  1. What the portal looks like 2 years from now doesn't matter, as of today, a team can be sustained by the portal. The leach plan may be the best way moving forward.
  2. Big difference in juco and transfers. Most juco studs were guys who didn't have the grades or had some other issue pop up. Were seeing a lot of transfers who were starters or got extensive playing time at top tier competition.
  3. But the chances of using the stats against mercer are almost 0. This wouldn't be used in a game you dominate, unless in the 1st few drives. Yet regardless of the analytics, this discussion started on kiffen as a coach. He took a 4-8 team to 5-5 in an all sec COVID year, then put together the schools 1st 10 win season. No scandals, fans love him, thus far recruiting just fine. Next 2 years really define what kind of HC he will be after his nick Saban coach rehab program, but between Boca and ole miss, he is killing it.
  4. But it can equally be argued that following the pattern will lead to success more often than not.
  5. But yeah analytics bad, we prefer hard nosed losing seasons ugg
  6. I'll trade our win against ole miss for their record any day of the week.
  7. Meh I'm fine with analytics. Most coaches use them. Statistics don't lie, but stistics done matter to the individual. It's a balance game. Can't really bitch about a 10 win season as ole miss.
  8. Yea, ever game played by any losing team ever has "if executed" plays.
  9. Hey, we can't let this positivity go unchecked into sunshine pumping territory. Thank me for doing the lord's work.
  10. He did a damn good job as HC in Boca and has this far been very good at ole miss. Gus didn't have half this guys career as an innovative and successful offensive mind. If true he will never be a great HC, he will still always be a better coach option than Gus.
  11. Ask and you shall receive. Meh. Not lights out, bit a decent developmental prospect. Destined for a redshirt so we shall see if Harsin can "coach em up" if he survives his impending back to back losing seasons.
  12. Gtfo with this execution nonsense. That's some gus level plan was perfect, players didn't play horse***t. Scheme and play calling are the reason we are here. Not that we didn't execute. We lost the majority of our games from scheme and play calling. Hell by this garbage take, we should just go back to a power and and ExEcUtE ever play.
  13. No it's the perfect emphasis. Imagine how much better AU would have been over the last decade if we had a competent passing attack? Sure it's piling on. We literally have guys in the NFL who couldn't do what bobby no name did at northwest state for the mentally insane. All because of poor coaching and offensive scheming.
  14. Derrick Henry is by far the best RB in the league since he joined. His team is literally built around him. He has been given everything needed to win. They still haven't been able to bring it home. This isn't an agree to disagree issue. A strong rushing attack is a compliment, not a basis. Passing wins. Period. We can agree QB play has been lackluster. But even when we had stidham who was a freaking stud for us, we never had a WR who could get open, make plays, demand double teams.
  15. Obviously shouldn't have asked.... RBs have no shelf life, and aren't enough of impact players to determine games. A stud WR is. RBs are plug and play. Losing a top RB hurts, but losing a top WR is much worse.
  16. You're right, only pass teams do tend to fall into the same problem as Auburn, but who are the best OCs in the nation? It's not the ones putting up big run numbers. It's the guys coming from passing systems. They may or may not be balanced, but passing is the name of championship football with only 1 major exception, and that's having an insane D
  17. It wasn't even the conservative approach, he has never shown the inclusion of modern passing concepts. This combined with his fear if throwing across the middle.
  18. The only national champion this decade who couldn't throw the ball around was UGA this season behind probably the best D this century. This backward looking RBU nonsense doesn't win championships unless you also have an effective down field passing game. This mentality holds the program back. You need a modern attacking passing game to win in today's world. There is a reason WRs and QBs make bank in the NFL while RBs are expendable.
  19. Ummm, he only had 3 conference championships and 1 2nd place. At least get your numbers right. Any idiot should have won with the situation he inherited. He didn't tear it down, but he definitely left if stagnant. If you're going to judge on Auburn, it gets a hell of a lot worse for him.
  20. Dude had the best recruiting in his conference and couldn't win it on a steady basis. We don't really have any diamonds in the rough now. Maybe some rubies or emeralds, but definitely no diamonds. This idea if coaching up 3* to beat 4 and 5 star laden teams is hogwash. They are getting just as much coaching as our 3*. The 3* who has the ceiling of NFL but currently plays at G5 or lower level isn't common and cannot be the basis for team building. It'll be rare that a team of players with better average recruit who also have 3-4 years in a system will lose to worse players who have 4-5 years in a system.
  21. There are a lot of orange and blue colored glasses trying to justify this.
  22. This isn't great scouting. They didn't just find him on some other random tape or anything. Showing up to a camp and having D1 measureables/athleticism will automatically get you talked about. Having the fit and being smart almost guarantee you an offer for any school in Auburn position or worse. Wile this is much more rare now, a very large number of big time recruits have been discovered this way even as recent as 10 years ago.
  23. Because a 20 year old said something 20 year olds say?
