  1. I'm liking the sound of the 7:00 a.m. kickoff. Now, if we could just get it moved to pay-per-view.
  2. I know this will never happen, but I'd love to see ANY Power 5 College/University offer a contract based on winning/accomplishing goals on the field. I just threw some numbers together as an example. There are any number of variations you could include or substitute such as graduation rate, recruiting, clean program, etc. Base Salary = $250,000 Win an SEC game at home = $500K per win (assume there are 4 home games per season = $2M) Win an SEC game away = $1M per win (assume 4 away games = $4M) SEC Championship = $1M National Championship = $2M Buyout if coach leaves for another job or quits = 0.00 Buyout if college/university fires coach = 0.00 Based on this scenario the coach could potentially earn $8.25M. Wishful thinking, I know.
  3. In my lifetime Auburn has hired one coach that made me say "Wow!" Bruce Pearl. I'm hoping the next head football coach will be the second.
  4. How about the drum major? Dude threw his "mace" (I had to look up what it was called) into the ground with precision and accuracy. Maybe some of the tuba players can suit up and play O line.
  5. Not trying to cause any drama. Simply asking who are we going to try and hire? Who are the realistic candidates that can turn this program around? It IS one of the top college jobs in the country but we don't have the best rep of being a great place to be the head football coach.
  6. I honestly have no idea. If we fire Harsin now or after the season, who are we going to get? Who in their right night is going to want to walk into this dumpster fire?
  7. Ever notice how whenever we lose out on a recruit it's always a headline story in the sports section on al.com? "Auburn Loses Out on Recruit," but crickets when a recruit chooses another school that bammer was recruiting? It's comical how slanted towards bammer they are.
  8. And you can bet every team we are recruiting against (not just the SEC teams) is using that point with recruits. Why would you want to go to AU when they've got a lame duck head coach? We seem to be our own worst enemy.
  9. I feel like we are at a cross road on the edge of a cliff. Over the years, and especially in the last decade or so, Auburn football has been mired in bad PR. JetGate, Bobby Lowder/Accreditation issue, Cam Newton recruitment (yes, we were cleared, but still was a black eye), and the Harsin investigation just to name a few. Look at the last 2 coaching searches we've had. Before Gus was hired we talked to Kirby. I've always heard he wanted more control than AU was willing to give him. Seems to have worked out pretty well for UGA. Before Harsin was hired you heard the names of Cristobal, Napier, Tony Elliott, and Venables. I don't know how close we were to hiring any of them, but none of them are at AU and all accepted positions at other schools a year later. Now look at recruiting. I know it's still early, but according to rivals.com we are currently ranked 67th with 4 commitments. Ole Miss is 66th and East Caroline is 68th. We are the only team in the top 100 with only 4 commitments. I read an article this morning (and I don't remember who it was from) that we have offered scholarships to 33 defensive lineman and haven't received a commitment from a single one. 33! If that's true we are truly in a bad, bad place. Take off your orange and blue glasses and try and look at Auburn Football from a national perspective. We don't have a great reputation as being a great place to be the head football coach. With NIL, the transfer portal, and other SEC programs on the rise, we're at a pivotal point and if we're not careful we could be be totally blown away into oblivion. I'm not saying I have all the answers, but I am concerned with where the football program is, and where it is going. I've often said it's hard to be an AU Football fan. It's definitely a roller coaster ride of emotions, but I will always cheer for the Tigers no matter what.
  10. Helluva position they have put Harsin (deserved or not) and the entire football program in. I think we'll get hammered in recruiting for the next couple of years, maybe longer. All Saban or Smart or any other coach in the nation has to say is "Do you want to go to a place that is so dysfunctional they can't get out of their own way?" I'm not sure how long this will impact the program but I think it'll be years whether Harsin is the head coach or not. For the life of me I cannot understand why some people put their egos above their "love" for the University.
  11. Here's who I think the idiots in charge of our football program (not AG) will contact in no particular order: 1. Gene Chizik - never mind he lost the team and had to hire a security company to keep the players from breaking curfew 2. Gus Malzahn - we were only kidding. we love you're set in your ways and won't change 3. Tommy Tuberville - he knows politics 4. Terry Bowden - he's really grown up 5. Doug Barfield - he's still breathing 6. Jay Jacobs - he still has the puppet strings on his hands and feet 7. Bill Oliver - maybe 3rd time will be the charm Yes, I'm being sarcastic.
  12. No matter what the outcome AU is yet again going to look bad on the national scene, and this is going to impact the football program for years.
  13. Decisions regarding the future of Auburn and its Athletics programs, as always, are made in the interests of our great university and in fairness to all concerned. Hmmm. I'm having a hard time accepting this statement is true...
  14. I don't know what to believe and what not to believe anymore. It really is hard being an Auburn football fan sometimes. Regardless of the outcome AU looks bad. It's embarrassing. Why not have an AD manage all sports except football. Let the BoT or PTB run the football program. We might as well, because they pretty much run it now or they undermine it if they don't get their way. This whole situation makes me sick.
