Marlon Davidson due to his brother, got Braiden Smith's attention due to his sister being at Au, and will get Bo Nix due to Pat Nix connection.
