  1. I doubt a quality up and coming AD will take the Auburn job right now. Same goes for football coaches. What the good ole boys want is a "yes man" so that means they will hire internally or somebody with previous connections to the school. It will be some mediocre nobody who knows his role, ie. being a yes man. It will make posters like AU-24 happy, and they might even get their wish and run Harsin off. Then they will bring in Hugh Freeze who will flame out just like he did at Ole Miss. Also, our overall athletic department will go back to being in the bottom half of the SEC. This is what the hillbilly morons want and it looks like they might get it.
  2. I'm not going to go through all that and respond. All I will say is we would have won 8 or 9 games last year, including the Iron Bowl, if Nix had not got hurt. And nothing has hurt recruiting more than the little coup attempt that happened earlier this year. You don't think our recruiting competitors don't use that against us with recruits???? Of course they do. A recruit won't want to commit to a team if they think the school doesn't have the coaches back. A recruit won't want to commit to a team if they think the coach will be fired in the next year. That little coupe stunt has done nothing but undermine Harsin's ability to do his job, especially with recruiting. But we are still in the mix for a lot of guys. If Harsin goes out and has a good year, you will see our recruiting greatly improve. Recruits just want to see if Harsin is going to be around for awhile before they make such a big commitment.
  3. I don't like to predict Auburn things because I think it is bad karma. Just a superstition I have. So I will make a prediction about another team. Mark My Words: Bo Nix will have a very good year for Oregon. He will play great in the opener against Georgia and almost lead his team to the upset, but Georgia will squeak out the victory due to their superior size and speed. Nix will go on to play great in every other game of the season... except one. He will have one stinker of a game that will give Oregon their second loss and keep them out of the playoffs. Besides that he will have a very good year and Oregon will finish 10-2.
  4. The Auburn baseball team was also picked to be last in the West. . . . . . They wound up in Omaha.
  5. Sad day for Auburn. People around the country are trashing us and rightfully so. Lets look at the job Allen Greene did as AD. Almost all of his hires have been good ones. Almost all of the programs are either strong or headed in the right direction. The state of Auburn Athletics top to bottom has never been stronger. On top of this, he was a great ambassador for our University and most the coaches and student athletes seemed to like him. THAT IS ALLEN GREENE'S RECORD AS AD. I'm not an insider, but I have yet to hear a good reason for why he was fired. What I have heard is a few BS excuses like he didn't show up for a few days during covid? Really, is that the best you got??????? Like I said, I'm not an insider, but I have noticed some patterns. The people throwing out these lame reasons for him being fired also happen to be the biggest Harsin haters, and thats probably whats really going on here. It certainly makes a lot more sense than the BS excuses I've heard so far. So, Allen Greene's biggest sin was hiring a football coach that some of the good ole boys didn't want. And these guys just couldn't let it go. They couldn't give the new guy a chance for a few years. They had to meddle and undermine him. Shameful. That's my theory until I hear something better, which so far I haven't. Auburn has so much going for it. It really could become one of the best public universities in America in both athletics and academics with the right leadership. But this won't happen as long as we have a bunch of good ole boys who just want Auburn to be a cow college with a good football team like it was when they got their degrees in the 1980s. This University will never progress to the next level as long as we have them around. As an alumni this makes me sad and angry.
  6. Frankly, I don't give a damn anymore about the "insiders" or the potato boys. A lot of these people just want Auburn to be a cow college with a good football team that beats Bama. They can't see beyond that. They can't see that Auburn could be one of the best public universities in America with an athletic program that excels in everything. A real everything school. Auburn has a lot going for it. It really could become something great with the right leadership. That won't happen as long as we got a bunch of good ole' boys who want Auburn to be like it was in the 1970s.
  7. This forum is unbelievable. Lots of toxic bitter people here now. No wonder it isn't as busy as it used to be. Lets take a minute to look at the state of the Auburn athletic department under Greene. Almost all of our programs are heading in the right direction. Almost all of the coaching hires Greene has made have been good ones. Greene is popular with the student athletes and coaches. There is now a real family atmosphere between the different sports with student athletes supporting other student athletes from different sports. Overall the athletic department at Auburn University is doing real good right now, and its certainly better than when Greene got here. Yeah, I know our starting quarterback got hurt last year and we didn't have a good backup. That led us to finish with only 6 wins instead of 9 and this got the Harsin haters into a frenzy. All I'm asking these people is to calm down and see the big picture.
  8. Well, I'm not celebrating the decision, thats for sure. And I'm not sure Harsin is good for the program either. Time will tell. But I do think this was the right decision and here is the reason: When you hire a coach you have to give him a couple years to succeed or fail based on results. Also, its not a good look if some hillbilly donor can just throw a temper tantrum and get a coach fired after one year over the authority of the AD. People are laughing at Auburn right now and its NOT because of Harsin. Its because the program is a circus and its a circus because there are too many chiefs and not enough Indians. The AD should be the final authority on the athletic department but it doesn't appear that he is.
  9. If Harsin wins 6 games or less then I would support firing him. If he wins 8 or more it should be considered a great year given the circumstances.
  10. I don't want to sound like a sunshine pumper for Harsin because I know there are problems, but we did have a top 20 recruiting class. If Harsin has a winning season that will only improve. Also, Harsin would have won 9 games last year if Nix hadn't got hurt. We have to remember that. At this point I give Harsin's chance of success probably less that 50%, especially after this fiasco. It is what it is. We have to roll with it.
  11. Running a program the right way. This should be our top priority at Auburn. I would rather go 8-4 doing things the right way than 12-0 doing things the wrong way. We should never be a win-at-all-costs program. I firmly believe that FSU has been paying for bad karma they gathered up from previous seasons. They had some winning years, but they did it with shady recruiting practices and letting thugs stay on their team who had no business being there. It would have been wrong to fire Harsin after 1 year without serious wrong doing. It is standard procedure to give a coach at least 2 or 3 years to prove himself and Harsin deserves that. If Harsin has a losing season next year, which is a real possibility, I would have no problem if Auburn fires him. I know this fiasco has divided the fanbase and emotions are still raw. I think everyone needs to take a step back and chill out. Harsin will either pull a great comeback story or he will crash and burn. If he crashes there will be good coaches out there that we can pursue. Every year there are good coaches available. September 3 we open up with Mercer. I will be cheering on the team and hoping for success. I hope everyone else here will be too. Until then we have a great basketball team we can focus on. The last thing we need right now is more negative energy. It will infect all our programs and scare away future recruits or potential future coaching hires.
  12. Bad karma in the athletic department right now. It will spill over into other programs besides football. I hope the basketball team can overcome it, they don't deserve it. Only the football team deserves it.
  13. I don't deserve this and none of the good fans do. Its the small minority of toxic fans and crazy boosters who are giving this program bad karma. If you run off a coach after only one year that is bad karma. The only exception is if he did something really serious.
  14. Allen Greene secured Bruce Pearl's contract. Allen Greene brought in a good women's basketball coach who is turning the program around. He brought in a good volleyball coach who is turning the program around. Most of his hires have been good, and most of our programs are headed in the right direction. On top of all this he has fostered a spirit of family within the Auburn athletic department. The different athletic teams support each other more than they ever used to do in the past. They all go to each others games. There really has been a feeling of family between all the Auburn sports teams under his watch. I guess some of you want another good ol' boy. Someone the potato boys approve of. We had that for most of our history and the results outside of football were mediocre.
  15. I'm not reading through this whole thread. Its too depressing. If Harsin did something seriously bad or illegal then I will support firing him. If they try to fire him for something trivial then this is a disgrace. Its probably the most disgraceful thing the Auburn program has ever done. You hire a coach and don't even give him a chance. YOU DON'T EVEN GIVE HIM 2 FREAKING YEARS!!!! Its a disgrace. I can tell you a lot of fans will walk away. I hope some of the players who came back leave. We won't get a decent coach to come into this dumpster fire. Why would a decent coach go to a school that won't even give a coach 2 freakin years? Why would he go to a school with insane boosters calling the shots over the AD? There better be a REALLY good reason for all of this or this will be a disaster. I still can't believe its happening. We deserve whats coming to this football program if we run out Harsin over trivial reasons or dug up personal dirt. It better be something serious. Thats all I'm saying.
