  1. We are talking about the Kentucky that lost to Miss State, UT, South Carolina, and only beat Arky by 4. They finished 4th in the East.
  2. Great news. Sounds like once Zierer gets healthy we will be good to go. By casting a big net I am referring to the kids we have to scurry for after the early signing day. Kids like Ira Henry, Bamidelli Olaseni, and Dawand Jones. Kids we were not hard after until the last minute and we could not make up ground.
  3. Here is the million dollar question. If Flax is good like we think he is then why in the world did we not even approach the guy until a short while ago? I understand Buskey and the injury to Z but I swear its as if every year this staff zeroes in on a small portion, waits until that small sample size does not work on early signing day, and then throws a huge net to try to get anyone to come. If Flax is worthy of a scholly then he should have been approached in August. There is no defending what this staff has done as far as OL recruiting.
  4. Great call. You don't hardly see the field at Auburn but you play for the Patriots all these years.
  5. I loved Therezie and I will let others chime in but I think this kid is better.
  6. Love the sign "Good Things Come In Pink Boxes". You damn right they do lol.
  7. Yes. I have been screaming from day 1 to have Jibunor play LB.
  8. Seriously? Sony, Ingram, Chubb, and even Kenyan Drake. In the same time period we have CAP who doesn't play much, Corey Grant who doesn't play much, KJ who is having a decent year, and Mason who had 1 decent year. Our ability to put RB's in the NFL and excel ended 14 years ago with Caddy and Ronnie. Outside of Auburn nobody nationally knows who Ben Tate and Peyton Barber are. When it comes to the NFL our numbers are horrid compared to our rivals at the RB position. LSU is much better than us. Here is what kids see Since the 2005 Draft Bama- 10 RB's drafted. Out of those 2-1st, 3- 2nd UGA- 6 Drafted. 3-1st and 1-2nd LSU- Since 2010 8 RB's drafted Auburn- 5 drafted 3-2nd ( Ben Tate, Kenny Irons, KJ ) That is 5 RB's drafted from Auburn in 15 years and due to injury or bad luck KJ is the only one any kid would know about.
  9. I also think a good bit of this can be developed in 1's vs 1's in practice as well as team competitions some staffs have where an offensive and defensive guy go at it. You either get your butt kicked every day or you do something about it. I'd be willing to bet we rarely have our starting OL go up against our starting DL. Gus would rather shelter them to give them confidence.
  10. To me part of what we lack is the mental aspect with some of our guys. I am all for the "Family" atmosphere and great character guys but playing in the trenches is a man's game. Sometimes you need 5 mean SOB's that want to kick the shart out of the guy in front of them and impose their will physically. You have to be mean and nasty even if it is only on the field. I don't see that with my naked eye. I see a bunch of really good character guys that I would rather trust my kid with than rely on to move someone in their way. Maybe I am wrong.
  11. I really like DJ's initial burst. Corch can elaborate on what kind of back he looks like better than I can but I think he could be a solid contributor.
  12. Thats pretty good Bird. Great recruiting tool but not so good at yards after contact lol.
  13. Give me 6-1 225 and I am happy. Or 5-9 210 lol. It's all personal preference but I like a thick back with some speed.
  14. I actually think if you look closely he is staring at a hot mom in the stands while that coach is trying to talk to him lol
  15. Gus is having a weird feeling that he should be planning for the big LSU game tomorrow.
  16. This is the most important aspect to our season. If these plays are not implemented and utilized in our offense then everything else won't matter. Furthermore it would magnify the consensus that Gus hired Lindsey to call Gus' plays and nothing more. These are elementary schemes that any coach would use to help the QB, and inexperienced OL, and RB's who struggle with pass pro. Only an imbecile would go into this season running 25 yard pass patterns in blitzing situations. In 2017, Jarrett Stidham was often affected by the pass rush, and especially by blitzes. There are many ways to beat a blitz, depending on how well it’s executed, but Auburn didn’t employ many of those in 2017. With what appears to be an exceptionally talented group of wide receivers, will Chip Lindsey include more “blitz beaters” in his offense? Will Jarrett Stidham be able to execute those he has in his arsenal? A scheme that takes advantage of a blitzing defense can lighten the load on a young offensive line in a major way. With a re-tooled offensive line and a stable of unproven running backs, Auburn’s offense may be required to lean heavily on it’s passing game at times this season. Controlling the pass rush will almost certainly be a key component of that circumstance.
  17. I will have to find it as I don't have twitter but someone I believe posted that Handy is visiting UGA. Kirby needs to get beat down this year.
  18. I agree on Sumlin but he was not a smart recruiter. Sumlin mirrored Richt in that he would have top classes with players that might not fill needs. It's great to get a ton of top WRs and QBs but if you don't get the other parts then it won't matter.
  19. Agree. I think it will be hard to get a RB and OT at this time that we are wanting. If we can't get our top targets to flip then I would almost rather hammer on 2020 prospects instead of signing 3rd tier guys just to sign them.
  20. E, I stated this earlier in the threads but they are like Ray Charles meets no comprende.
  21. Swift had almost the same amount of carries in every game. 22. Chubb nor Sony nor Swift were reserves. UGA had 2 other backs with at least 50 carries
  23. Auburn played against 5 top 50 run defenses in the country UGA played against 7 top 50 run defenses in the country
  24. No. It's am indictment on our recruiting philosophy in the 2016 and 2017 classes.
