  1. I don't think we are that far off on our thinking. The talent disparity between Chubb/Sony and KJ is why I was using the YPC. Chubb averaged 6.55 YPC for his career compared to 4+ for KJ. My opinion is that we need to recruit better backs and more of them in a run first play action system. You can't have 1 injury to Pettway create an issue where you have to either play an injured back in KJ or rely on someone who has hardly any game time experience. The overuse of a RB is not only about the amount of carries in a season but also about having a game plan and team rely solely on the shoulders of one guy. Ride or die with KJ. In the end we got less with more of KJ instead of more with less of KJ.
  2. I posted earlier that Cap had 2 really good seasons at AU with 6.7 yards per carry in 2013 and 6.1 yards per carry in 2014. I am not saying that a low YPC means overuse. I am saying that KJ led the SEC in rushing due to the amount of touches he had and not because of how good he was or how good of a rushing team AU was. The lower YPC means that either A) He was not as good of a back as his peers who were within 45 yards of him with far fewer runs or B ) Auburn was not a great run blocking team when they were 4th in the league in rushing or C) the guy could have used a breather from another back so that he could play to his full abilities without being worn out or injured.
  3. Huh! I am not understanding what you were asking.
  4. This whole argument has been too much in one year. Sony had almost the same amount of carries in 3 years that KJ had in 2.
  5. Chubb played in 49 games compared to KJ's 36.
  6. Sony never had more than 218 in a year and was at 156 and 152 the other two years. To further show that you are wrong KJ only had 52 rushes his first year. So KJ almost had equal attempts in 2 years compared to Sony's 3.
  7. Couple things here. Chubb played in more games than KJ and still had less carries. KJ had the fewest yards per carry, this year and last year, than any back since Ben Tate in 2008. You keep saying we have a highly productive running game. we do not have a highly productive running game right now. We have guys that have to run a ton more than others to get the same yardage. High production would be KJ getting 5.9 per carry for 1681 yards not 4.9 per carry for 1396. A highly productive run game would be 3 guys with 3000+ yards not 3 guys with 2300. Our numbers look successful due to the amount of carries it takes to achieve those numbers. If you are a GM are you taking a kid with 6+ yards per carry who had 150 yards less than the SEC's leading rusher or the kid who had 4.9 yards per carry with 100 more touches and is SEC's leading rusher?
  8. I did not realize this until researching it. E has said this before and it is true. Tre ran a 10.9 100 in HS. Part of what might make him look slower is his stature. 5-8 210 does not look fast when running like 5-8 180 does lol. Tre also had a kick return at AU for 97 yards which does not happen to the slow of foot. I was wrong about him in my previous posts a good while back about his speed.
  9. I agree with the effort but he had a 4.3 ypc average. He needed the speed.
  10. I agree with E. Not top talent they are facing but they do have some like Marist and St. Pius in there.
  11. I would take this kid (Tahj Gary) today and be happy. Not sure how in the world he is a 3 star kid. 5-9 205 with speed and runs like a beast. Not sure if I am allowed to post his video here or not but the kid is a serious baller.
  12. Well you are probably correct. Tough morning on here and the board needs your level head. I respect it even though we think differently. I just can't get over the RB thing with Emery now going to UGA. It is chew, rinse, spit and repeat. They need to be on some studs for 2020 now at the RB and OT position. This year is officially a swing and a miss. I understand OT with Grimes but for the love can we please have elite backs give us a look.
  13. It is almost as if they have been notified by a good bit of their top targets that they are going elsewhere and they have started looking hard at 2020. I am glad they are looking hard at these guys and trying to get on them early. We simply have to do something different at our recruiting efforts concerning the RB position. It ain't working. Yes we have proven that we can plug guys in and get 1000 yards out of them in a season. We need to hit on some elite guys where they each get 850-900 yards a season while RB#3 is getting 700 yards as well.
  14. I have to agree here and it looks like E explains why below.OT's, RB's, and LB's seem thin with none of our initial wants at those positions coming. I am starting to get seriously worried about the RB position and OT as well. I had hoped that this year was a swing and a miss and that they were working really hard on some for next year. Maybe they are. I just would have liked to have seen more coming this weekend.
  15. True. We need Mullen and Pruitt to step up to make the East competitive. UGA's schedule is a complete joke. Sept. 1 AUSTIN PEAY Sept. 8 at South Carolina Sept. 15 MIDDLE TENNESSEE STATE Sept. 22 at Missouri Sept. 29 TENNESSEE Oct. 6 VANDERBILT Oct. 13 at LSU Oct. 27 Florida (Jacksonville) Nov. 3 at Kentucky Nov. 10 AUBURN Nov. 17 MASSACHUSETTS Nov. 24 GEORGIA TECH That is a complete joke! I mean a complete joke. At least the BCS dinged you for such a sucky schedule. Now UGA has a Middle School schedule set up for them with no recourse.
  16. I will give Jimmy The Snake Pruitt credit for one thing. That man is selling the honey to the honey bees. Come be a part of something great at UT. It will only take 5 years.
  17. This. Instead of giving Willis important reps under pressure in garbage games we almost strictly had him run the read option. We have zero clue what the future holds for him under pressure throwing the football other than A Day and that was not pretty. Remember when JJ played in 1 game against a bad Arkansas team and people had him in the Heisman talk to start the following year. What if Saban had only allowed Tua to run the zone read and nothing else before needing him in the championship game. Depth at a position is more than just having people lined up to play there. Having depth at a position is what Rodney Garner does by rewarding max effort with playing time so that his guys are fresh and so that he knows what he has the following year without waiting until they must start before finding out. QB is obviously a different animal but can we at least know what we have for next year instead of waiting until game 1. Sign this Sandberg guy up.
  18. This is extremely important in my opinion. I never like to fill a slot at a position just to fill it if the kid is not starter material. I know we need OL's and if there are some we can get that we feel very good about contributing then take them. Just don't take someone because we are low on numbers there if they are going to get beat out by next years recruit at that position.
  19. I agree. If a recruit is looking for a comfortable feel then I think he will find it at any UOV he goes on.
  20. I was saying that the unofficial visits like the cookout seem like they are better at times for spending time with a recruit and his family than an official visit. Is that what you were saying or did I get it crossed up lol
  21. Absolutely. If you need to talk to someone about a serious matter would you rather do it on Christmas day while everyone is opening presents or at a dinner where the two of you can talk.
  22. That is good to know. For some reason I dislike kids going to these events more than an official visit. Maybe it will rain in Knoxville that day lol
  23. I agree with E here big time. Pruitt is selling ice to Eskimos right now. The last thing we want is Puckett going to their cookout and not ours. I could be wrong but I don't recall him at Big Cat either. If recruits choose partly because of relationships and feeling comfortable then we need Zion at AU for the BBQ
