  1. Jessie Blaine named SEC Freshman of the Week. Well deserved; I think she had 8 RBI. Re my earlier post: OU beat UK 9-1, hit 6 homers. Alo had two, Brito two, and Elam two. Elam had 3 homers in her previous game, and homered in her first two ABs against UK, giving her homers in 5 consecutive plate appearances. Taylon Snow still playing first for the Sooners, leading off and hitting .504 as of tonight.
  2. Just noticed that Kentucky has a game tonight (on now) against Oklahoma. UK defeated alabama 9-4 Sunday, after losing the first two. Fouts took the loss after going 2 1/3 and giving up 5 runs. UK is usually a pretty good hitting team, and they still have Kayla Kowalik at catcher, who is a hitting machine.
  3. CMD has some fun problems with this group. Peralta, Blaine, and Ellis have to be in the lineup with their bats - 20 homers among them. Peralta hitting .386. Cox is the best fielder in the infield, with only two errors on the year, and she's hitting .328. McCondichie at .433 can also play infield. I like Roach, but where are we going to shoehorn her in? Can Peralta play outfield? Possibilities . . .
  4. I watched the game on reply and saw McCondichie; she didn't look well. We may see her back Monday; if not, I would think next game for sure.
  5. She may have been sick or something. Shocked that our pitching gave up so many hits. We came into the year thinking that pitching was a lock. I'm afraid that Lowe's condition may persist; she obviously isn't healthy yet. About the only good news from today is that aTm beat Florida 5-0.
  6. Just noticed that the KSU game has been postponed due to weather, as TD1 predicted. Good news for the pitchers.
  7. Kennesaw is 7-13 on the season, including 4 consecutive losses to Samford. They did lose only 8-6 to Arkansas at Fayetteville. The team ERA is 5.27. They still have Melanie Bennett, who shut us out last year. 3B Taylor Cates had two homers in their shutout victory over us last year.
  8. LSU won the first game 13-6. Fouts started for bama, went 2 2/3, gave up 5 hits and 5 runs, walked 6.
  9. Is this now the best season start in program history?
  10. Just saw on Twitter - no game today. DH tomorrow beginning at 11.
  11. I want to give KK a little more glory. She saved the game for us until the hitters could catch us up. Also want to mention that superb throwdown from Godwyn in top 8. Peralta basically just caught the ball against the runner's leg. Magnificent play.
  12. Proud of the girls for coming back from 3 down. aTm an aggressive hitting team, had 13 hits tonight. Not intimidated by Penta. The surprise was the ineffectiveness of Lowe. Hope this isn't an indication of arm troubles. Denver Bryant an entirely different player this year.
  13. Toledo has inserted Johnson in the circle. We had lots of popups with her yesterday. Blaine lines to short and Garcia pops out to CF.
  14. Game ends at 6-1, but I'm still a bit concerned about Lowe. She walked two batters in the 7th. Very unusual.
  15. Dismukes walked the first two batters in the 6th on 3-2 counts, and Lowe came back in.
  16. I'll help out a little. Godwin hit into a double play, so the 5th ended 6-1. Dismukes coming in to pitch. The first pitcher for A&T (Johnson) had an ERA like 7.85. I couldn't see why we couldn't score. The second pitcher (Schmidt) appears more to our liking. I'm concerned about Lowe's coming out. Hope that doesn't mean an injjury.
  17. Really glad to see KK back. Another look for the opposing batters, plus saving the arms of Lowe and Penta. A&T's pitcher wasn't too shabby, as we only got 4 hits. Looks like Toledo has scored a run in top 1 on a HBP and an error on Bryant.
  18. I followed on Live Stats. Georgia State's stat program is way better than ours. All kinds of cool information available.
  19. Penta coming back in. She had given up 3 hits and one walk in 5 innings, with 8 Ks.
  20. Auburn leads 5-0 going to bot 3. After two scoreless innings, Bryant led off the 3d with a double. McCondichie bunted her to third, reaching first safely herself. She then stole second; a bad throw ensued, Carlee took third and Denver scored. Packer tripled, driving in McCondichie; Cox walked, PR by Smith. Smith stole second, and took third on a wild pitch, Packer scoring. Peralta and Ellis fanned, Garcia walked. Garcia stole second, and Smith stole home. Blaine and Godwin walked. Bryant was HBP, RBI. McCondichie struck out. Now going to top 4, as GSU failed to score in bot 3; still 5-0.
  21. We're a quarter of the way through the season; seems a good time to look at the offensive stats. - Team batting average: .344 (Opponents .166) - Three players hitting over .400: Packer (.478), McCondichie (.444) and Bryant (.441). Packer's OPS is an outrageous 1.499. We have 7 players with OPS over 1.000. - Team home runs: 22 - same as all last year. 8 triples and 30 doubles. Packer and Ellis with 5 dingers each. Cox leads with 5 doubles. - Runs scored: 117 (7.3 rpg) We scored 9 once last year, as I recall. - Stolen bases: 28/33 - Freshman batting: Peralta leads at .385; She's the RBI leader with 16; next is Ellis with 14 (.256) and Blaine is at .316. Dean seems to have found a lineup early. Six players have started every game, Blaine has started 15, and Ellis 14. Catcher position has been split between Godwyn and Lisenby.
  22. Lowe gets the Warhawks 1-2-3, and it's win #15 for the Tigers; 7-3 over Louisiana-Monroe, who have a competitive team. Next game: vs. Georgia State in Atlanta, Wednesday at 5.
  23. Auburn retakes the lead with 3 runs from doubles by Godwyn and Cox, plus a couple of well-placed bunts. 4-3 Auburn going to top 5. ULM now on their 3d pitcher, Hulett, who gave us trouble in Game 1 vs. ULM. ***************** Still 4-3 going to top 6. Lowe relieved Penta in the 4th. Bryant made it to 3d in the 5th, but McCondichie grounded out. Top of the order will be coming up in bot 6. ***************** 7-3 Auburn going to top 7. Packer doubled, Peralta walked, Garcia homered to straightaway center. We have now equalled last year's home run total.
  24. Auburn trailing 3-1 in top 4. ULM scored 3 in the top of the 3d. Auburn loaded the bases with no outs in the bottom, but couldn't score. Blaine popped out, and Garcia and Ellis whiffed. Comeback needed.
  25. Noticed that Dismukes is at least in uniform, plus jacket and gloves. Would be helpful to get her back to take some innings. I think Ellis was 0 for her last 16 when she hit that first pitch bomb. Next pitch, Godwyn goes scoreboard. Syracuse seemed to be a well-coached team, but with a talent gap. They got 5 hits off Lowe.
