  1. If you want it in short - Auburn is scratching the bottom of the bottom of the barrel Hell they offered RJ Godfrey like a month and a half and dozens of other commits ago. And he was pretty middling statistically and role wise for that point in the cycle. I don't want to advise anyone of anything but what we've seen to this point would make me temper my expectations for whoever this next commit will be
  2. Truth be told, it’d be one of the more desperate moves I’ve seen in sport to risk the terrible PR and completely shelve aside your morals for a kid who was a great recruit almost 3 years ago and just looked good in juco ranks. We wouldn’t even be doing this for someone who’s a proven starter caliber guy lol
  3. His charge was a felony charge; he had a plea bargain to reduce it to a misdemeanor. Also had charges of simple and aggravated assault, unlawful restraint, false imprisonment…he got a ton of leeway by the courts in those charges being bargained down, I think he’ll be happy just being free and still getting to play any basketball
  4. They did bring Myles Rice into the fold some time after they started pushing heavy for Pegues. May just be a thing of having multiple potential options, or he could truly be a fail safe. Either way, I’m glad they’re still finding viable options and not just locking themselves into having to play a very tight rotation with no real depth. The team needs two more quality guys to really contend for anything
  5. The way you don’t feel regret about passing over him is by looking up Dior Johnson charges That should make the reasonable person be like “alright I get it”
  6. You’ll be playing backup PG for Auburn before Dior does
  7. I'm not an oldhead that really cares about this type of stuff but...I dunno if Denver has earned the same number as your all time winningest player. Guy pooped on himself at the FT line and can't lay the ball up. That screams "12" to me not "2"
  8. It honestly could not matter record wise, one way or the other. They looked fantastic in Maui in 2018-19 and proceeded to suck for almost two months. I’m of the belief that the great OOC run against largely nobodies last year inflated the stock about Auburn quite a bit. So we may kill it there and do great going forward or we may stink there and still do great going forward I do know they’ll definitely know more about their team playing that caliber of opponent than who they played for most of last season’s OOC, that’s for sure
  9. I also don’t know if the offensive part matters all that much. If he starts, he’ll be with 3 other very good offensive players (Pegues if his game translates, CBM, Broome). A defensive menace could provide offensive value by just being a steals + blocks machine and allowing that unit to get in transition more often
  10. From a year ago, but some promising clips. I'd just love a high level wing defender; didn't really have a great matchup physically for Knecht (Mazara was too skinny, Jaylin wasn't fluid enough) and didn't have anyone at all that had the frame for that 6'6 kid at Yale. With Chaney likely having to play a ton of 4 this year, your only defensive options for those big wings are Chad , CMo and Howard if he's ready (probably won't be weight wise, but maybe the instincts will be).
  11. Also playing in a Big 12 that has been generationally hard these last couple seasons. Even though they underperformed this year in the tourney, I think there's some valuable exp for someone who played in that type of grind
  12. I'd definitely have us locked in as top 5. I can't say we'd be the favorite to win the title with Bama, plus I also think A&M is really becoming underrated. It's just such a variable year this year. Hard to feel definitive about most of the contenders imo
  13. I would think losses @Bama, @Kentucky, @A&M, and @Texas. Somewhere around 50/50 to @Ole Miss, home Bama, home Florida, and home Ark. Everyone has a rough road nowadays
  14. Not gonna pretend to know how Auburn chooses what majors they do, but I, outside of rivalries, don't know if Alabama is off the academic caliber to compare to Auburn tbh. They may backdoor a guy into some BS major, but they just aren't of the value of a university where I think it matters IMO. I'd be more interested in how many instances Florida or Georgia has of transfer guys not having their majors offered there (and how they handle that). Those are closer to our academic peers, if not better
  15. Y’all have a wonderful rest of your collective days
  16. I don’t even understand what benching Chad after earlier instances would do to affect what happened in the game. His personality is his personality - again, you recruit the guy knowing that if you’ve done any level of deep diving as the coach. You either play the guy knowing that or you don’t play him at all. Draymond got suspended for about 2 months and he still got into verbal and physical spats with players afterwards. You’re neutering the player if you try to make them play without that ferocity; it’s just basketball 101.
  17. Okay…and his good judgment says that incident is relatively insignificant to his overall value he provided to the team. The arbitrary line was in reference to you trying to establish some line that a player shouldn’t go. There’s no way for a coach to enforce that in the midst of a game and obviously Chad didn’t do anything that would necessitate something like kicking him off the team, even after the fact.
  18. Yeah, good luck setting some arbitrary line that the player tries to focus on every second of a high tempo basketball game. That’ll go REALLY well
  19. I will say that based on the guys with this type of personality that I've watched, plus knowledgeable people discussing the game, it is IMPOSSIBLE to get that type of intensity to only be a positive. You are GOING to have to live with the lows and the highs, or go and recruit a guy that's just a more neutral personality. And there ain't too many teams with lesser talent that've competed without winning the personality battle. By the end, KD may not've been worth the trouble when you consider his reduced role and how precise/consistent a player you need to maximize a bench role. But then again, I can appreciate that the quick bursts of scoring he's given us has saved our collective butts even in that bench role
  20. Yeah I think Bruce is fine as far as disciplinarian goes. I think he just recruited a couple guys who had the edge you want to get under others' skins, and it's hard to know to what extent that becomes a double edged sword until you have the guy on your team. But that's something you gotta deal with. Draymond is one of the 10-20 greatest defenders that's ever lived, he's a star at the skill of getting under the skins of opposing teams. But he's cost GSW some massive games and potentially even championships with his mindset. Anyone just saying Bruce is BAD at disciplining is empirically incorrect. And anyone saying Chad isn't worth the give and take, he's their second best player this year, was a stud of a starter last year, and was the vocal leader in the locker room. His mentality has been an overall positive like Draymond's; you just hate when the pendulum swings the other way
  21. Luther Burden more than anything else IMO. They had Cody Schrader who was a generational RB for their standards too. Better we're playing them this season than last at least
  22. Honestly Purdue, a basketball first school with one of the best tenured HCs that’s also located in the state of college basketball, having more of an NIL wouldn’t be the craziest thing to me. They also have the best player in multiple decades if you look at NPOYs alone, so that’s the only one they really HAD to have…rest of those dudes were complementary
  23. What would donating the money to the school do to get you players. You could donate a trillion dollars to the school, and if they can’t give the money to the players, you’d get outbid by literally everyone else.
