  1. My uneducated perspective is that it was significantly-better at least the 1st half of this season. Probably just a function of the personnel who chose to *try* and not across the board. That, specifically, has been atrocious for the last many years, with tons of DPI to show for it.
  2. I wasn't positive about #3 after last week, because of the apparent lack of effort and the fact I don't have real-time intelligence from the athletics complex. But I assumed the team would not have played as hard today for the whole game if they did not have some bond and loyalty. Ironically, with Harsin's Alabama game the (some of the) team asserted they were unified around Harsin. Maybe that's as much a testament to the Auburn environment as the charisma and leadership of the coach. Regardless, it is important going forward when those recruits get on campus (vs the Jimbo experiment).
  3. Glad to see that telling disgruntled people who just want to vent to 'settle down,' works so well. I need to try that with my wife. (<-- yellow font)
  4. I have a similar sentiment to most of your posts. Though all the anecdotes people throw out don't constitute proofs of anything, yet another would be my sarcastic assertion: we know talent makes perfect by watching Jimbo's last couple years. There was a lot going on this year with a lot of new faces and lack of cohesion. It could have been worse, all things considered. But it gets old just hearing: wait til we replace all these scabs with good players. It practically takes planetary conjunction in NCAA football to achieve what we'd like to have. Jury is out with so few data points with this coach in this environment. But there were lots of f-ups this yea not solely the responsibility of the talent we have. No real reason to be absolute one way or another yet.

If God wanted you in church he would have let Auburn win. Simple.
  6. We'll just go get a new payment on a car we can't afford, and probably a woman with expensive tastes who will just use us. Then we'll be right back on skid row.
  7. Yep. The future is not known and why we'll succeed or fail is not as absolute as some yell one way or the other. It has been asserted this team was devoid of talent and depth, yet it went toe to toe and in position to beat 2 premier, 5* teams. This in fact was probably not a write-off year, but that was a story line assumed by some to be necessary to keep heat of Freeze (similar to assertions made when Harsin was new and hope sprung eternal). Now, to the coaching staff's credit, apparently they did not completely abandon the team this year to recruit solely, because we saw 'some' player development and 'some' clever game planning. In another year, even without a top 5 recruiting class, the team (coaches and players alike) probably add a couple wins to a season. Mere stability works wonders. Maybe we get a top 5 recruiting class and they turn out like aTm and Jimbo and find a way to lose 4-5 games a year. The only thing absolute is we Auburn football fans will always be on a roller coaster, vs the superspeedway some programs enjoy.
  8. Can we assign an angry mother to shadow Freeze full-time for the next year. You know, the one who always looks angry, chain smokes, and whenever the coach says anything, she slaps him on the head and says, "Shut up you idiot!"
  9. Here's where AU football fans are, and why the negative vibe at the folks saying things like "write off year" and "just be patient". I cannot possibly lower my expectations. I've had them set on "just show up and don't default for 60 minutes" for about 4 years. And, we are finding ways to implode in even more creative ways.
  10. If it was ANY other football team. But at Awwwwwwburn, odds only increase the higher the down number and longer the yardage. If it could be 5th down and 100 yards, odds are 100% we give up the score.
  11. I wish I could block out the fact Auburn football exists hereafter. I want to love and support it. It just keeps kicking me in the balls.
  12. All we had to do was catch one kick and run the clock out ... to win the game the players had managed to control. Edit: Correction - we didn't even have to be in the same zip code as that punt.
  13. Awesome. He has no need to know. But actually, I think radio (Andy) kept saying Scott. That wouldn't be surprising for Andy B.
  14. It's our lot in life. It's not a lot. But it's our life.
  15. Not consistently. The sunshine pumpers are doing their job trying to create support and kill any dissent. But the best we can hope for is the stable is full for the next cycle (at which point we'll probably hire a worse coach).
  16. I was saying the exact same thing. Looks that way. How do you so deliberately yank defeat from the jaws of victory? That wasn't the players calls.
  17. We should continue to recruit (coaches). One day maybe we will get an entire coaching staff with any semblance of competence.
  18. Wow. Players could have played well enough to win. But tactics eliminated the last ounce of hope. This was not simply bama running faster or being stronger. The deciding factor was the dumbest $h1t at the worst times from the coaching tacticians. Putting it behind me, but the team who may not have been very good got shortchanged.
  19. We should have killed the broadcast about 15 minutes ago.
  20. Jason Campbell having a hard time putting any spin on the situation. Me too.
  21. Of course. The most fundamental things we decide not to do: rush the QB.
  22. 2nd most embarrassing thing about Auburn: like the Cal game, giving a QB hours to make a play.
  23. Of course. You can't expect anything more of them.
