  1. Just looked back through this thread . . . In April 2020, Jenna Lord(e) was committed. Perhaps this was in error, since Lord played at Alabama this season. In September 2020, Jenna Lorde had morphed into Jenna Nelson at the same ranking spot. Jenna Nelson later signed with Penn State. I only mention this because Jenna Lord entered the portal; don't know if she has found a new team yet.
  2. Apologize for the error. I failed to notice the date on the tweet. Have deleted it. She doesn't really look 6 years older, though.
  3. Also note the roster has been updated with incoming players (except Widra). Lisenby changing her number to 11. We'll have a roster of 23 for '23, barring other changes.
  4. I don't think it's mentioned anywhere, but Widra was the 2021 Gatorade POY in Alabama. this gives us three Alabama POY on the roster, with Lowe and Dismukes.
  5. That's at least the third Auburn player to go to Louisville in the past 3-4 years: Chardonnay Harris, Carmyn Greenwood, now Geraghty. Both the others finished up this year. Greenwood hit .400 with an OPS of 1.292, 14 homers. Harris had the 2d most innings pitched (57), with ERA of 5.25 and 6-6 record.
  6. I don't think the fact that Godwin chose to return says anything at all about Blaine or Lisenby.
  7. I have an affinity for Cox and would be disappointed to see her leave. She hit .310 for the year, with 5 homers, but only .245 in-conference. Neither of our left-side infielders were especially good fielders. Cox had a 90% rating and Peralta committed 19 errors to lead the team. I believe Milanowski plays third, not sure about Roberts and Elkins.
  8. Just for clarification: in 32 innings Widra had 31 strikeouts. The #2 Beaubien had 109Ks in 102 innings, and the ace Storako had 300Ks in 200 innings.
  9. Surely a man of your distinction would recall that on 5/26/59, Harvey Haddix of the Pittsburgh Pirates pitched a perfect game for 12 innings, then lost it as a 1-hitter in the 13th. The game was against the Braves in Milwaukee's County Stadium. The Pirates got 12 hits, but never scored. Here is a link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harvey_Haddix's_near-perfect_game
  10. Glad to see us pick up another pitcher. She has some pretty good numbers. In the right class, too.
  11. Haven't seen it mentioned here - aTm has hired Trisha Ford from Arizona State. The Sun Devils went 43-11 and won the PAC-12, I believe. They won their series with UCLA in Tempe, hosted and won their regional, but lost to Northwestern in the SR.
  12. Game has been suspended, per ESPN. In 1967, we lost a World Series game to Stanford when rain came with Stanford leading 4-2, in I think the 7th. It was called a complete game. If my aging memory serves me, we had two on and Capt. Pete McKenzie at bat. I believe they no longer do this at the World Series, and maybe not in the tournament at all.
  13. I envisioned rubber spikes a foot long projecting in all directions.
  14. Sounds more like a wardrobe malfunction than a HBP. Thanks for pointing this out. I only watched OU for the few minutes they were behind, and didn't notice it. Did watch most of OSU-AZ; excellent pitching performances by Bowen for AZ and Maxwell for OSU. I still don't see anyone beating Oklahoma twice.
  15. I agree we need a stronger OOC schedule, and I think we will see that next year. Another thing is, the value of playing in the SEC will go down a bit next year because of the poor showing of the conference in the tournament this year.
  16. No one would bet against Oklahoma without at least 20-1 odds. That said, recall that FSU had only 5 losses entering their regional; and MSU was the 11th place team in the SEC. Pre-Title IX, softball power was concentrated on the West Coast. I'm sure PAC-12 fans see this year as a return to the way it's supposed to be. Did anyone else catch the comment on today's telecast, quoting Tim Walton as saying that Skylar Wallace might be the best player he's ever coached? Remember she transferred from Alabama last year. She was 6 for 10 in the super.
  17. Currently Florida is leading VT 4-0 early in the game. We were an inning away from winning the series over them. Apparently, there is regular season softball, and then there is playoff softball. I have been very surprised at some of the results, such as Texas eliminating Arkansas in Fayetteville. I mean, we beat Texas. The shocker of the tournament, though, has to be Miss. State, #11 in the SEC, eliminating 2 seed Florida State in the latter's regional. Second to that is Stanford's win over Alabama. What all this signifies to me is more parity and less predictability. The transfer portal contributes to that, much like scholarship limits did in football. Like you, I don't want Oklahoma to win. I would say that UCLA and OSU have the best chances of dethroning them, but that would imply that I know something about it. Will be fun to watch. Edit: Florida now leading 11-0 going to top 5.
  18. I took a look at Carmyn Greenwood's stats at Louisville this year, and almost wish I hadn't. I hope they had a couple of acolytes tending her in the clubhouse. She hit .400 with 14 homers and 52 RBIs. OPS 1.279. The next best average was at .309.
  19. Have to agree that the balance shifts to outgoing, if we look at the portal only since the 1-yr wait was abolished. Snow, Wallace, and Dowell probably the highest profiles. I think Handley transferred to Ohio State last year. Dowell started all 54 games at Minnesota, hit .265. I thought Justus Perry transferred there also, but her name is not on the roster. Actually, Wallace left before the new portal rule came into effect, I think; Myers gave her her release.
  20. IDK, Mikey, recalling that Kaylee Carlson was a transfer, that's a lot of weight on that side of the scale. Two that transferred out that hurt were Carlee Wallace and Jenna Olszewski. Haley Fagan, Lexi Handley, and Kaylee Horton were all incoming transfers. Carmyn Greenwood and Chardonnay Harris both went to Louisville; both could have been quite useful in Auburn. I don't have the whole list in my head, but Carlson and Fagan tilt the scales heavily in the plus direction.
  21. Thanks for opening the topic. To collect the bits from the other thread: Jo Evans has been dismissed as HC at aTm. This is a very attractive job. The have the recently built Davis Diamond facility, along with lots of deep-pockets alumni. Further, they probably have more softball tradition than any SEC school, with a program going back to the 80s at least. Filling this slot will undoubtedly start the dominoes falling. At Alabama, Abby Doerr and Jenna Lord have entered the portal. Doerr is from Oregon and may be looking for a PAC-12 school, but Lord, a freshman, is from Trussville. I read that she was one of their better clutch hitters this year, and there is a general shock reaction at news of her transfer.
  22. In other news, Jo Evans is finally out at Texas A&M. I think she has been there 23 years and has 1200 wins or maybe 1300. With A&M's money, the coach search could be quite interesting.
  23. 'm curious to see where the supers will be played. Oregon St. is now to play Stanford in the super that should be in t-town. Miss St. will play Arizona in the super that was scheduled for Tallahassee.
  24. In response to a couple of the posts above: it was so much fun to watch the last inning in Tuscaloosa. I noticed on the ESPN scoreboard that Stanford was leading 2-0 in the 6th, so turned on the TV. Stanford came up in top 7 and started bunting and playing small ball, making uat make plays. Bama couldn't get an out. With runners on 2d and 3d and one out, they walked the next batter to set up the force at any base. Next batter gets a base hit up the middle and CF throws the ball into the stands; 3 score. At this point, they pull Fouts. They score one more on another base hit. First time bama has missed the supers since they started (2005). It's somewhat ironic that we wanted to avoid Tallahassee for regionals, and now one of the three teams I'm pretty sure we're better than has shut FSU out and forced an elimination game. I don't think that 2015-17 were typical of Auburn softball, but I want them to be. A lot of us only started following softball when Myers got here and started having success. We regard the first 18 years as straw men, not to be compared with. We should give Tina Deese some credit, though, as she recruited most of the team that Myers took to OKC.
  25. TD1, who is the player from UT? As I understand your comment, she transferred last year, but delayed the physical move for a year? Assume that means she sat out this season. Just noticed that Clemson run-ruled Louisiana 8-0 in the regional final.
