  1. Some QUALITY Teams on that list.
  2. His boom would register on the Richter scale if they end up getting that AJ Dybantsa kid in the next cycle
  3. I think we have to wait to see how the collective NIL looks like when Auburn doesn't have to overpay for being a poor on the field product in football. I'm 100% sure that they're likely overpaying for some of these better players, which logically makes sense when you've been bad for a half decade. But hopefully they get to a point where they're either good enough on the field or they become a NFL pipeline, so that they can get some deals with guys. If they can become less of a black hole, it'd stand to reason that we can divert less to FB.
  4. I can understand certain matchups, like there's not going to be much to say about most of our OOC matchups (they stunk) or the Georgia/Vanderbilt games (they stunk). But there definitely was a group that came out to pile on the losses.
  5. To be fair, this is BY FAR the most discussion basketball has gotten on this subforum in many many offseasons. I don't know why anyone would want the despondent corpse that it usually is around this time, even if they don't agree with the content in the discussion Hell this very thread has been more active than some of the game threads from this season. If people want a different spin, post more
  6. Yeah it's still a competent team IMO. Could still compete for a double-bye in the SECT. Not a championship contender or really even close to one (on paper), but I think it'll be a tourney team
  7. May have been the weakest boom going back to the Gus era lol
  8. Can’t wait for the open tryout for the backup PG position. If I still had some college eligibility left…
  9. Jaylin had the same problem really all of the years where he was a real contributor - it was just never consistent with him. The guy had a first team all SEC locked in if you just stopped his season at the ATM game. If you look at that second team, there’s a lot of guys on there I’d take over him once you zoom out and look at the whole year. I loved the guy and thought he was still our second best player overall, but I would’ve loved to have a more athletic and aggressive person, even if he was a little bit worse of a spacer. Broome apparently plans to play from the perimeter and be more of a 4 for NBA scouts anyway, so a slasher/dunker spot type of guy may not even be an overlap this year.
  10. Based on you disliking every post I’ve made about D**r, I got a feeling that your idea of adjusting may get us some SMU-esque sanctions lol
  11. The posters on here said that the staff was unwilling to go up on Tre’s NIL, so if you trust them, then this makes sense. If you believe we’re broke, then it also makes sense lol
  12. We’ll always have mens and women’s Golf, at least
  13. I’ll chip in to the SEC’s NIL if they can make that a definite lol. The offseason is a success to me if we get out of it with him anywhere else and us having more than 9 playable players
  14. Good or bad I’m usually a pretty even keeled guy, so I may not give this trend the emotional weight some other posters do. That being said, I just don’t believe in letting your emotions be affected by the recruiting process in 2024. None of this is going to make sense if you follow it recruit by recruit, so all we can do is hope it works out in aggregate. I don’t know if that helps but that’s just how I operate
  15. At least we got blocked from taking Dior. That’s one positive note
  16. Can we go back to talking about Pearl’s replacement
  17. Probably, but I was just listing out guys that would definitely be preferable. If Bruce did allow them to get out from under the nepotism promise that I’m sure they’ve made, there’s plenty of good choices out there
  18. Seems like he’s developed some great players and they should’ve beat Kansas. He knows the state well. I wouldn’t be surprised if he was as promising as a Holloway or Golden in a few more years
  19. Derailing the thread at this point (it's not like there's much positive transfer news coming in for us), but I'd love to give a look at a coach from a mid major or from a high major program that's also working with financial constraints. That to me would be one of the 2 biggest strengths a successor could have, and it's largely what has made CBP the guy he's been here. I'd be a bit scared to drop a big bag on a successful coach from a larger school who then has to try to change his whole approach to make it work here. Someone like Todd Golden when he was at San Fran or Matt McMahon at Murray St makes sense to me. I think he's a NE guy through and through but Shaheen Holloway could be about ready to jump a level by the time Pearl is finished. Plenty of fish out there in the sea
  20. I definitely get it! But I do think that if we ended up having Pearl for 15 total years and ended with a string of tourney appearances, maybe a couple more trophies, and never having another long tourney run, I still think it would be considered a gigantic success of a tenure for Auburn. And who knows, maybe the conditions change and the money changes in Pearl's last few years. Or the money gets better for the next guy.
  21. I don't think this post is wrong, but I also think it's a bit loud that they have multiple pieces on the roster that you'd like some insurance on. Chaney could be an every game starter, but it'd be nice to have some insurance there. I simply don't think you can only have three guard bodies in the modern game. We also have 9 players, but 2 are brand new to the game and one is CMo who Pearl himself hasn't shown faith in being an every game player. When you got a roster like we did last year or appear to have this year where the overall talent level is inferior, I think you have to have power in numbers.
  22. Well to be fair to them, that's a balancing act all programs have to make. From the earlier list, I'm sure Alabama pours a ton into their football program too. Regardless of what I personally want, Auburn football is what brings in the profit for the uni as a whole, so it has to be first billing. The "problem" is we only have so much money in terms of the combined pool. Something's gotta give. I don't think it's anything wrong in eventually coming to a point where we just learn to accept the general level of talent and the typical placement we're at in the conference either. We're having great seasons, we're contending for conference championships every other year, we're fine. If we were operating at this level of talent and just stunk, then I'd understand the frustration a bit more
  23. Btw I think Auburn has given Pearl about what it can in terms of NIL (while having all of the other successful programs it does). Alabama, Kentucky, Arkansas, these programs should and do have more NIL than Auburn for basketball. They always will really. We just gotta operate within our means and maximize them, which I feel like we have
  24. And while this will never be advertised to the fans, I think it should pretty much be understood at this point (at least amongst us who are on message boards and stuff). We aren’t going to be rolling in dough in both football and basketball. Just not going to happen. Which is fine for me personally, my expectations match with what we have on the roster I do understand some people would like Pearl to be rewarded with finally getting one of those super team rosters…probably not going to happen even with increased Nike sales, a new TV deal for the SEC, etc. Esp not while the football program is trying to resurrect from the dead
