an alpha may cheat, but cheating =/= alpha. using your will to bring about conditions that favor you could be another defining characteristic though.

agree. thats why i said "for one" as in one characteristic.

for one, they want to win at everything. everything is a competition with alpha types and they wanted to win at everything, typically.

its soooooo early in the season too. that one of the worst parts. if a change was made, would any decent coach even start fielding offers this early?

pick one a metric, it doesn't matter. the format here has had me say gus is a better coach to make a point. truly the point i want to make is 1)i don't want freeze primarily because of his character and not necessarily due to his coaching prowess and 2) if i am looking at coaching prowess i do not see, AS A WHOLE, much if any differences between gus and freeze. i don't want gus back and i don't want freeze. idk, there is a reason gus is where he is and freeze is where he is. i don't want either. you guys take that personally for some reason, not sure why.

i agree with this mostly. 2010 was possible because of Cam and the heavy vet oline from tubberville. 2013 was possible from the heavy vet oline from chizik's recruiting. edit: i should say vet heavy TALENTED olinmen. not just upperclassmen, though they were that too.

thats fine. you guys who want freeze can argue the "eye test" instead of more objective metrics. i disagree. but even if i accept that coaching wise there is little daylight between gus and freeze, all the fake holy roller BS and baggage that would come with freeze is enough to put me off of him. thats my opinion of course. that said, if Auburn hires freeze, ill not like it, but i will hope he is VERY successful and if he is i will gladly come here and take every bit of "we F@#$ing told you!"

I know who Malik Willis is guy. Great, he got drafted too. I’m very happy for him. Hope it’s gets better for him than it went tonight. Gus had qbs drafted. You aren’t making the point you think you are.

I’m not advocating to get gus back either. I was genuinely curious why you push so hard for freeze. You didn’t give compelling reasons. By all measurables gus is a better coach.

Gus beat bama more, had more hardware, and overall was a better coach than huge freeze by all metrics. having Malik Willis one year at liberty doesn’t make him some great qb developer it makes him fortunate to have a blue chipper at a tiny school. haha

i don't know if he can recruit or not because he got ole miss in trouble for shadiness and end up having to leave and they had to vacate (haha) a lot of his wins. in his years at ole miss they were 6-6, 7-6, 9-3, 9-3, 3-7. and if he had not beat alabama twice there wouldn't be any more to say. i honestly can't remember one of his qbs. thats probably more on me than him. but we have established qb doesn't matter if the line can't block.

and that takes time. unfortunately it can't be gained back in one (maybe even 2) classes. but steps forward are required.

it would have been an uphill battle for the best of coaches. harsin seemingly didn't adapt to his changing landscape. in other words he didn't try and help himself in an already bad situation. i wish it wasn't the case. i truly wanted him and Auburn to be successful.

yes, im not suggesting this isn't a great outcome, im saying even as well as he has done there in that situation its still taken 6 years for an NC and he has only won one seccg. as has been said ad nausium here, once you get "your guy" you have to give him time and resources. and Auburn is in much worse shape than uga was when smart got there.

and not that smart didn't hit the ground running, but its taken him 6 years to win a NC and he has only won one sec championship. and richt didn't leave the roster empty. we have a much bigger hill to climb.

#1A and 1B is a recruiter. if you have a top class recruiter they can not only recruit players but other coaches/recruiters as well.
