Chiming in and making final decisions isn't the same as doing the bulk of the gameplanning. Surely you understand that difference. As for assistants, look at Deion's assistant pool right now at JSU. Its better than most Group of 5 programs. Litetally these are things that a quick google search can show you before you say something. OU hasn't struggled in the Big 12 at all. They have lost a total of 8 conference games in the last 7 years and have won the conference in 6 of those 7 seasons. Texas obviously has struggled, but like A&M, the NIL game is going to change things significantly for them. They just spent $250k on a weekend recruting trip for Arch Manning and that is child's play money in Austin. It won't be same ole Texas in about 2 years IMO. But my main points is that getting to 8-9 wins is going to only get tougher. One less gimme win per year + two really good programs being added to the league.

No, I think you made a laughably bad point.

Comparing us to the spending of Texas is laughable. We aren't in the same ballpark. USC and FSU both have access to elite talent. USC moreso than either program actually because they are the big program in a talent rich area. Our facilities are just now getting better. Auburn is and has been a ways behind in the SEC. And they still pale in comparison to Bama, A&M, Texas, Georgia, etc.

I don't think most folks grasp how hard 8-9 wins is going to be moving forward with Texas & Oklahoma joining the league and a likely 9 game conference schedule + at least one OOC Power 5 game coming. The 3-4 layup wins per year are going to be a thing of the past. I personally love that, but standards are going to have to be recalibrated.

Coach O won a damn title because he can recruit. The HC doesn't do a ton of scheme work or scouting. That's what assistants are for.

We need recruits first and foremost right now. I don't know how anyone can look at our roster and think otherwise. The talent gap between us and the top half of the SEC is already pretty large.

TJ's drive right before the half was actually very solid. Three straight completions against a zone defense when the o-line gave him time. And then Shed fumbled.

When you see a dead end sign, you don't keep driving down the same road. You turn around and alter your course. That's where we are right now.

I'm not advocating for Deion, but the guy did pull the #1 recruit in the country to freaking Jackson State. Meaning he has signed more 5-stars in one season than Auburn has in the last three years combined. It's not a completely insane idea.
