  1. I mean you don't have to concede it. However, it is a real possibility based on all the unproven areas we have on this team. Not explicitly talking about you, but I think it is going to be a punch in the mouth for a few around here, if and when, the season does not meet the certain expectations we are accustomed to. I personally think at the very least, we should ,at the minimum, be an 8 win team, with our lowest of lows being 6-7 wins. I don't think it is ever as bad as it ever seems (2012), but I also do not believe that we should be giving the benefit of a doubt to a shaky offense or bad QB play, with two weeks give or take, spared before the season opener. If we were playing an okay team to begin the season, then I would be like "Okay, we have time to work the kinks out." We are about to play the National runner-ups, returning possibly the best QB in the nation on prime time T.V. If we are not prepared, we will get embarrassed out there.
  2. I think that is where you and I have a stark disagreement. Should we have to depend on our offense to win games for us? No. However, since 2010, this is specifically the position that AU finds itself in. As far as, these other teams with ? marks at QBs, I can only think of two who fall into our category, where we pretty much have ? marks at every other facet of their teams' dynamics. Arkansas and Miss. State, who quite frankly, we should be beating annually on talent alone. Every other team that we face has at least a proven commodity.
  3. I think people need to be realistic and understand that this team at its max could be a 7 win team. Most teams in this league have talent and potential. The bottom line is our talent on the offensive end is very unproven. Additionally, our QB play is shaky at best. Even, if we do see a stark improvement this year, the schedule is not favorable. We have a tough stretch early on. I am just hoping, we beat the teams we should beat and make every game as competitive as possible.
  4. I wouldn't recommend it unless you have the talent of the 2001 Miami Hurricanes.
  5. In all three of their losses, the other teams also dominated offensively. If you noticed, they all scored over 30 points. Kind of got to take that into consideration, seeing as they won every other game when the opposing team did not score at least 30 points. Really? They put up 40 against Bama and Oklahoma State. Put up 38 against Miss state and LSU. Put up 50 in a loss to Arkansas. Oh and yes, they did put up 70 against the lower tier teams. I would hardly call that stat misleading.
  6. Good catch. Typing on this mobile app is hell. Quality input, though.
  7. Ole miss averaged 40 points a game, while LSU averaged 32 points a game last year. Arkansas should've been a W, but the other two..you will have to do a lot more to win against them. Mississippi was giving up 23 ppg, while LSU was giving up 24 ppg. Not good enough.
  8. It shouldn't be this way. I am hoping for the best this year, but based on what is going on at the QB position, I am prepping for the worst. I still say we should get at least 7 wins.
  9. Go to :50 seconds. Probably the exact same thing, except he actually recovered it. Hoping you were being sarcastic.
  10. Makes me really ponder as to why we didn't give Jerod Evans a serious look..couldn't have hurt, in lieu of the addition of JF3.
  11. Yeah, but I heard SW did move the ball well towards the end. I am just perplexed, to be honest that we are in this position...Sounds like the defense and Pett did pretty good though.
  12. Apparently on the RANT and Twitter (not good sources). Neither did very well today. SW had two turnovers but moved the ball towards the end and JF3 had one as well. Again, not reputable sources, but all that is around. Apparently, SW did work with the 1s though and JF3 with the 2s
  13. I was speaking of consistent sweeps, more so. I clarified it in my second post. Thanks for the catch though.
  14. exactly..look at 2:18. They don't even get the count right for motion over and the defense still has to account for the sweep guy and D-Mac.. Leads to a TD. Only if it was that simple. Hey D-Mac, go out and take some snaps.
  15. Exactly. Just like Cam. The only time a true wild-cat usually happens is when you honestly don't have a typical running threat at QB. E.G. D-Mac in for Casey Dick or Mustain. Sweep guy isn't fooling anybody with Casey Dick handing the ball off to him. Neither was Chris Todd in 2009, which is why Burns entered the game. Also, D-Mac did throw some and was actually pretty successful at it. Maybe K.J. can be a poor man's D-MAC in terms of this. Who knows.
  16. And of course 2013 and 2014 with Grant and R.L. Disclaimer: I am not saying we need a DT-QB to run a sweep
  17. Darren McFadden is not walking through that locker room.
  18. Haha good find. Another one bites the dust.
  19. I normally don't LOL but this seriously got to me tonight.
  20. edit this bruh..not a good look.
  21. I was thinking every good to great athlete and/or coach possesses that.
  22. In what compacity or role will KB presumably be stepping into? I can't see him coming here unless it is at OC and if we have an adequate year on the offensive side, I doubt CRL will be going anywhere
  23. They need to put a full-court press on this kid. Impressed the hell out of me when I saw him play his first game at Baylor.
  24. My apologies. So this Joey kid, pretty damn good, huh?
  25. The idea that one QB will make bad seasons into good ones and keep us out of the SEC cellar is, to say the least, very weird. A good team (which we will have) won't be in the cellar because of one position. This is just stupid. The QB position is one of the most integral positions in the game of football. Look at what happened to Oregon, the games that Vernon Adams did not play for them. Anytime they faced a team with a pulse they lost. TCU scored an unprecedented 31 unanswered points against the ducks in the second half in his absence and they got obliterated when he wasn't there during their game against the UTES. Adams played defense too? Who knew he was a renaissance man? Yeah this went right over your head. I wasn't expecting you to understand anyhow. Anywho, this Joey Gatewood! Pretty good, huh? Nothing went over my head, you're just wrong. If a team gives up 31 points in a half it's not due to their own QB play, it's because their defense sucks. So, as I said, the QB position alone won't put an otherwise good team in the cellar. Now, if they have poor QB play and the defense sucks and their RB's fumble and their receivers drop good passes, then they will end up in the cellar but it won't be solely because of the QB. 31 UNANSWERED points. Do you know what UNANSWERED means? It means despite the defense giving up 31 points, the offense put up ZILCH the whole second half. You can have the best defense in the nation, you can have boobie miles in the backfield and Jerry Rice at the Z, but if you have uncle rico as your QB, none of those makes much of a difference. You are the only person on this thread who remotely believes this notion. Oregon was a completely different team with Vernon Adams than without him. I think AUJeff cited that Oregon only had 18 yards on 18 plays for the second half, after producing over 300 yards in the first half, yet you are going to blame the defense. With Vernon Adams, they lose to Michigan state by 3 at Spartan stadium. Without Vernon Adams, they lose 62 - 20 against UTAH at Eugene. With Vernon Adams, they are up 31-0 against TCU at the half. Without Vernon Adams, they ultimately lose 47-41 in OT against TCU. He makes a huge difference in their team dynamics. You can keep your head in the sand all you want, but if he doesn't play for Oregon, they are probably 6-6 like us. Does that mean QB play is the only thing that matters? NOPE. Can QB play change you from being an average team to a good to a great team? Yes.
