  1. Agree 100%. Wouldn't matter if they were hosting Backwater U. This is already an historic team. It's either that, or pack your bags for Gainesville, Starkville, Knoxville, Tampa and beyond. SEC and NCAA tourney tickets might be easier to come by. It was well worth the Ticketmaster cost of $100 per seat for the 2 game session with Gonzaga/Baylor and Auburn/Kansas in 2019 on the NBA Jazz' homecourt in Salt Lake City.
  2. Vandy was very active and their commitment to executing ball screen action really stood out. Probably better than any team we've played. They were constantly running our guards into screen after screen after screen trying to free up Pippen. Yes we were hounding him. Trying to wear him down, which did affect his FG shooting. But we fouled him a million times with a number of them being 25-30 feet away from the bucket. Zep and KD both got into foul trouble, meaning Wendell had to absorb those minutes and he was already struggling to make shots. To his tremendous credit, he always seems to find other ways to ignite the team. Just. Wow. As for Flan, the effort and hustle is there. But he's still not in sync with the flow of things. As if he's trying too hard one minute. A little confused the next. Last night in particular. The game looked too fast for him. Take a queue from Jabari. No need to force things, let the game come to him, and cut out the turnovers. Some of that was Vandy. They got after it and didn't let up until the final whistle. Jabari was the best player in college basketball last night.
  3. #1. I hope the team reads this. #2. Jabari is a such a good natured kid. I'd use this as fuel to put a serious hurt on my opponents. Wait until this kid plays with a chip on his shoulder. #3. Zep plays, we beat Arkansas by double digits. Should have beaten them in regulation.
  4. This Vol team looks different. Chandler and Ziegler are quick as lightning. You can always count on their defense. Question is. Can they score consistently? We’ll need our best road effort.
  5. THAT Vol team tonight was VERY impressive. They played with their hair on fire. No wonder Powell can’t see the floor. Ziegler and Chandler are quick as lightning. High octane. Totally outplayed UK’s guards. Fulkerson attacked the Big T. Got him in foul trouble. And UT pushing the ball up court? Wow. We’ve owned them for a bit now, but this Vol team looks different.
  6. My favorite subject. Ball handlers. Guard depth. Imagine if Desi Sills were on the roster. Man. That's 4 ball handling, attacking guards. Not having him has us on thin ice with 3. Notice how the last 3 road games have played out. All tight, buzzer beater type games. Mizzou (Wendell hurt, returned but not 100%) won by 1, thuga (Jasper out) won by 2, Arky (Jasper out) lost in OT by 4. Lack of guard depth means KD and Wendell get worn down. We can't pressure for as long as we'd like to. And It's not in their DNA to save some in the tank so to speak. Jasper needs to come back now. And when is Berman expected back?
  7. IMO, Zep's defense was badly missed last night, more than ever. If only for one or two possessions, his presence alone likely reduces the drive penetration and foul line opportunities Arky enjoyed last night.
  8. We better have good handles tonight. Arky has nothing to lose. As guard heavy as they are, I'll be surprised if they don't work in a good bit of full court ball pressure. Max effort. Make us work to bring the ball up the floor. Jasper, Cook, Berman. A combination of those 3 need to competently eat up enough minutes to give Wendell and KD a breather. Need those 2 as fresh as possible.
  9. Whoever is competent and willing. Bruce might have to spread the wealth a little in terms of bringing the ball up past half court. Cook, Flanagan, Berman (?)...
  10. Without Jasper, Wendell had to shoulder the entire burden of point guard. KD never brings it up and never plays the point. Ever notice that? Even today he didn't. But it keeps him in the game longer and fresh for his playmaking and kamikaze drives. The point is such an important, but often overlooked task. It can be very taxing. Even for a stud like Wendell. Today he didn't get much of a breather. And it showed. His energy, playmaking, and defense suffered in the 2nd half. As a team it suffered. That's why Bruce had no choice but to sub Cook for a few trips. All 3 of our guards need to stay healthy and fresh. I almost lost it when KD ran off the court in the first half, with an apparent right hand injury. He and Wendell have both had a few close calls. I hope they become a little less reckless and little more selective. And when will Berman return? We need him pronto. Like many others, I'm not expecting a W at Arkansas. Another Tuesday game. Back to back road tests. And the Razorbacks are playing their best ball right now. They are very guard heavy and will challenge us with some serious ball pressure, and drive and kick action. We really need Jasper for this one. We can win if we stay connected and engaged on both ends. Keep those turnovers down. Our bigs need to be WAY more assertive and stronger with the ball. We have done a pretty good job of staying out of foul trouble. So that's a good sign. You may see us play a bit more zone here and there. Bud Walton will be electric. But these are games our guys should LOVE playing in.
  11. I don’t recall seeing our bigs post up much today. Bruce mentioned it. The guards and bigs also did a poor job executing ball screen action as well. That’s why there was so much ‘hero’ ball.
  12. If that is really true, he's dug his own grave. Can't recover from this.
  13. He's perfectly fine with forums, boards, and fans hurling the worst possible vile and innuendo out there. He'll cherry pick whatever 'truth' he can find.
  14. Harsin doesn't really care about winning either. It's obvious he doesn't want to. Just make stuff up.
  15. 3.5 and falling. I'm getting my power bands charged up and ready. My question to him is this. Were his coaches/mentors (Allen, Nut, Koetter, Hawkins, and Peterson) this tough to coach and play for? THAT'S the question he needs to look in the mirror and ask himself.
  16. What's really weird is this. Kirby Smart and Will Muschamp both bounced around lower division football early in their careers. Places like Valdosta State, West Georgia, and Eastern Kentucky. Somehow, they managed to get D1 jobs, and actually excel. Remarkable. Isn't it?
  17. Thanks for posting the videos. There's something special about a team and coach pulling off a major upset. My eyes welled up a little watching it.
  18. Rich Rodriguez might have some experience with fan base / talk radio chatter. Then, Nick Saban shows up.
  19. Don't kid yourselves about Mizzou. They are a Xavier Pinson away from having a winning season and knocking on the door of an NCAA bid. LSU has fallen off without the injured Pinson as well.
  20. Pat Forde’s alma mater, if that wasn’t reason enough.
  21. ALL road wins, no matter how ugly, are bonus points. MOST importantly, Wendell was able to re enter the game! Thank god. We cannot lose any of our guards. Stay healthy please!
