  1. I may have confused the point here. It was Smith who attempted to steal third, and was thrown out. There was speculation by the announcer that a sign was misinterpreted. Pretty sure, however, that Dean sent Blaine, who isn't fast, to steal second with two outs and Garcia at bat. This was the bottom half of the inning that Lisenby threw out the Bradley runner. Dean often attempts to steal second with two out. Apparently he feels or knows that the odds of stealing second and getting a hit surpass the odds of getting consecutive hits.
  2. Thanks for all the updates. Bradley proved a tougher nut than I expected. I was impressed with Lisenby's arm and accuracy in throwing that runner out. Not sure why Dean had Blaine stealing; a low probability stratagem. Notice Penta threw 127 pitches vs. 90 something for French. No hits for Auburn from the 2-4 positions in the lineup; Cox, Peralta, Ellis. Godwyn. that made the game closer. The Bradley pitcher seemed to be jamming the batters. Lots of fouls down the LF line from the righties.
  3. Glad to see almost everyone get a chance to play. Falisi had a putout in left in the 5th. First time I've seen her. I think Lisenby missed out, but she's probably catching the next game. Yarbrough's first pitch hit the batter, but she did pretty well after that. Worth dialing up the replay to see Packer's escape from a rundown in the first.
  4. At the time, that 87-yard TD vs. UGA was the second longest rushing touchdown in Auburn history. In '83 against Southern Miss, he ran a 94-yarder right before the half; but, a needless clip got it called back.
  5. We just defeated ULM 3-0, in a game without much bat action from us. Lowe gave up two hits and a walk, and struck out 13. McCondichie went 3 for 3, but only 4 hits otherwise. No freshman got a hit. We got consecutive hits off Chavarria in the 3d, and she was pulled for Hulett. We only struck out 3 times, but didn't seem to be hitting the ball solidly. (except maybe for McCondichie) Had the bases loaded with no outs in the 5th, but couldn't score. A win is a win. Games tomorrow televised on SEC+. Delaware State and Bradley, I think.
  6. Auburn gets the 8-0 runrule victory over UML on 10 hits. Ellis and Packer went yard, McNemar with the GWRBI double.
  7. Glad Lisenby played today, she went 3 for 3 vs. Seton Hall. Overall, another good day with 19 hits and homers by Ellis and Bryant. Hate to learn that Penta and Lowe may be our only two pitchers for Clearwater.
  8. Lisenby does not show up in either box score. I was not watching 100% of the time; but I think if she makes it into the game, she should have a line on the box score, as Geraghty and Cooper do.
  9. Bri Ellis is #77. She started the second game at first, after Majors started vs. Seton Hall. Both our pitchers were dominant, although Penta gave up a couple hits, including a dinger. We were teeing off on the first Hall pitcher, but the substitute (#5) held us scoreless for 3 innings. We finally got 2 more runs in bot 6 for the final score. We had our way with both St. John's pitchers. Sydney Cox (at 3b) was the offensive star with a homer triple, and 3 doubles in the two games. Godwin blasted one over the scoreboard. We scored overall at least 6 runs on passed balls and clever baserunning. Blaine, who is an imposing physical specimen, relieved Godwin at catcher a good bit. She may have started the 2d game there. I thought Dean might start two different lineups, but Ellis for Majors was the only change for the 2d game. Later, Abbey Smith played center and McNemar played second. Geraghty and Schmidt may have gone into the outfield, as well. The only players who didn't get on the field in some way were Falisi and Lisenby.
  10. Gonna be interesting to see the starting lineup. They aren't giving us anything on Twitter.
  11. What started all this mess anyhow? I still haven't found the genesis of it.
  12. Check the article on the AU bball page. I think you are correct. Before that time, though, it was back in the 50s.
  13. Only 12 days until the first game. Hoping someone can give us a scouting report from today's Orange/Blue scrimmage. Excited to see this year's team on the field.
  14. Not to nitpick, but clarify: Above, you (JAD003) mentioned a competition for shortstop between Peralta and Bryant. Further down, you referenced a battle between Peralta and Roach for that position. Which is it? I had the impression last year that Bryant had some fielding issues at third, and so would be surprised to see her start at short; but perhaps I misinterpreted. Otherwise enjoyed your post.
  15. Agree with JAD003. Maybe Dean needs a higher win percentage for job security, but I'd like to see at least one series vs. someone like Louisiana, FSU, James Madison, or a NC game vs. an SEC team we aren't playing this year.
  16. Twitter reporting that Roberts, Milanowski, and Rolfe have signed.
  17. I was also at that game and concur with your assessment. Those were quickie jerseys, I think, and the color was off. I could go for an artfully executed orange home jersey, though. Don't like what Oklahoma has done to their white jerseys with the shoulder wedges. I did always like Miami's orange and green home jerseys.
  18. It probably was. Both rbs were on the team, Johnell is the one I could remember at the time.
  19. Good topic. I also mourned the loss of our UT and Florida rivalries. Lots of great games and great moments. First time I saw these two teams was 1957, AU winning 13-0 on the way to the natty. Then in '58 we won by taking a deliberate safety. 6-5 Auburn. In '65 they were the opponents in the first game telecast from Auburn. We win 28-17. Great game in '66, in which Gusty Yearout took a fumble off the back of Larry Ellis and went 91 to the house. Florida won it 30-27, though, on a FG by Steve Spurrier. He had never kicked one before. In '67 we blocked 2 punts to win 26-21. In '69 we had the matchup of Sullivan-Beasley vs. Reaves-Alvarez. The tigers win 38-12 as Auburn's D records nine (9) interceptions. One of my favorite games was '83, both teams undefeated. Late in the game, I think we were up 21-14; Florida knocking on the door. One of Florida's two great RBs angles for the pylon in the north endzone, west side; he gets in, but Tommy Powell hammers the ball out just before Johnell Williams(?) crosses the goal. The ball goes into the end zone and out of bounds. Touchback, Auburn's ball on the 20. Charlie Pell was apoplectic. He came all the way over from the Florida bench to plead his case, argued a long time to no avail. Finally everything settled down, and the teams lined up. On the first play, Campbell handed it to Bo, and he went 80 to the house. And who can forget the '93 and '94 games?
  20. I'll take Marcus McNeil and Alexander Wright.
  21. It's entirely possible that I'm recalling two years ago; I just remember having close games with the likes of Wallace St. and losing to AUM.
  22. I'm somewhat encouraged for next season by the showing this fall. I know they are all jucos, but we played mostly jucos last fall and won by 2-1 and scores like that. With some run support, we can start to climb the ladder again.
  23. I don't, but here's the article: https://auburntigers.com/news/2021/10/15/softball-tiger-offense-explodes-for-22-runs-in-bevill-state-win.aspx Must've been fun with 23 hits. All 4 pitchers used; KK started. Garcia with the only dinger. I believe Kenadie Cooper was 4 for 5.
  24. Godwin was listed as starting at DP vs. AUM, but we have been told previously that the published lineups only vaguely resemble reality. At any rate, Godwin is a known factor; makes sense for Dean to get a look at Lisenby, who was listed as starting at catcher, and Blaine in the fall. Glad to hear Penta was warming up.
  25. Tigers avenged last year's loss to AUM 8-1 today, in a game scheduled for 10 innings. Tigers got 13 hits, including dingers from Schmidt (2) and Peralta. Warhawks collected 8 hits, scored with help of Auburn's one error in the 9th or 10th. Lowe started, relieved by Yarbrough, then KK. Should b a writeup on the news page soon.
