  1. Agree- the episode with Caddy is fantastic. I remember he was graded highly prior to deciding to come back for the 04 season, but I did not know about him getting a 1st round grade back. His overall story is great.
  2. Slightly off topic (but related)- when does the new Football facility open its doors? I know the BCW is mostly not football related, but I cannot help but think of what an impact that place will make on a recruits decision.
  3. I hate that his recruiter for Alabama is Travaris Robinson. I understand him going to Alabama... good for his career... but him being there is still unsettling.
  4. Combination of football stories, getting to know coaches, leadership/success philosophy. It was a great listen.
  5. Well, if he is going to go down at least he will go down swinging. I still think recruiting is an unknown. I am hopeful, but the deck seems stacked against this coaching staff. Kiesau is a actually a very good OC. He should be an upgrade .
  6. I am cool with being wrong. It was never my intention to make things worse. If he did not, then I would rather be wrong than right. I hate it when people knowingly spread stuff. I hate that I might have unknowingly perpetuated the myth when voicing my frustration.
  7. As I was. My intention was not to make things up, just voice frustration with this whole thing. I am cool with admitting when I am wrong.
  8. Hoke has reminded me more of National Enquirer than any true sports reporter lately. If I recall, he was the guy who "broke" the affair news. He then quickly backpedaled when it was looking like BS. It is a shame... I wish people in the media would realize that if they stuck to facts and had some integrity, rather than constantly try to to be the first one to talk about something they would probably be more successful. I would rather someone approach stories with realism and rationality rather than the fantastical.
  9. Out of curiosity I went to the Arkansas State Message board, and the majority of posters there think that story is a load of crap. According to them he was not in danger of being fired there. He had a good season. They were a Memphis win away from it being an exceptional season. He probably would not have been hired to be the Boise coach if he did get fired there. I am not certain what the real answer is, but it looks like something that will definitely sell some papers and garner attention. I am waiting for concrete proof rather than pure conjecture or, "this journalist said this..." I am interested in seeing how this all pans out. The longer this goes on, the higher probability they have to drop the case against him.
  10. Typical JG hit job. That guy is a Bama apologist. Pure trash.
  11. How do you know? What if the players were not living up to the Creed and they were asked to leave?
  12. I am not going to read all of these posts, since it is apparent most of them are either off topic or have a negative agenda. Does anyone have any solid insight as to why Austin left, or are we resigned to the belief that Harsin is just a terrible coach who is not going to succeed? Could a rational explanation like Austin took time off from coaching because he wants to do something crazy (like save his marriage) be what’s really happening? I have no clue what’s going on, but the emotional maturity displayed by about four or five of you is astounding.
  13. Holy wow, the negativity in this thread is high. I am not sure what the right move is. I do know from experience that I would rather have a competent person who is “bought in” than a highly skilled super star who isn’t. The super star who isn’t on the same page as the leader will still have influence and can affect the overall chemistry of the team (or staff). I don’t know what is going on at Auburn. Maybe the rumors are true, maybe they are not. Maybe this was always going to be a one year stint. We don’t know and I am fine with that. I have heard a lot of recruits talking about Harsin’s vision as opposed to coming for a specific coach. To my knowledge (and I may be wrong), any player the coaches have deemed as “critical “ have been talked out of going to the portal. My point is sometimes there is addition by subtraction. It never feels good to see people we like leaving a program we love. In reality, we don’t know the inner dynamics of what is going on internally. Maybe it is a dumpster fire… but I do know that if I was running a paid site where my living depended on people “clicking “ on my “news”, and I saw they went to negative news 10 times more than they went to positive news, I would probably give the audience what they wanted. I love Auburn and I really like this site. I also made the decision a long time ago that my emotional well-being was not going to be dictated by a bunch of people I probably will never meet.
  14. I am cautiously optimistic about the Oline due to one more offseason with Pittman. Pittman is legit. Guys should all be bigger, faster, stronger. If it improves the run offense just slightly, it will be a huge improvement in offensive output.
  15. His brother is one of the best recruiters in the nation, so hopefully some of that mojo comes to AU
  16. Kenechi Udeze makes a lot of sense. Former 1st round pick by the Vikings who had a promising career but came down with Leukemia. He probably met Mason while with the Vikings (Mason got there before Udeze retired). He has a pretty awesome story. Known commodity. NFL experience as a player and a coach. SEC experience as a coach.
  17. The offensive system is fine. It works very well in college and it works well in the NFL. It is heavily influenced by the following coaches: Chris Peterson, Dirk Koetter, Jeff Tedford, Paul Hackett, and numerous others. It has its roots in Bill Walsh’s West Coast offense. If you read up on it, it is not a system where it focuses on one specific thing such as run heavy, spread, air raid, etc. (although it does have an identity based on the current players), but allows the offense to attack based on what the defense presents. Once the players are in place and they have adequate time in the system, the offense will be very difficult to stop. That is one reason why (in my opinion) Bono’s system did not mesh well- he was too archaic in his approach. Here is a great article on the system: http://smartfootball.com/gameplanning/breaking-down-boise-how-the-broncos-use-leverage-numbers-and-grass-to-gash-the-opposition#sthash.wbR62EXI.dpbs
  18. All this. Should be required reading for everyone prior to them posting.
  19. Will have to bring in some true tackles. One more offseason in the strength program and working in the system will improve the chemistry along the offensive line. improved offensive line play will mean stronger run game and less pressure on pass plays Here are some other reasons I am not concerned: There is a pretty dramatic difference between the offensive system under Gus and the one we have now. Huge learning curve going to a more complex system. One more off season is going to do wonders. IF TJ is the guy… we have to remember he did not have an off season to learn the system, he did not get first team reps the majority of the year, and only had a fraction of the time most people have to develop chemistry with receivers. Whoever the QB is, they need to have a full offseason. I am not certain who that will be. I think we will see massive improvement in year 2. We are not as far off as most people think.
  20. Like I said- average. I am a fan of his. Seems like a good kid. He needed to go. Pretty sure his mind was made up a long time before the announcement. And the fact that no one credible is disputing the fact that the "meeting" took place, makes his exit from the program a little more appealing.
  21. How many programs are going to rip this off (just like they ripped of Big Cat & Tiger Walk)? If they are smart, they will do something like this, but I hope they do not.
  22. Not certain how many of you noticed, but AU is running NSD like the NFL Draft. They are making the announcements on Twitter with follow up videos of the position coaches going over a player breakdown. It is straight freaking fire, and it looks like the candidates are loving it.
  23. ****Was We are heading in a different direction now where the players on offense actually get coaching
